the final of the last update is a great moment to forget about it for 3-4 years, or even drop it on a good note

Yeah I'm really excited for where the dev of Cross Realms is gonna take the story. As a fan of chinese cultivation and also enjoyer of the novels/shows the dev is inspired from, I have an optimisitic expectation for all the plot points he's setting up. Has the potential to be really amazing. We'll see whether the next update (probably coming in January) lives up to the hype.

As for your other point, yeah I get what you mean. Some devs just don't have the skills/hardware to push HS2 to the limit. The low res textures you're talking about are most likely due to the choice of models/assets they're using. Unless you commission or have the knowledge to make your own mods, the quality of the assets are gonna depend on what you have available and how skilled the original modder was. Some of the older maps/assets have that cheap look to them. Some of the newer ones look damn good, although you still have to know how to tweak the lighting/graphics settings.

Well I don't really care for cultivation as a trope nor am I a big sinophile generally, but I'm also interested in that particular game and am pleased to hear there might be an update soon.

And a general question to you as well as anyone else reading this: I was thinking of dippin my toes in creating animations, do you think HS2 and maybe the 800+ Gigs of assets here on F95 is a good toolbox or is it worth venturing out and looking at blender/UE5 for qualities sake. If you want to start animation just use Blender.

Not only is a vastly superior software, the community is massive. You are certain to have the answer to any questions you come across with Blender. This also means they there are hella resources for Blender vs. HS2/Neo where you'll be very limited in what you have. For all the assets that are in the repack the majority are far behind the 2025(6 at this point) quality standard.

Plus once you learn Blender you can export HS2 chars to it anyways (I don't know the specifics of that lol).

tl:dr StudioNeo, even with all the amazing things modders have done is still a pretty subpar animation software.

I think Eternum in this ratings has no place.

1 - it's second VN, in portfolio, dev has completed project quite awhile. While most competitors- 1st-timers
2 - He make his update more than year, also not quite correct compare investments.

Do note pls, i'm not shitting on Eternum, it IS a good game. It is just no point to rate. He already got earned attention and stars.

Actually, i think, all games which can be found by just going right on ths page: > Latest Updates (above) > sort by rating (on the right), first 1~3 pages, no point to rate. They all good and it is pointless them to rate in this thread.

1. Like already was mentioned above,votes would go really slowly, because most likely,average user here never even heard of any of them.(you can see how slow they are in completed games voting)
2. It would turn into a popularity rating again,and games we want to boost wouldn't win anything,and from user's pov - they see nn game winning against other nn games,so it doesn't make it meaningful for them
3. The only solution I see for that is to have the "expert" voting for unpopular ones,but where would we find these expert

Like,to make it more objective,we need every voter to play all the games listed,so this is where we could actually compare them
And anyways,it's not like there is a prize pool or something. We will find other ways to promote them later

for example, quality etc. toxicity will be significantly worse than the others, but at the same time, dude just makes games and drops updates regularly, unlike cliffhanger simulators that drop cliffhangers once a year

Rating in this thread, i think, should access underrated titles (below WR4.7) just so others, who interested in HS AVNs do not need to go lookin 20+ pages in search.

Obviously, 4.7+ rated games anyone could find easily, so there is no need to rate them into stars again, they already have them.

But then again, if WR is representative, why bother rate again anything.

Your list is missing the hilariously funny, crazy, self-aware Solvalley School. I suggest going in expecting more comedy and degeneracy than brilliant writing.

On the literal opposite end of the spectrum is Twisted Memories, which may just be my favorite game of all time. The writing is incredibly good and mature for an AVN (don't expect James Joyce, it's still very degenerate stuff). I kept putting off this game because of the screenshots in the thread. Nothing really appealed to me. Don't do that. Just go in. Pictures don't do it justice and no review can capture the essence of this one-of-a-kind game.

You are right man I played twisted memories about one year ago. Yes it's true that the updates are very slow. But definitely worth every second of it. Absolutely loved it. One of my most favorite AVN of all time. Waiting for update about a year now .

I mean, I never think of it as anything other than a popularity contest, and is it even a bad thing because of that. I don't think there is an objective standard for what is good game (on the other hand, there is objective standard for bad game imo)

All the tiers here are based on my personal perception. Weighted rating has its own cons,for example,it's strongly affected by specific fetishes,for example,people who love incest will most likely rate sinful summer as 5 stars,and people who hate blackmail pumped negative reviews for new horizon.Besides,some games were pumbed a few years,nowadays people forgot about them,but rating still exists,so it doesn't represent current state.And to add more to that,a lot of reviews made by people who barely played anything,so they rate the first vn they ever played In the end,iirc,there are like 3-5 games with WR over 4.7 and a lot of newbies don't know there is a latest updates tab with this rating Tho,looking at wr now,it actually represents the same tiers
And I also added nearly all the possible playable vns here,I'm just trying not to up them too high until they have at least more than one update
