I think Patreon is like, baby's first stock market, and you invest in all these games hoping to get something out of it, but everyone is also too poor to sue if you don't get results, so you just end up feeling sad.

IMO, I think it'd be better for people to make Patreons for translating Japanese games than people trying to make them themselves. It's obvious most of these games are unfinished, and while the H-games can border on being bad to just plain weird, the majority of them are always finished, they just need a TL. Majority of Western games on this site don't even have the completed tag.

For some people, having a indefinite source of money is the point of it all and one of the best ways to assure that income is to make your project last as long as possible.

I hate japanese games.
1. extremely grindy
2. if not number 1 then kinetic novels
3. no fetish choices.
4. always piss fetish. I don't want to drink her piss then pee in her womb, what is wrong with you!
5. censored

For all the faults of western games, I still enjoy playing those half completed soon to be abandoned buggy alpha games over japanese games.

I disagree, if I wanted to play an unfinished mess, I'd just play whatever game was shat out of the AAA market. At least if I find a Japanese game I like, especially since I know who the really good devs/publishers are, I know I'll actually enjoy it.

Well, for one, I'm glad there are different markets for different people.

As for me personally, when it comes to (eastern) porn games my experience is not that dissimilar from yours but that may be because most of the games I've found either came from (now deceased) HongFire or this website. Sooo... it's a narrow scope. Let's be honest, F95 is filled to the brim with similar-looking and feeling RPGMaker games and many of them tend to be grindy as heck to inflate play time and to give some sense of gameplay. The thing that bothers me the most is the combat. I'd rather get down to the meat and bones of the game, which is the story and sex... and that's where novels (kinetic or otherwise) come in.

I don't mind kinetic novels but my tastes change over time. Sometimes I want something that focuses on story and other times I want something with a bit more of player agency. Fortunately, this website has tags (even though they aren't perfect), so I can just pick and choose what I want and avoid the rest.

If we're talking about non-porn games then the eastern market has definitely some good titles out there, kinetic novel or not.

For a moment there I thought you were saying most of these (indie) games were AAA, but then I realized you meant how most AAA games nowadays feel unfinished when they release. I agree. Though, when it comes to bugs, it's unavoidable with how varied our PCs have become and the amount of hardware there is out there.

I feel like the eastern market sticks to consistency, which is what you seem to prefer, whereas the western market prefers to expand and do things different every once in a while. Personally, I think it's a commendable effort. Games aren't exactly cheap to make so even if it doesn't pan out at least they made an effort to cater to different crowds. Simulators are turning to be some of my favorite games right now, titles like House Flipper and PowerWash Simulator. Nobody would have thought of making games like these 10 years ago.

RPGM is trash, yes. I rarely play them.
Also at least western RPGMs are uncensored and do not force you to have piss fetish.

Blatantly wrong. Back in the PS2 era you had bug free games, all it takes is them taking the time to debug the game before releasing it.

Back in the PS2 era internet was not a common thing. You wouldn't even know if someone else ran into bugs. Games had bugs since the beginning of gaming.
Nowadays everyone and their dog can loudly complain about the smallest problem on the next forum.
And games and software became so much more complex and diverse, it's impossible for a developer to find and fix every single issue.

The internet was a thing, it was not as pervasive as it was today but it was a thing and it was common.
While bugs always existed, very few minor bugs got pass QA process in the era of actual bug testing.

You are making a false equivocation here.
There was a whole process where, after a game was finished it went to QA where professional bug testes played it over and over again trying every system in the game and trying to break it. Noting every single bug they found, which would then get fixed before shipping. This process often took roughly 1 year. Terms like alpha, beta, and final were coined for a reason. Back then you got a full finished game on a CD or DVD and it did not require patches. You could count the number of bugs it had on one hand.

You are also making hyperbole (it is impossible for a developer to find every bug). not impossible, just relatively hard. But there is a huge difference between finding every bug and not doing any bug testing at all. without any bug testing a game might ship with thousands of bugs, while with bug testing you might ship with 5.

Ever since the xbox provided consoles with the ability to patch games though, they just started releasing them completely untested. Players will complain about bugs, they will fix a few of them, and then just move on leaving the game largely unfixed. Because why not? it saves them a lot of time and money to do so.

I do want to note games are also more complicated nowadays comparatively, the more complex a system is the more likely it is to fail somewhere, thus more bugs are prone to occur in more complex games. not saying game devs ARENT being more lazy nowadays, just that bugs are more common also because of how much more complex they are now.

Any player slavery mods in the works? I know it was canceled in the main game, but I'm holding out hope for a mod as a reason to play again.
No, from the sounds of it the author scared people who wanted to do stuff off or something.

Is that actually true though? How much more complicated is Skyrim vs morrowind. Yes it has more polygons, for every feature games add nowa days they just as eager to streamline and take things away.

Back on topic though I still think it's funny that it's been so long since this game dropped and 90% of the sex dialog (that you will be see VERY VERY OFTEN) is basically 0 effort filler that loops.

I was curious and thought I would ask.

Why do Lilaya and Rose sleep in Rose's bedroom and not in Lilaya's bedroom?

It absolutely is. Rendering APIs are closer to the metal than they have been in a long time (not to mention that while you can stick with Vulkan on Windows/macOS/Linux/Switch, you need to use GNM on PS4/5 and DirectX on Xbox One/Series), and as the world and characters grow increasingly detailed you have to spend much more time getting stuff like collisions, AI pathing, player movement, and similar stuff to be both fast and as accurate as possible across a variety of platforms. Physics engines also tend to make things far more complicated, especially when you throw multiplayer into the mix. Making the world more complex and detailed makes all of the tech driving it far more complex.

As far as streamlining is concerned, that's not always a bad thing. I mean, do any Monster Hunter players really miss having to collect whetstones? They certainly can go too far (the Morrowind vs. Skyrim comparison you brought up is a perfect example of a game getting too polished), but it's worth taking a good look at each title and seeing if the things that get cut really added anything to the gameplay or if they just added more busy work.

Then there's stuff like Doom Eternal, where the game becomes so mechanically complex compared to previous entries that it alienates certain groups of fans.
