Otherwise a rather "Meh" update and the fact that these updates take literal months never really makes sense. There's a lot of dialogue and they have to be changed to fit the sort of character you're playing and who's in your party, but it's not exactly high literature.
The only thing that would explain the glacially slow progress would be the fact that all of the art is comissioned. And that's probably not too cheap. My guess is that Gabe rakes in the money by delaying the game's actual development, then comissions the art, waits for the art to be delivered, implements it and then, eventually releases the beta.
The maps and combat system are almost all stock RPG Maker assets and there's not too much voice acting.

For real. Unfortunately this is like the trend among the western patreon based developers especially when its about smut games. Either updates came out very VERY rarely, or whenever it drops it only have a very little in content; Or even both. Updates feels more like they're just obligations to show that they're still "working" on the game by adding more unnecessary content to sate their biggest backers instead of effort to actually finish the game. Sort by the most popular games on this website and like 80% of them are still ongoing/WIP to this day. Summertime Saga has been around since '16 and its haven't even passed version 0.21, that is only like 1/5 of the work done for the game assuming they're keep going with their update naming system.
I can't say I blame them though. Its a very profitable system with minimal effort, and even more for adult games since you can't really go around publicly calling them out kinda like that Yanderedev guy. Its very scummy and greedy but like you said that's the flaw with patreon system.
Finish the game, put it on store, slap a 20-30$ and i'll buy it day one. Put it on patreon with barely any updates and i wont even drop a single dime
You just have to listen carefully when you try to open them. You'll hear a different sound when you select the correct numbers.

If you compare it to Treasure of Nadia where you get literal 2-3 HD animated scenes per update twice a month, this one's really outshadowed... Shouldn't this game have been long finished by now?

I get the confusion around this, but it's worth pointing out that in-development screenshots of this game, in particular Colussia or whatever the imperial city is called, were first posted to Gabe's blog in 2013. I don't know when the Patreon started, but they were taking PayPal and money from some sort of porno Kickstarter for this game long before then.
Edit: Actually, I think it was quite early in 2014 for screenshots, but the crowdfunding and first mention of the game being in development was November/December 2013.

This update is like a microcosm of everything wrong with the game. All the CG effort goes to stuff that's clearly Gabe's own preferences like scarfing cum out of a dog bowl and getting fucked by animals, while the MC's scenes (few as they are) are regulated to side characters and sprite sex that's literally copy pasted across all the female characters.
A major girl like Laquadia who people have actually anticipated finally getting to fuck since the start of the game basically? Of course that doesnt get a CG - just straight into RPG maker sprites colliding with 0 fanfare or build up. At least the Steel Demoness had a proper sex scene before she became available for the tent mechanic. I seriously wonder why the player character even exists when it feels like any time they actually get content it's like some begrudging addition to meet the minimum quota.
It's like Gabe actually thinks people are stupid enough to treat the tent mechanic + stripping dice as equivalent to actual scenes. Why even bother giving the girls an affection mechanic if it never means anything?

I just can't stand the horrible HORRIBLE art from the last 2 updates. Playing on eastern version at least, a very good art style, could give you a good arousal looking at the scene and reading the text.
Now with this HORRIBLE art from this updates, with girls body deformed, man deformed faces, it's just impossible to even read perceiving the art at the background. Killed the game for me.
And we are talking about someone making 6k dolars a month and not able to pay someone to do decent art. like, 80% of any illustratorat Hentai Foundry is MILES away better than the actual art. It's unacceptable thing for a eroge FULLY basing it's hentai feelings on the art shown on the background.
For me this is far worse than doing small updates and taking too long to do anything.

The biggest problem plotwise is Gabe saying she dont want the protagonist being a horny bunny fucking everyone, but EVERY party member IS a horny bunny fucking EVERYTHING. So the feeling of playing this game is being the dumbest guy in universe surrounded by horny bunnies while you are only playing the game to see sex. If someone needs to be a horny bunny in a game is the MC above everyone. Not the other way around.

If the art was properly made (at least on eastern version I'm playing), even if you dont have this fetiches, it could be interesting. The problem is the horrible quality of the art after 4 months. I remember Gabe saying she had 2-3 arts from each illustrator per month. With 4 months this would make 8-12 arts forEACH style. We had a LOT less than this in this update, and it was HORRIBLE, looks like someone made them all in 2 hours, not in 4 months.

yeah the original two games are how I found f95 and they were so good. This game has been a trainwreck and the progress for each update is pitiful. Gabe has become just like most other popular porn game devs, they trickle just enough content to keep the supporters paying and thats it. There is no drive to do more or better since they are already raking in the cash doing bare minimum.

Patreon started in 2014.
The problem with this game is that Gabe basically reached a large audience of (sorry for being so mainstream) SIMPS. About anything he/she does is tolerated eventhough it's some of the most bullshit excuse I ever heard. Remember like 4 years ago? When construction work was supposedly "oh so loud and distracting" that he/she supposedly couldn't focus on the game and dragged it out for about 1-2 months for the next update? Well... that was when she still did her updates monthly...
I guess the past showed that during some monthly updates she did next to nothing in terms of content.
I used to defend Gabe, too (well maybe for about one year when it came to LoQO:O, what should I say? The girl shown in the secret pics at LoQO2 looked rly hot and I hoped for more pics lol - IF that was Gabe and not some random thot he/she paid to.
On that note: the photoshootings were really trash. Sorry to be really harsh with her but seeing as to how she milks her Patreon, when she at one point had enough for her final stretch goal iirc, which is above 8k dollars, you can at least expect Gabe to scout out some decent models for that job. Sure those aren't the highest numbers someone can get on Patreon but it is damn well enough to expect some quality!
What I don't get on this matter is, that for one, Gabe clearly got no scope of the project at hand, promising a shit ton of things and all unnecessary stuff like 3D-printed figurines of several ingame characters... Since when was LoQO supposed to become this big franchise when it is built on such poor foundation? You can finish LoQO1 in less than 10 hours if you so choose!
The constant problem is the addition of characters no one asked for, when the characters we currently have don't even get enough content! This series was always comically and light-hearted and suddenly it tries to be more reasonable and realistic?
The mayor's estranged daughter supposedly was turned into the psycho assasin Masquerade which we know since the beginning. The emphasis lies in that she supposedly suffered hard trauma that broke her psyche - when such a thing doesn't even exist in the LoQO universe - Farah always was after dick, she fucked dudes, animals and whatnot. To them such a concept as post-rape-trauma doesn't exist - no matter how big and fat the dick is, they at most will either be exhausted as all hell or be pleasured with ahegao faces. So at best I get a smirk out of those instances of "serious story-writing" knowing the characters and the game's world.
So much feels out of place, like a user above me mentioned, Gabrielle gets gangbanged by every shit you can imagine and after asking to fuck she suddenly is all "that's going to fast for me, we should get to know each other more before doing that" for what exact reason?
It's clear that Gabe did this on a whim, after the success of LoQO2, which btw also had a pretty rushed ending and a high fucking difficulty-spike after Commander Seth, yikes. Clearly lost all passion for the project and still won't employ a development team with the money he/she makes. Also there was no need for 5 different art styles, as imo everyone enjoys SethXZoe's artystle the most I believe. As a random note: I hate Sparrow's artstyle the most... it looks at parts really disgusting with the body deformation action going on. The RPG Maker version used is sooo old and outdated it's tbh really pitiful. You can't configure your sound volume, auto-run and overall the game is really slow.
So to finish this rant of, I am not some a-hole who is angry at a random game, but moreso a dude who was there, when LoQO1 and 2 episode 1 where out on Gabe's HP, played the hell out of those games and had a lot of fun with the good art.
It's sad to see this game series go down the way it does. Have a good time guys and stay healthy!

Specifically about Origins. People keep talking about this game as being in development for three years, but it's actually going on seven. The original plan Gabe put up was that the game would be released in three episodes over the course of three years, and that would be a comfortable timeline. I can't tell anymore how many "episodes" this is, but the scope of this game isn't so huge that seven years seems reasonable, even if Gabe has tried to be tricksy by breaking it up into more episodes.
