Ive been rereading LiL as of late and please, for the love of all that is holy, someone, ANYONE, kill that bitch Niki. I beg of you. Ami, do what you did to Nodoka to Niki. PLEASE. Fucking hate Niki. With everything going on lately in the story I almost forgot how much I hate her.
Chill Maya. All shall be well and all manner of things shall be well.
I don't like Niki neither. But it doesn't really matter. After all, as a girl with blue eyes (whose name is definitely not Himawari) correctly put, an artificial and convenient puppet would never be prepossessing to be destroyed.

By the way, would anyone share their playtime? I have just noticed I spent 210 hours on LiL and yet I have about ten updates to catch. I wonder if my reading is too slow or whatever.

Okay, as is tradition I return once more to shoot the shit for a few pages after catching up to the current update. This time it's the Halloween Party through Reset Six, and the progress mod isn't showing anything unfinished (one Happy Scene is still ??? but I think that might be the "Alexandria" or whatever thing mentioned upthread that I know nothing about).

General opinion summary:

I mean I get alternate timelines (alt-history fiction is a favourite of mine), I get the LiL time loop insofar as anyone does, but that whole timeline fracture and re-merge(?) was just whack.

See I don't like alt time-line stuff and it massively hurts consequences of actions, as seen in Ami being able to murder people without a hitch.
That being said there is a saving grace in LiL in that it is completely and utterly unpredictable and un-manageable (Or so we think).

I don't care about the "NTR" part, its not like we're really getting cucked and most people don't like Nu-Maya at all, myself included ofc.

As for the other thing: Yeah I totally did not expect that and I'm SO PISSED that we can't see the aftermath yet. I need to know what happens to Nodoka after death. I know when Makoto killed herself that it caused a mini-rewind and she retained her memory of it, still being depressed until the next reset where she seems to have been replaced with a diff Makoto, wonder where the OG is now. But how does this reflect on Nodoko? We'll have to see. I saw some people on here saying "Nodoka sacrificed herself so I dont hate her as much" but like, that's not what happened at all. I'm also pissed Sensei didnt even TRY to stop the murder from happening, I get non-action is his whole shtick but Akira needs to grow some balls and take things into his own hands soon.

My theory is that actually dying means you get hard-reset, which is why she says to convince her to drop her investigation.
Now, what I'm not sure is if Nodoka's investigation was always about her sister and she just extended it to Sensei's class due to what she noticed, or if it was a new investigation into Sensei's class which she later connected to whatever happened to her sister.

Alt timelines and time-looping weird shit independently I can work with, doing both then re-merging them all into a single "prime" timeline without explaining any of what just happened or who remembers what...that's got me a bit lost. Look, I made a damn chart:

Like what even the fuck. How much do Makoto and Ayane remember? Obviously Makoto missed Ami killing Nodoka, but Ayane doesn't seem to remember Maya's notes in the basement? And that's without even getting into the "prime" timeline rooftop scene with Kaori and Naoto before the fracture.

That's a narrow interpretation of what we said. Apart from DeSkel, which must have cheered for Darth Vader when A New Hope premiered, most of us had deep problems with Nodoka. Half of these was because she felt like a self-insert that had just too much knowledge and did things without consequence, and the other because of the extreme things she did. The last few updates explained and justified all of these bit by bit. Her sacrifice was just the culmination of it all.

Now, I still don't like Nodoka. But that's an emotional reaction to her hurting many of the characters I like. Looking at her from an objective pov, I can understand and even admire (some of) what she's done. She's been the most productive not-member of RAS, and she did all that without being chosen in any way (other than maybe Himawari's help).

Remember Sensei even forgot his memories for a while until something triggered them during the first reset we see. Just because Ayane's forgotten them right now doesn't mean she's wasted her time during Halloween. If anything it's Sel tipping his hand saying the other characters need some development / this cliffhanger needs to stew a bit longer.

Also remember sadsack sensei doesn't exist anymore, sensei is no longer sad. We're back to our regular depressed Sensei who isn't going to become some Prime Maya level source of plot progression until he has enough control of the simulation to actually do something. Right now plot is happening to him, he hasn't seized control yet cause no one knows how to conciously do it yet

whatever?

how are you guys able to see your playtime/time on save?

I hope that Sel makes whatever the consequence will be for cheating / triggering DRM interesting and interactive. Assuming his vigilance towards manipulation / distribution of the game files comes from artistic vision, an anti-cheating/DRM measure that further reinforces / touches on that artistic vision would be more preferable to one that ends the experience, presumably. The narrative is hard to progress through, both thematically and mechanically, but never is it impossible. As it tells us we can (and should) stop at any time, it also becomes more linear and simpler to progress, while also becoming more difficult to digest due to increased complexity and flirtation with taboo --themes get heavier, progression gets lighter. I think that an entirely harmful consequence for cheating doesn't fit, if anything cheating leading to a variation that provides additional context and which more completely resolves the scenarios would work.

This all assumes that the main motivation for Sel's earlier actions against cheating/DRM was from clashing with artistic vision and not due to concerns about money. I am hopeful that I will be able to read this story in full some day, and would be rather disappointed/disillusioned if my machine has been marked in a way that prevents me from doing so because I installed a guide mod when it was recommended to do so. Would be silly for players to be punished for initially treating this game like the ergoe it disguises itself as and not the top shelf denpa that it is, though I do think there is room for the game to provide a different experience for those who continue to treat it as an ergoe in spite of it's best efforts to dissuade them from doing so.
