I think it's mostly fine, though I would make the font color for the pictures on the right side actually white instead of gray/transparent (where the bar / beach / camgirl /ect are). Maybe increasing the borders/outline around the letters by a smidge might help as well.
Yeah I mean might as well be, 2 updates a year at best so you could check back in 3-4 years and there might be a complete game
Do you understand that each update there contain as much new content as 2-years worth in some other games?

I'll add my two cents. A long time ago, when I was studying web design, we were told that the background should not be striking, otherwise it overloads the user's vision and makes it harder for them to read the information.
For me it does make the text slightly harder to read, but that isn't the biggest problem with the colors. I feel like everything I look at is bright. All my monitors are set to 25% brightness or less and everything is in dark mode. Bright colors slowly give me headaches, the longer I look, the worse they are. If it was one consistently bright color, I could further turn down monitor brightness, but the split colors make it awkward. The checkered pattern is just weird to me. It would be easier to work with a solid color either bright or dim.
I do find it hard to read, at least in the screenshots. Maybe when the game is actually the size I use on my screen it will be easier, but the business of the background with that grid pattern makes it difficult for me.

I don't think its terrible but if I look at it for too long the checkered pattern makes my eyes feel a little weird. I would say up to you though, don't think its a high priority just can mess with some peoples eyes is they stare too long
Having the darker box deff helps the focus on the text!
I don't think you'll be staring at this menu for more than 15–30 seconds. It's just a glossary of the events that you'll glance across to check your progress, it's not an integral part of the game that you'll be interacting with constantly.
