Tho,now I think the best idea for awards is to have qualification rounds first,otherwise in some categories there would be too many entries,but it's kinda late

Here,I wanted to choose those that have at least 2 updates this year,and I made an exception for Scions of the Divine,because it's as big as 2 updates. Also,was looking at reviews and coms to choose something more popular and know for people,that's why Trace,for example,is not here

The best update/s of 2025,the same rule in terms of popularity,I would like to nominate something people actually played,otherwise,they are not gonna vote for the game they never heard about anyway

since it was completed this year i finally got around to playing interim domain. graphics wise its not much to write home about (oldschool hs1 though it has some good style in places) but the story is really nice. to the point that i wished it had some fewer lewd scenes because i just wanted to see the character arcs lmao. the endings make your heart cry instead of just your dick

definitely a recommend from me if you like good character writing

Sooo, a separate "big fish" ranking? To separate the leagues of "fame begets fame" from the mortal creations? Honestly a good idea...

Not really sure about the naming. I would actually like ratings for "updates" only, but maybe summed up over 1 year because of titles like Toxicity. Sometimes updates are weaker and sometimes they are notable improvements. Maybe that's even what you mean, but maybe that should be named accordingly

Only downside I have to say for these awards is getting enough votes to make it meaningful. Plus the quality of votes, what I mean is that objectively you would want someone who has played all of the games (at least a little bit) to make it a fair comparison. But even myself who I consider in the upper tiers of HS2 afficionados hasn't even played every single one of these games. So really it just devolves into a popularity contest.

Man sex stopwatch was such a waste of potential... stopped reading when the plot started going all over the place. Shame it had some hot characters especially the milf. I wish all these peak pornhwa artists would do regular manhwa. Hurts seeing all the actual peak manhwa stories getting axed or shitty art or hiatus or even not getting adapted at all.

Like in steam awards or somewhere else people only vote for something they played,and here,I think 90% people played like half of them at best,so we kinda knew Eternum will win everything,but Ripples - Wild Cats - Pale carnations should have +- the same popularity.

Well, I did start venturing into HS games this year and have - as per your recommendations - played Ripples, Wild Cats and Pale carnations and still voted for Eternum, because Pale carnations just doesn't really tickle my fancy, and while Ripples and especially Wild Cats are absolute masterpieces in my book they still don't hold a candle to Eternum. In Ripples' case quality and in Wild Cats gameplaywise. Also helps how fresh the memory of the Eternum update is xD

Oh and big kudos to you for the list, I really enjoyed most of it so far

Yeah to be honest as much as people like to glaze and hype Eternum to the point that it almost has a cult following you have to admit there's a reason it's liked so much. Objectively it just does so many things so well. Can't really complain.

It's just sad cuz there's many games/devs out there that deserve more recognition. Like Cross Realms not only the first proper chinese cultivation game but the dev knows how to use UE5 and combines it with photoshop/HS2 to make scenes that would be literally impossible in pure HS2. Also City Devil Restart, tell me which other HS2 game has that level of UI/animations/camera work combined. Literally none. And other games doing unique things too.

Not saying all these games are perfect and deserve 10k patrons on patreon or anything but we should at least applaud the effort and them pushing up the standard of HS2 games because it means future devs will be inspired to make better games and we players will be eating good haha.

edit: not to say UE5 is perfect by any means and with epic games making it harder and harder to use more realistic shading models this will likely not improve soon :/

Yeah I'm really excited for where the dev of Cross Realms is gonna take the story. As a fan of chinese cultivation and also enjoyer of the novels/shows the dev is inspired from, I have an optimisitic expectation for all the plot points he's setting up. Has the potential to be really amazing. We'll see whether the next update (probably coming in January) lives up to the hype.

As for your other point, yeah I get what you mean. Some devs just don't have the skills/hardware to push HS2 to the limit. The low res textures you're talking about are most likely due to the choice of models/assets they're using. Unless you commission or have the knowledge to make your own mods, the quality of the assets are gonna depend on what you have available and how skilled the original modder was. Some of the older maps/assets have that cheap look to them. Some of the newer ones look damn good, although you still have to know how to tweak the lighting/graphics settings.

I think Eternum in this ratings has no place.

1 - it's second VN, in portfolio, dev has completed project quite awhile. While most competitors- 1st-timers
2 - He make his update more than year, also not quite correct compare investments.

Do note pls, i'm not shitting on Eternum, it IS a good game. It is just no point to rate. He already got earned attention and stars.

Actually, i think, all games which can be found by just going right on ths page: > Latest Updates (above) > sort by rating (on the right), first 1~3 pages, no point to rate. They all good and it is pointless them to rate in this thread.

They are good games that can be found effortlessly.

And if we do rate them here, again, well, obviously they just collect alls stars, and potential of others will go unnoticed. Again.
