Perhaps I jumped the gun a bit there. It sounds like you know quite well what you are doing. I stated 'marketing' since quite often placing your game on a platform is just that -- part of marketing your game. How you release your game is part of how you sell and market it. And that is something you should plan out in the long term as part of the process of making the game. There will be places you should consider placing your game on early, and others you should consider doing when it is more developed.
But it sounds like you know that already.
There are plenty of people who jump into releasing .001 versions on patreon. bleh.

Me? I would actually recommend 'releasing' early versions of such games on places such as here. No money, but full of both eager consumers and developers. Build a fan base. Then do it more officially on commercial platforms when you have a bigger game.
But of course, that does depend the size of the first release. Perhaps you already have a good size to start with.

oh but of course, and I took no offense to your suggestion, I was simply clarifying, forgive me if my dry speech was interpreted as being defensive. I had no plans on launching a patreon, perhaps at some point, but this is not an attempt at a cash grab, I genuinely want to make a GOOD game, thats enjoyed by people, I am satisfied to just work on the game.

my plans are to release the first build with a ok chunk of content, not just sex scenes, but dialogue, a few unlocks, you get the idea. I wanted people to see the initial setting, see what they like, and give me feedback, I will also be releasing a roadmap showing where the game is going, and when the time comes, I wanted to poll and see what new areas people wanted development on first, as well as the type of fetishes, since there is a fairly large map with various environments, and multiple factions that have already been planned out. I was going to open a discord and actively chat with those who enjoy the game in real time, as well as give them a direct feed to me while i am programming or drawing/shading to pitch ideas, report problems, or just talk to me if they really want to.

while I used patreon as a good example, I was slightly uncomfortable while making the initial post because I was concerned people would misread my concerns about platforms banning content as a whole as me being worried I won't be about to scalp some people for cash.

firstly forgive my english if I make mistakes, I am not a native speaker.

So, a while back I made a post about a game I was making, and its well underway. hopefully I will be able to release soon, but its not coming specially fast since I handle the writing, the art, and of course I am the programmer first and foremost. I also use all my recreational time to make it, since I work full time, and I also have to take precautions that people dont find out what I do, while a guy can get away with making a porn game, it would be as bad as if I starred in a porno myself if word got out to people I know, I already catch a lot of shit for being a programmer and not getting married at a younger age

This is the thing, themes in the game include incest, corrupting a brother and sister twins into having sex, or if you are outright cruel, just forcing them to. It also has the option when expanding to pick between a fetish club or stables early on, while the fetish club offers less than vanilla stuff, assuming you take the perk so you can take much bigger cocks, you can basically suck off, or even fuck horses or other mythical beast.

that brings me to my next point: I have been seeing several platforms try to shut that type of content down asap, and then I heard summertime saga is having to cut incest because they got audited by patreon.

I don't intend to launch with a patreon, or come out the gate begging for money. This is a project of passion for me, and I want to make something that people look back at and think "thats Eclipse, shes the queen of smut, she makes great stuff that anyone can download as long as they are legal age"

I also don't want to compromise on my vision for the game, a game that starts out strong and then quickly devolves into pure, unfiltered degeneracy. I have thought and thought, and regardless of what platform i use to deliver my content, what is the best way to avoid getting shut down?

would a disclaimer work, would a giant sign at the start of the game saying "hey, no one in this game is underage, no one is related, ect ect" work, or would i need to find a way to deliver the content through alternate methods? would I still get shut down if I have a blog section talking about the game, but the game is hosted on a private server?

I need to find a solution because really, I want people to enjoy the stuff I make, and without the risk of potentially getting an account with a following terminated. I have seen blogger and patreon both terminate stuff now, and if I do ever decide to use either of those or even some other website or distribution method, I want to try to lower my chances of getting shut down

As to suggestions regarding covering your butt basically... An warning regarding player/reader age is a good thing to add to the beginning... As to the age of the characters, if they don't look 18 or higher, putting a warning claiming they are 18 or older will not necessarily protect you or your fans in certain countries (as an example in the United Kingdom, just looking under 18 in a drawn visual is considered **********) so take that into account...

As to the more Extreme/Risqué Fetishes, the only issue you may run into are with regards to the sites you use for hosting as well as donation gathering... Some have rules/regulations/requirements that disallow some types of content when using their services... Just make sure you're not breaking any of those rules etc. when using those services, and you'll be fine...

Optionally, making certain types of content optional in the game play opens your game up to a wider audience, as they can either turn it off or avoid it (in an obvious way)... But if you don't want to do that, just ensure sites like this one and others show all the Genre's/Tag's included in your game, so peeps who do not want to see certain content are forewarned ahead of time...

As to Patreon itself, it's rules are in a state of constant fluctuation right now, becoming more detailed and stricter, especially with regards to Adult content... Things like Incest, Bestiality, Rape, and other more Extreme/Risqué fetish content is strictly forbidden in their rules now... And they are avidly hunting down and investigating games claiming or insinuating or even hiding that sort of content and using their site to take in donations... So be for-warned... Some developers are trying to come up with clever ways to circumvent their rules, but they are becoming wise to a lot of that stuff... They themselves do not want to lose business from their partners and non-adult creator base, which is why they are becoming so aggressive...

Renderotica disallows bestiality in their terms of service, but I was able to find that one example of a Centaur on their site in the comic/art section. I'm sure there is plenty of Centaur sex going on across the net, I was just specifically referring to Renderotica, as a case study as to whether Centaur sex was considered bestiality or not in their book.

Part of the problem is that the internet is getting less open as lawmakers and people in charge start applying more pressure on these sex and adult things. It's not like Patreon really has that much problem with incest, they make a ton of money on incest game. It's that they're scared their credit card companies will cut them off for having that content, and the credit card companies are scared that congress will go after them for funding incest porn or something.

For example, congress shut down backpage for enabling child trafficking, and passed a new law that limits the safe habor provision so websites. What ends up happening is the big websites start freaking out. Google Drive started just automatically DELETING anyone who saves porn videos on their cloud drive, just in case any of it is underage porn.

I think the rationale for banning incest content is the equation of incest with child exploitation and pedophilia. However, technically a scenario where a 35 year old man has sex with two women, side by side, who happen to be sisters--with no sexual interaction between them--is also considered "incest". Anything where two blood relatives participate in a sex act, even if they don't interact and the sex is with a 3rd party, is incest. But clearly there are dozens of scenarios where no "children" are involved. So consensual sex acts involving blood relatives who are of the age of consent are also considered banned material. And we're not even talking real human beings or even real actors here--we're creating/playing video games with pixelated characters who only exist in an imaginary digital world. Seen that way, it seems like a bit much.
Hopefully alternative funding models will emerge that are less susceptible to legal and publicity pressures.
