They don't care, because your game essentially falls under a "parody" and you're not selling a product. You take donations for your "work" which can be understand in fairly broad terms.
I'm going to be blunt, you sound like you have very little idea what you're talking about on legal matters, and you're trying to argue with a dev that has both first hand experience with the subject and apparently a legal background... you're not winning this.

If a company shows zero interest in protecting their assets over years worth of time, they’re abandoning their product. It’s similar to why Thermos lost copyright over their product the “Thermos” because they never bothered going after anyone who used the word to describe their own personal product. In order for Illusion to protect the assets you think they own for some reason, they would have needed to not go 10+ years without taking any action against people using them
That is simply a childish outlook on things. You think if you put a legit price tag on your game and put it on steam, Illusion will just ignore that? Well and I'd argue they do protect their assets, you're not some kind of rivaling company that tries to sell those assets or profit from using those assets in a copyright protected game.

It's convo's like this that make me like f95 just a little more than discord. laughs in acrylic
Yes, it was an interesting conversation and I also enjoyed it. I hope nobody takes offense however and I'd be sorry if anyone did, I only mean to voice my opinion and hear other opinions on that matter.

The maps and characters in koitatsu however are meant to be played within the game.
Any proof that this is the case? Are there any official statements/lawsuits/interviews/etc from Illusion?

Anyway how does everyone feel about lesbians
We need a Rin/Otoha/Kaori threesome .

Also, I didn't now you gave up a future in law to work on this game. That's a big commitment

Just wait until I reach my final form and start putting procedurally generated answers into the game so people can’t share how to get through events anymore.
Is that a challenge I hear?

and we all know who to blame for a knife in the back now... clearly noriko
Or maybe that's what someone wants us to think just so she can be with HER Sensei.

I can't wait for you to have enough skills to screw with the games base code enough to pull that off with out causing the game to be ruined like so many others that use Koikatsu. unless I horribly misunderstood how this coding thing works because that sounds hard as fuck.
It is hard, but not so hard that it would screw up the game like you're saying. It would just take A LOT to implement. This isn't like procedural generation of characters, these are just text lines and bits of code that would be randomized so that no two experiences are the same.

Then people will just start sharing saves after that event, never underestimate how far some people will go in order to not play the games that they "play".
Like the people that just want to rush through a MMO as fast as they can to get to endgame, and then quit when they get there cause there's "no content".
There's a lot of those in my favorite MMO, and here I am just creating as faithful a collection of ships to the source as I can.

What do you mean? That is literally playing it early.

It will be released in the future, therefore playing it before you are able to obtain it for free is playing it early.
What I said is it wasn't JUST playing it early. Playing it early on its own is a patron reward, but these are not patrons.

I've been comparing koitatsu games recently and it seems like this game is the most successful one in terms of monthly patreon money. I don't really get why though? I tried it, saw a few of those scary scenes, got bored and deleted it without ever looking back. How does this earn more money than say Corrupted Kingdoms for example? Or Champion of Realms?
Because, and I am sorry to the Corrupted Kingdoms and Champion of Realms developers since I am a fan of those games as well, though not a patron, this one is MUCH better written. Those two focus largely on the sex to get it to sell, but this one relies on its writing, making a much better overall game whereas the others are much better if we were to compare them as porn games, which this one has been stated not to be by the developer.

Selebus I now want the next halloween event to be murder mansion mystery at Tubasa's, someone unimportant dies... like Joffery... or just some random dude named Matthew. The phones are out and sensei has to deduce and seduce the correct sus out of hiding
Please...not Geoffrey, anyone but him or the girls.

"the best VN out there." Those are some big words. I dunno about that fantastic content to be honest. The games I mentioned look better, have better sex scenes and also feature a decent story. I do liked the horror bits, with those "smile" scenes, but they're also not really that high quality.
Big words, but well earned. The games don't look that much different appearance wise except for characters unique to them, they all use the same art style, quite literally. They have a decent story, but this one goes well beyond decent. They may have better sex scenes, sorry Selebus, have to give him that, but that's again because sex is a focal point of those games because they are porn games. This one does NOT focus on sex because its writing is the focal point and it is not a porn game.

corrupted kingdom stole many of its assets from other peoples works which soured some fans into not paying for it at all. Champion of realms... its level of writing....well... it's fucking bad, like naruto bad, it's chunibyo, except its like it isn't even aware its chunibyo.
I wouldn't say the writing is bad necessarily, but it isn't great. This one is indeed great. Also, you lost me when you called out Naruto, again, not bad, but not great.

"Stole many assets." How? None of the assets are original, they're all from koitatsu.
As for Champion of Realms rather plays typical Shounen Anime tropes but I like how it combines several stereotypical Anime tropes and makes sense out of them.
Well and how is this game any better in terms of writing in your opinion? I'm just seeing ddlc with other characters.
Well then try to sell me on it, what are its strengths? I'm genuinely curious and don't get at all how this is the most successful koitatsu game right now. Is it the mix with horror? Or are the characters interesting? Although personally I didn't notice that to be honest.
The story is much more coherent than your two examples combined for one. It actually makes the characters seem human, they have faults, they have fears, they are easy to connect with. The others have none of that, not that they have to, but it does diminish their quality.

None the game sucks don’t play it
I bet you haven't even played it
It’s too hard to find events and there isn’t enough sex. 4/10
You two are a freaking riot, here I am actually being serious and genuine and you two are throwing up comments like this, it's hilarious.

you can literally go through the thread of corrupted kingdom and find like 20 pages text of when the the creator had to change the character designs because he got legal papers served from when he stole them. he had a massive loss in revenue from when that happened. (you will find me there pissed at how the tree trunk thighs are gone... I dont mean thighs the size of tree trunks, I MEAN THIGHS THAT ARE MADE OF TREES.)

and champion of realms is stereotypical shounen with no exposition story build up and straight "oooooh fight for no reason, now look at tits you didnt have to really earn but get to fondle" from the start. I mean it might not be fair to the game that my impression is the first 30-45 mins of gameplay... but really
I completely forgot that happened, and I was there at that point as well, though I tend to lurk.

probably an additional reason for selebus's success though is he reached out to other game makers like hero's harem guild (still better than both the games you mentioned even if the last time I heard anything about it was over half a year ago) and advertised between discord and patreon groups
That is a good point and I would accept HHG being better than the other two more than the other two being bad.

Yeah I obviously don’t know the whole situation because I’ve never played CK, but any legal action that was taken against Ark would have been from the creators of the assets he pulled from. It would not have come from Illusion. I can’t stress enough that Illusion does not own everything made using their products.
I mean, there's a reason they themselves haven't cracked down on developers that use their products.

If a company shows zero interest in protecting their assets over years worth of time, they’re abandoning their product. It’s similar to why Thermos lost copyright over their product the “Thermos” because they never bothered going after anyone who used the word to describe their own personal product. In order for Illusion to protect the assets you think they own for some reason, they would have needed to not go 10+ years without taking any action against people using them
Not to mention there is a time limit on that protection and it has to be renewed after that limit expires or the assets are fair game. Copyrights are NEVER permanent, which is why you will often see the copyright date on a long term product change, such as MMOs.

That is simply a childish outlook on things. You think if you put a legit price tag on your game and put it on steam, Illusion will just ignore that? Well and I'd argue they do protect their assets, you're not some kind of rivaling company that tries to sell those assets or profit from using those assets in a copyright protected game.
Yeah, they would. Illusion has been pretty clear over the decades that they don't care enough to take action. Otherwise there wouldn't be a giant modding community behind multiple games that have never been released outside of Japan. That is not to say that there is no fault, I'm not going to even get into that, but they won't come after anyone using their assets for other games. That was the whole purpose of the StudioNeo and CharStudio programs in the first place.

Anyway how does everyone feel about lesbians
The more the merrier applies in my case.

So long as Rin is involved, sign me up :)
Especially if Rin is involved.

Any proof that this is the case? Are there any official statements/lawsuits/interviews/etc from Illusion?

Nope, though they did dislike when Fakku tried to enforce on Honey Select 1. Also, yes, that would be the ultimate pairing, make it a foursome, even, with us involved.

Truly an entertaining and enjoyable conversation to read through, I cannot believe so many lawyers all find a way to meet through this game.
That is actually, kind of impressive. At least it isn't all of them teaming up against the game, as odd as Selebus going against his own game sounds.

Welp, I've missed all the heat. Oh, well.
As did I, love when I sleep through the good stuff, but I figured I would still chime in.
