Still funny to see that it shares a lot in common with Missy.
Same. Problem being that the entry level for creating a game using 2D art is way higher than using 3D assets. AI art looks like a new easier alternative.

Don't go in there expecting another Missy though. YU has a completely different tone, and is very consent-focused.
Maybe in a few years. As it stands now, AI art is basically useless for devs - believe me, I tried xD
The problem is that you can't really keep a consistent art style and coherent character design, and on top of that current AI has a bunch of quirks that require a vast amount of post-production editing.

Can't blame people for trying AI art. If you don't like 3D assets, but aren't skilled enough at 2D art, you don't really have a lot of possibilities. Getting a skilled artist working on your game project is really expensive and yuri-focused games don't really have a wide audience. I don't really know any yuri games generating big bucks and even the most popular devs must barely cover their expenses.

I was mostly joking about YU, nothing serious here.
However, still surprised at how niche yuri games are within the adult gaming industry, while it's clearly the opposite for the adult porn industry overall.

I don't find that surprising. Yuri is for women. But lesbian pornography is in many cases made for men. That's why yuri animes like Citrus are full of pantyshots, even though the manga didn't have them. They're just trying to reach a male audience because otherwise it doesn't sell enough. And as you can see with Citrus, it still doesn't sell well enough to produce more than one season.I was mostly joking about YU, nothing serious here.

If lesbian pornography is made for men, isn't it also the case for lesbian adult games ?
I can see the point of males players finding relationship between girls "boring" but let's be honest, adult games featuring lesbian content are far from being all shy on the "smut".

I think the reference point is the relationship between the protagonists. Yuri is more about the buildup of tension in the context of a sexual or romantic relationship. It's about edging into an immersive mood where you can satisfy your desire for romance or sex or other forms of intimacy. The level of smut and debauchery is optional and a matter of taste. It's not mutually exclusive but it requires context and it's not an instant fix like pornography.
I mean, there must be a reason why yuri productions sell okay in Japan as mangas but fail to reach an audience as visual productions. As I see it, Yuri is too soft to really cash in on it. It's closer to an erotic novel than a porn video.

You mean since a game usually require more immersion than a video and that most of the players are male, it's harder for them to play a lesbian protagonist character, and that's why games involving this kind of content is fairly niche ?

I have no problems at all putting myself in the place of a heterosexual male protagonist, so I don't understand why it would matter. Of course everyone has their preferences and some kinks or relationships are easier to understand than others. But in the end it's always a human experience, no?
Anyway, I have nothing more to contribute. I just wanted to elaborate why lesbian pornography and yuri are different phenomena from my point of view.

I found this on Itch.io. RPG Yuri game, I look everywhere for the full pirated version but doesn't find it anywhere.
Dev also seems to be making a lot of Yuri Game. It's nice to see another good looking RPG Yuri game at least.
