I decided to make a list on her progress and breaks from the past 3 years. Feel free to form your own conclusions. Enjoy.
I put it inside a quote because loooong list is loooong.
Going by the numbers alone, I think the only thing we can take away is that the project is dying. At the rate things are going, by 2023 we'll be getting updates twice a year, if we're lucky.

Hard to really form any conclusions from it without the context of what each update was. And how many updates had place holders. Or how many times the blog was updated with "so I didn't do anything last week." Without knowing how many of those updates after a few weeks/months ended up having everyone respond with "okay, wtf were you doing during that time if this is it?"

Like, wasn't the 0.2.x spam when we were getting constant placeholder updates with helena's quest? Where each update just kind of, was a number?

I'd be more interested in going through and counting her weeks off, but like, no. I'm bored enough to comment here while sitting around, but I'm not *that* bored. Not yet anyways.

I think it'd be also worth noting how communicative she was during these hiatuses/extended delays. I discovered the game in 2020; did any of those 2018/19 breaks have significant periods of silence? It's been exactly two weeks since we've last heard from her.
Almost all of the long pauses between updates also included long pauses between blog updates.

It's not actually open-source, the source is just available. It's not an open source license.

As the license.md file says



And I'm not fixing a game for free when the developer, who does a fraction of what the other free contributors do, is making a living off their popularity. I'd rather work on my own projects. I'm not going to fund some lazy fuck's life with my work unless they're also giving me a paycheck.
Merely mentioning, src is available and open for tinkering/modifying/extending.

I wonder what her response would be if a group like 8chan weg anon's who took over corruption of champions swooped in, declared "assuming control" and started developing the game on there own. Obviously she could sue, but that's kinda hard to do against an anonymous people online, it would probably just give her an excuse to bail entirely with a pretext to point at.
For all the shit talking I and others do towards her, I still want her to keep making this game, or wish she would anyways. She has (had...) a unique idea and vision for this and I genuinely enjoy this game more than any other weg out there.

But if she isn't gonna do the work then stop sucking her supporters like a tick and announce it already. If she wants out then there is enough of a community around this game that'll keep going (probably faster at this point) without her.
Time to shit or get off the pot.

Why would she have issues with something she expressly allows in her license so long as they don't claim to be The Official fork and don't try to sell it?

Regardless of whether it is incompetence, ignorance, or laziness that is causing Inno to go back on her word YET AGAIN, I don't think you can say she has gone back to her old ways because nothing has really changed in the first place. I mean, how much content has been added since the last 3.X update that wasn't a placeholder or originally created by one of the modders who could probably damn well create their own team and game and finish a project faster than Inno can complete Lilith's Throne? Aside from a barren new area (as of 4.1.6, I have yet to play a more recent version after hearing about build instabilities and refuse to comment on those changes) and generic, easily forgettable NPC shopkeepers... has Inno really added anything from 4.0 onwards? The only two things that come to mind is the legendary armpit sex and genuinely decent interactions with Meraxis.

Shit hasn't changed for the better at all, it's only gone down hill faster and faster. The bread and circuses provided by the increased update frequency was nice, but now that they have grown stale it finally looks like the small bit of hope they offered never truly existed.

I'd hate to say it, but unless 4.2 is a MASSIVE content drop that is as dense with new activities as one of the previous areas of Dominion and comes out before the end of the month I think its safe to say that Lilith's Throne is finished, one way or another.
I agree with you completely. Inno's updates have been absolute s*** as of late and not sure if anyone remembers this but Inno did mention that with the 4.0 update would make it so you could own businesses in dominion and have your slaves/employees run them. I thought it was a unique idea because I thought there would be all sorts of shenanigan's with them but we're well past that and if you go to the town hall it still says property management will be at 4.0...... Now when the updates mentioned that Inno was going to work on Kitsune questline content I was ok with it because that really caught my interest. However It's been almost a year if not one already (at this point I've stopped keeping track of Inno's updates mostly) and the field content before the Kitsune quests aren't even close to done. Overall I would say this game has practically been abandoned if not completely by Inno

The most recent messages (and they're a couple days old now) were "still working on it" and " I've just had a rough few weeks", but I've seen people mentioning that Inno was online recently, so it's just intentional radio silence.
Also, every message I've seen asking about news or the update's status (and I was online when some of them were posted in the chat) was first completely ignored, and then, since the search option doesn't show any of them anymore - deleted, I assume. I just wonder if the people asking were banned as well; certainly wouldn't surprise me if they were.

Didn't poke around much longer than this, I have better things to do. This whole shitshow is still amusing to me, but after all those years it's no longer THAT amusing.

After receiving some feedback, I decided to re-make my list on Inno's progress over the past 3-4 years into a more thorough one. This includes all free/public and preview updates, progress reports, disappearances and breaks as well as the year's highlights. Please keep in mind that while the post is basically a dumbed down version of what happened over this time period, it is still VERY extensive and LONG. I gave it some simple formatting and divided it into years for easier digestion.

I only did this because I was bored and thought it could help newcomers understand how this project flows. I'm not wholly familiar with Office programs and sometimes it's hard to transfer formatting between places. Please bear with me if there are mistakes or it looks stupid in some way...

0.4.2.5 - December 22th (Preview) (Explains that personal problems have made it hard to focus on LT. Should be back on track come next year. Added characters for Wall's End and mentions AceXP's fix. That's it.)

Please keep in mind that while the post is basically a dumbed down version of what happened over this time period, it is still VERY extensive and LONG. I gave it some simple formatting and divided it into years for easier digestion.

I only did this because I was bored and thought it could help newcomers understand how this project flows. I'm not wholly familiar with Office programs and sometimes it's hard to transfer formatting between places. Please bear with me if there are mistakes or it looks stupid in some way...

I've been unable to write anything since getting the last preview release out, and I don't know when I'll be able to continue with it. Sorry about the lack of progress and how long it's taking me to get this next public release out. I'll make another post at the end of the week to let you know how things are going.

It's funny, I hadn't forgotten about the delays, but I definitely started mixing up which one was which. It really does seem like any passion or interest in the project has passed. Now it seems like whatever stupid idea seems interesting gets added quickly, and the actual writing and development is being forced. And really slowly.

It's funny, I hadn't forgotten about the delays, but I definitely started mixing up which one was which. It really does seem like any passion or interest in the project has passed. Now it seems like whatever stupid idea seems interesting gets added quickly, and the actual writing and development is being forced. And really slowly.
2-3 days with on-off commitment to it, though it felt like a long ass time. lol

Yeah, reading back on it all served as a refresher of how this project is doing and it's definitely going downhill. Inno is making less and less progress each year and you can feel the detachment/disinterest as time progresses. I feel like her tendency to get side-tracked is just a symptom of a much bigger issue. She's also kind of prone to health issues and some of them can last a while; could be "natural causes" but I feel like a good chunk is due to this "job" of her.

Can't quit because it pays your bills but don't want to keep at it because it sucks the life out of 'ya. I don't think she's truly suited for this kind of work IMO. Yeah, the pay is great (when you're lucky), you can work from home and make your own schedule, but it is still an intense form of commitment and public opinion can be just as harsh as a bad boss. Some things are definitely on her though... she's making it harder on herself than it needs to be.

After 2 years more or less, I've finally decided to try this game again. It's amazing how there's so much content but with so little depth. This game feels like a playground or a mod with little consistency. It's creative and the possibilities make you wonder, but then you realize there's not a lot behind that.

I don't know if I am being unreasonable and by no means I think developing this kinda game is something easy. I honestly only hope Inno gets better.

I don't know if I am being unreasonable and by no means I think developing this kinda game is something easy. I honestly only hope Inno gets better.
Pretty much right on all counts. Well, mostly. I'm finding that building a combat system from scratch for a text only game is really, really hard. I keep coming up with ideas that would just be better if it wasn't text only or is too much for a porn game lol

But yeah, a game like this is really just about time. It takes time to build content. If the game is properly designed to create an easy content pipeline, all you need is the time to keep on writing. With like five years of development, this game should be so much further along. And there's so much to do before we'll ever even get there.

Still a damn fun game until you run out of shit to do. That just, happens way too quickly.

With like five years of development, this game should be so much further along. And there's so much to do before we'll ever even get there.
It would be nice if Inno committed to a single content pipeline. Right now LT has two for pretty much all systems—Java classes and XML files. :|

It doesn't help that XML really isn't the best format for something like this. It's sort of like using a pneumatic nailgun to hang a picture. Honestly, I think something like YAML would have been a much better pick. It gives you the simplicity of JSON (without the crazy nesting) and gives you the means of writing freeform text. Considering LT uses schema-less XML, you lose the benefit of early validation so it's kind of pointless anyway.

Yet more evidence of uncontrolled mutation over planned evolution, I guess.

She's also kind of prone to health issues and some of them can last a while; could be "natural causes" but I feel like a good chunk is due to this "job" of her.

Can't quit because it pays your bills but don't want to keep at it because it sucks the life out of 'ya. I don't think she's truly suited for this kind of work IMO.
That's kinda why I try to be a little sympathetic. I don't think Inno is intentionally being malicious, but man…the optics here aren't great. She does have a lot on her plate, and I suspect one of the major reasons for her perpetual burnout is 1) dealing with old mistakes, 2) likely a lack of practical dev experience, 3) the mountain of source code (seriously, LT's repo is massive), and 4) trying to introduce new content on top of this.

I think she'd fare a lot better if she offered some financial compensation for people to help with #1, #2, and #3. Considering how popular LT is, I doubt she'd have a problem finding helpers.

Considering the number of people that have been booted from the discord for simply asking questions, I don't think there can be any question about the maliciousness. As for the other points... there MUST be some point at which incompetence and a willful refusal to fix one's mistakes can no longer be excused. I'm not sure how long Inno was able to use Hanlon's Razor as a legitimate defense, but that time has passed. The only question is when it happened.
