I was mostly joking about YU, nothing serious here.

However, still surprised at how niche yuri games are within the adult gaming industry, while it's clearly the opposite for the adult porn industry overall.

I don't find that surprising. Yuri is for women. But lesbian pornography is in many cases made for men. That's why yuri animes like Citrus are full of pantyshots, even though the manga didn't have them. They're just trying to reach a male audience because otherwise it doesn't sell enough. And as you can see with Citrus, it still doesn't sell well enough to produce more than one season.

I can see the point of males players finding relationship between girls "boring" but let's be honest, adult games featuring lesbian content are far from being all shy on the "smut".

I think the reference point is the relationship between the protagonists. Yuri is more about the buildup of tension in the context of a sexual or romantic relationship. It's about edging into an immersive mood where you can satisfy your desire for romance or sex or other forms of intimacy. The level of smut and debauchery is optional and a matter of taste. It's not mutually exclusive but it requires context and it's not an instant fix like pornography.

You mean since a game usually require more immersion than a video and that most of the players are male, it's harder for them to play a lesbian protagonist character, and that's why games involving this kind of content is fairly niche ?

I have no problems at all putting myself in the place of a heterosexual male protagonist, so I don't understand why it would matter. Of course everyone has their preferences and some kinks or relationships are easier to understand than others. But in the end it's always a human experience, no?

Anyway, I have nothing more to contribute. I just wanted to elaborate why lesbian pornography and yuri are different phenomena from my point of view.

Not sure if we include news for ongoing games that have increasingly relevant content and context, but if so, Crimson Veil received a major update last month (for supporters) which is now public.

The main route had a good bunch of yuri addition but more importantly, all "bad ends" can be replayed after either completing the main route or supporting the artist (or both, of course) which includes all pure lesbian events. Thread-wise, the next relevant update will likely be the vampire route completion.

And since the holidays are more or less over now, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to this thread's topic enthusiasts (and everyone else).

For me, it's personal preference. Well-made Daz models look great. Badly made ones nosedive face-first into the uncanny valley and dig for days. And from the number of those I've seen, it's really easy to get wrong. Illusion girls don't have this problem.

I don't know if you're putting futa games on this account or something, but I really disagree with you with all due respect.
We are in a topic about yuri games and you can see that even the 3D ones in the first post, are either 3D from illusion games (Honey Select or Koikatsu) and games with 3D sprites like Being a Dik are more difficult to find (and even fewer are those that are similar in quality to a Being a Dik).

For every 1 3D yuri game there are 5 Illusion or 2D drawings games.

The issue, for me, is that if you look at yuri games threads they have a lot less discussion and comments. I imagine that means there are less supporters on patreon or something, which means less money for the game. I think it's worth enough for devs to invest in 3D models (and customizing them should pay off even less) if they can download a Honey Select here on the forum and use the photo mode to create an entire game.

Here comes what I said: games with DAZ (is that right? Are those 3D called DAZ?) are rare, the ones that have are kind of weird (there's no "Being a Dik" lesbian) and the staff, maybe because there's less patreons and resources, prefer to get the illusion sprites that are already ready!

I don't think handmade 2D art is cheaper than using Daz'like 3D, except if you're making it yourself (but the skill floor is high).

At no point did I mean to say that 2D art or illusion sprites are worse or better than 3D Daz, just saying how rare they are compared to other 2D art and illusion sprites.
As for being "cheap", in money, really labor (whether it's paid or you do it yourself) takes time, money and skill. Although these current """arts made by AI""" are becoming more accessible every day and, soon, they may reach erotic games too
