VN - Ren'Py - Light of My Life [Ch.8 v0.8.2] [Naughty Road]

Don't let the appearance fool you, this game fiddles with the idea of the younger daughter being a child. She is very short, barely knows anything about sex, is very naive and basically behaves like a kid. Her vocabulary only worsens the creepy factor, as she sounds like a small child. I'm amazed that so many people seem to find this ok. Very creepy game, which I hope is not intentionally targeting the kind of people I think it might target.

I appreciate the author morphing unique characters and providing more diverse physical appearances, but there is no reason why the younger daughter had to be basically a kid. Incest fetish is one thing, but this is just too much. I had hoped that after Dating My Daughter, no more games would play with this creepy idea.

A shame, because the rendering work is very well done, with well composed backgrounds and good lighting.

I've seen the fan signatures of this game going around but never really had the urge to play. I'm so glad I played this game now because it has been an absolute blast to watch unfold.

The story thus far is incredibly heartfelt and very well realized up to this point, albeit only 2 chapters in ( I was sad when I realized it was only 2 and it just updated recently). The girls have obvious personalities that one would come to expect from adult games but NaughtyRoad uses those tropes to his advantage, at least when it pertains to the sisters. The only negative I can pull from their character is the inconsistency of the knowledge of sex with Denise. She's confused about erections, doesn't know the term "ejaculation", but is aware of what an orgasm looks like and has basic understanding of porn. It's not only inconsistent, but it also bounces from one end to the next far too often to make sense to me. So I struggle with the believability of it all there.

The one character I have no interest at all in is Brooke. Her storyline means absolutely nothing to me. She's also the least attractive to me.

Going onto the art now, I've seen comments trashing the appearance of the girls in this game. They are different, that's for sure. For me, there was never any need for an adjustment period. I like Macy and Denise's look a lot. They can look a little "hobbitish" sometimes if the angle doesn't quite land, but it's a very average look that I think works very well and particularly adds more to the depth of Denise, who struggles with confidence because of these standout features.

It makes more sense as well. I'd have a problem if she was stunningly attractive yet thinks she looks ugly. Here, the girl actually has unique standout features that she might want to conceal because it doesn't appear favorable to some. It gives the story that much more realism.

The panning and zooming is next level and it keeps me engaged. The animations are the usual cutting between too images, but it doesn't detract from the scene because of all the panning and zooming the game does on it's own. And the soundtrack is wonderful to hear, which is unusual for me.

To summarize, expect this to be one of the more grounded adult VN stories on this forum. For the most part, these feel like real girls a part of a real family that's trying to salvage their relationships any way they can. And that's slowly but surely leading them towards a more intimate path. Very heartfelt, very well realized, very well edited. And I'm SO looking forward to Chapter 3.

4/5 though I would give it 4.5/5 as the problems that I have with it don't really feel worth the deduction of a full point because so much of the good simply outweighed the bad for me.

The story is interesting and the interactions with the other characters are not superficials. It's a nice change from "Now that we've said hello to each other for the first time in our life, we're going to fuck."
The graphics are really well-made, it is nice to have physical canons that differ from other games. I like "russian top models" as any other but it's a bit boring to always see the same faces from one game to another.
If you are looking for a quick-fap game, you are in the wrong place.

So far this game is really great, the art is a bit different than most and I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it or not but turns out after playing that it is one of my favorites.

Woah, now this is something special.
Proper use of English, doesnt read like a drunk Russian wrote it for once and its quite nuanced, it has proper narration so its not all just dialogue.
Fleshed out characters with weight to them, you can tell they have very real issues, good and accurate depictions of mental problems and other traits like deep ingrained jealousy, the writing is leagues above most other wegs Ive ever played
Slow and realistic buildup, maybe a bit too slow sometimes but worth it to get invested, I like that I can completely ignore the coworker storyline as I have no interest in her, but I might check it out in the future since the writing is so nice Im sure there is some good going on with her too
This game has actual DIRECTION to the scenes, there is panning, zoom in/outs, good use of visual effects and music that enrich the scenes, very expressive and dynamic character sprites, easily the best part of the game and something I missed so much from almost every other weg of the same style.
No minigames, no money management, no useless game overs because you chose wrong, none of that BS, just a straight up good story.
Girls of unconventional beauty they stand out nicely and them not being some 10/10 perfections works in their favor specially since the writing acknowledges it and builds it into their character
Im very surprised with how much I enjoyed it, Im really looking forward to more, highly recommended.
Really really outstanding work congratulations to the devs, I hope this becomes a big success, but not too big that you start to slack off eh, Im joking but you know how often it happens, we desperately need more games like this one.

Sadly the game has gone full dumb in the writing department, making the sisters lesbians was a huge mistake that destroys them as characters and they are no longer interesting to the player since they are having all these sexual escapades together they no longer feel innocent in any way and its highly incompatible and contradictory with the rest of their character, the author wanted to include sex action in the game asap but in doing this he has destroyed the story.
Note that I like lesbian content just not the way it was implemented here because again it has invalidated the characters completely, I dont care about them anymore.
The game also despite an incredible first few updates fell into repetition and padding and the plot getting nowhere.
The ghost mom is also very very silly and adds nothing. Using the dead mom as a writing device was good, having the mom be a literal ghost and behave like in the ghost dad movie is cringe and once again destroys what was originally a good character.
Shame.

Not what I expected at all. More depth of story and characters. Also interesting to see where this is going. Pretty interesting source material. Also interesting to see a different look for characters, not just the same models you've seen everywhere.

Awesome game, really cool seeing a game with original art not to mention the diversity. This is the first game I've played in awhile that seems to have a lot of heart and love into the project. The forth wall breaking is handled really well too. I tossed a few bucks your way after playing the first few scenes!

This game is a gem. If someone visits this site often, one can get tired of the usual 3d models other devs use, nothing authentic, same models, or their mixups. It is really refreshing to have somthing like this game with completely original art. Not to mention the story is great, all characters have depth. I am really lucky that I have found this little wonder, thank you, keep up the exceptionally good work!

I've been a Patreon since the release of chapter one. I was compelled to write a review after the release of chapter two.

I have no negative critiques when it comes to this game. The storyline and writing are top notch. The game developer is certainly moving the bar up. The game doesn't throw the incest and sex right into your face. The main character isn't sex crazed or perverted right off the bat. The intro cutscene flashback is different but serves it's purpose in showcasing the writing and hooking in the player.

The only controversial "issue" about this game seems to be the character design. I personally have zero issues in regards to this. Seeing something new and unique that differs from the norm is refreshing and appreciated. It's disappointing to see controversy over this, since the game as a whole is so much more.

~Story~

A quality game is something which starts with the Story first. That's something most developers should take as a note in my opinion. Light of my life has a well written and understandable story. It's not just interesting but also very detailed. You'll automatically know if a story is good once you feel with the characters. Speaking about that, all Characters are very interesting. You get to know each one with time but you also want to know them further. The detail in each conversation is not too much but also not too less which is good because you can keep focused this way, while still enjoying the story telling. A nice balance between good story telling and detail. This game has all of it. As someone who treasures story more than anything else, I enjoy this games story very much.

~Graphics~

You'll see some graphics which aren't at the same quality as others but in general, the level of render quality is very high. Characters look very nice and gives a very unique realistic touch which I haven't seen before. They're also nicely placed on each background and the fov effect makes it even more realistic. Animation effects are well done and fits with the environment so you won't feel distracted. Overall i personally loved the graphics, especially the expressions of the characters.

~Gameplay~

It's pretty much straight forward with typical choices if you want to call it like that. I don't want to spoil much about certain things so I'll leave that to you to discover. I liked the gameplay and you won't miss any opportunities. The thing I appreciated most is the option to define the names etc. not many have this feature. The font is very nice as well.

~Music~

It's kind of rare to see renpy games with background music and some of them are very bothering and distracting. This game however has a very good track which flows with the storyline very well. I hope the dev can add more variety in the future, though. Of course you can always change or even deactivate this in the options.

I enjoyed this game very much. There was a lot of humor and even though the post says that english was a second language or whatnot the writing and grammar was very good. I'm also extremely jealous of his animations, I wish I had the skill to do my own. Also the girls are quirky and unique and a good change from the models that get used in like all of the games lately. The mom and sister from big brother get around a lot, lol.

As of Ch. 2

I'm loving this game so far. I love the fact that NaughtyRoad chose to take the out of the ordinary route in terms choice of characters. It would be great if more Devs took this route versus the cliche models that pander to certain people. It takes balls to be original especially when the mainstream look is so popular on this site, so props to NaughtyRoad.

As I stated previously there are Devs on this site who are scared to do what NaughtyRoad is doing out of the fear that their project wouldn't be well received by some. SOME care more about their bottomline or making money so they sacrifice their original plans and ideas to please some. Don't get me wrong if you're just trying to make your cash and dash I won't judge you but a lot of Devs actually enjoy what they do and won't let others dictate their vision. Which is very respectable.

But back to the game...

I love the renders and authenticity of the characters. NaughtyRoad has these character features down to the science. Whether it's facial features or their natural looking curves. I personally find them sexy. I'm a simple guy, I see curvy women.. I fall in love. The story looks as if it's about to take off as well, everything is set in motion.

5/5 for me, I'm all in for this project.

Just finished the playing through the game up to the latest update (chapter 2 ) and we'll it's grown on me. The art style is something different which is a good thing, the daughters characters are created and portrayed well which kinda makes you actually sort of care for them (considering this is a incest porn game and all). The mystery behind the wife s death and the weird dreams is intriguing.. Also big win for me is that there is and will be zero ntr so keep up the good work Dev I look forward to the next release...

This is a good game. Not very explicit up to this point (0.3), but the writing is great and the renders are really good and unique, same as the models of the girls. It is not my taste of figures, but they stand out and have sex appeal in their own way. And there are some creative perspectives .. (Licking on top of marv ^^)
The scene in the museum is a good example for this game. It is such an unique and well thought out way to deliver the whole incest theme to the daughter and the player.
I hope the game will keep a steady and nice progress in the coming updates and we can enjoy this inimitable piece of art.

I cant give 5 stars, because the models are so far away of my taste of women, but I have to appreciate the achievement of the dev.

Slow paced romance game. The dialog is well-written and the characters are... mostly pretty believable (incest games are kind of fundamentally silly). But the plot with the flashbacks and the pacing is so far just great.

My favorite part about this game is the art and the renders. The characters are a bit stylized and that took me a minute to get used to, but they are really quite charming and very expressive. They work perfectly in the story and setting. This game definitely has, IMO, some of the best renders around - particularly if you are tired of seeing the same models and poses everywhere. Excellent work, really.

This is an astonishingly good start to an erotic game, which demonstrates a maturity, sensitivity and nuance that is highly unusual. This makes it compelling from my point of view, although it will not suit those after a quick fap.

There is so much worthy of praise, but the highlights include:

1) A sensitive, mature plot that covers most of the human emotional spectrum, with a heavy emphasis on loss, sorrow and resilience.

2) Art that realistically captures the flawed beauty of human beings. The women in the story are beautiful and sexy, but in a realistic manner -- their features don't look blown up or cartoonish.

3) Characters that are unique and compelling -- so much so that it feels really slimy to do anything sordid or smarmy to them. This is a porn game where the women are (A) really tempting, but (B) I feel compelled not to treat them like women in a porn game. This is absolutely a credit to the creator's writing.

As I said, this is not a game for everyone -- but it is a great game.

I also waited too long to finally play this game. But now that I did, I think it's great!

This is one of the very few games which have a realistic family feel to it. Haley's Story is another one, and although different in several aspects, I feel this one is on a similar level.

Basically the MC is just a hard-working honest guy who wants the best for his daughters. At the same time he's also dealing with the loss of his wife and lustful feelings in general. This is an athmosphere that many can relate to I think. When these feelings become more incestuous, I think this game will get an even deeper feeling. It may truly become one of the best games ever.

Art is generally pretty good, the models of the daughters are... unconventional. I didn't find them that appealing at first, but they grow on you. And more importantly they make sense in the story, their personalities are matching their appearance. And both of them take after their mother.
