Well, I never used to like turn-based games (even haven't finished Fallout 2 ever), VNs neither - so I kinda find this rating enexpected from myself... Anyway. No animations, no actual level design - so, guess we are here for the writing, art and choice variety instead. The story is pretty much a medieval-H-classic at first, e.g. some baddies kidnap a princess, and her bodyguard starts looking for her to finally break some evil plan - but do not draw any early conclusions yet, as, first, we have to actually look for her... E.g. no, not mindlessly walk forward for her to show up, nor expect some random NPC to just tell us where to go - instead we run a full-scale investigation, try to earn some money to hire people we need, run into trouble doing so, look for the ways to find some better equipment (with the latter being interesting to both look for and to use) - all while figuring the things around are not what they seem to be. Bonus points come for the character writing, with some later ones breaking the fourth wall, and all being pretty much alive. The art is cute, and great job on making all the H-scenes actually feel perfectly in-place (of course, with a lot of darker plots we love this genre for). The gameplay is nice, and you won't have to run numerous calculations planning on your next move, although there is a pretty wide variety of tactics and tricks making some fights more of a puzzle to solve. Finally, the music. Not only it is nice itself, a pretty interesting touch is to somewhat move away from the initially orchestral tracks as the setting changes later in the game.
So, a weekend well-spent!
