I mean, the goal should always be to have a game which people play for the porn, but stay for the story. Which is why I personally dont like games where there is a lot of sex from the get go or where the LIs jump on MC immediatly. Sure, a fuckfest can also be nice from time to time, but I dont think you can create a good story from a game which does things too quickly. Because you need to build up on the story part, but are already quite advanced on the porn part, which means that the porn might take a backseat at some point, which is also not ideal.

Jeez, I am the one who give Eden 5 stars, mostly due to how impressive the render become better over the update. Yeah, ep1 was less than ideal when it come to interaction, but they improve the writing in the upcomming chapter, at least I feel they add more depth to the girls. At least the game is averge when it come to writing.
And isn't you guys always complaining about how we don't have good HS games and the genre will properly die out in a few years. So I guess I won't be too picky about them.

I wouldn't give 5 to anything only for visuals,otherwise Cradle would be S tier For now,my Eden experience is based on just first 2 chapters,which ones we know were bad.So,let's see what the others will show
As of other games,partly I agree,because without support the chance of them getting abandoned is higher,but on another side,some of them are really awful and you can clearly feel the dev can't get better,it's his limit.As a solution,I could add another tier,something like b-,for the games that have potential,but was poorly realized yet

As cherubin said,it's better to have both.Sometimes I want to play the great story,sometimes just fuckfest,like that new teacher or waifu academy,yeah,they are kinda stupid and simple,but it's exactly what you need when you don't want to use your brain and relax

Oh,and a few words about the tags,pretty sure not many people notice,but I fix them time to time.And to make it easier,I want to make a tag list for all tags I will use here.As a base,I would take f95 planned tags,but there are a few things I disliked.For example,it doesn't have the tag "slice of life",because there is the "action" tag,and if it's missing,it assumes it's slice of life.I want to make it more obvious for people who read them.Also,I don't think I need to include any sex/kinks tags,just those describe the plot.The same goes for "character" tags,redhead/elf/etc.Simply don't have enough space for this.However,as olds here remember,there were a google table,that was supposed to have all of these.I still want to make it,but don't want it to be google,need to find an alternative

Before starting to remake everything,I need to know how many people are watching this thread.There is a poll at the top,and if I see not enough activity,well,I'll drop many ideas I have because there won't be much point in releasing them

Keep voting.As of now,I already see 12 people here,which is 12 more than I expected .So,the first thing I wanna do is create a google sheet,to make it shareable outside of f95zone(Many devs insta-ban you for mentioning f95zone on discord),like I mentioned before,and to simplify things for me a bit

New changes I wanna add:
I wanna split the "tags" section into "genre" and "tags." "Genre" is supposed to describe the game plot,while "tags" should describe in-game sex content,like "big asses,cunnilingus,blowjob,threesome,etc."For example,let's take a look at Eternum:

• Genre would be:Sci-fi,Harem,Humor,Adventure,Romance,School setting
• And now in the "tags" section,we would have:"cunnilingus, big asses, blowjob, masturbation, vaginal, etc."(Not sure what exactly I need to mention,maybe just things like public,gloryhole,bukkake,etc.)

• Other options are just to leave only the "genre" or leave it as it now

Also,Imma thinking about adding the latest update date to the tableDunno how useful that will be

These changes will only be applied to the Google Sheet,the f95zone table will just be sorted by year(or maybe not,because I don't wanna Eternum to be that low)

Omist isn't plagiarism. I know the dev and while he drank heavily from Eternum, his game is taking a different path (the writing reminds me more of Projekt Passion than Eternum, tbh). I suggest to give it a test.
Likewise, Porntals look and feel different enough to be worth a playthrough.

Dreamlink 0.1 was basically Eternum at home, but by 0.2 the dev started to give it a proper identity... too bad he had to cancel. The girls were gorgeous. Abigail, my beloved...

It's very complicated. I can sacrifice porn, but I can't sacrifice visuals and how characters act. And the other problem is the definition of a good story? What games have such a good story that people would play the game even without porn?

What games have such a good story that people would play the game even without porn?

imo? None. The presentation are the only thing separating these games from being "erotic story #384839". Was sad to hear Evermore is going that route.

It's also why I think devs REALLY need to spend a little time learning at least some HS/Neo/Ren'Py stuff. Ofc if they're really committed they can even take it further with exporting assets to Blender and other stuff.

Some of these games have iffy visuals and bad/no sounds and music. At that point I wonder why even choose this medium to tell your story.

About the earlier discussion about early sex and side characters, I think it's 100% fine if a game doesn't have any sex for the first couple hours of play, and maybe just uses teasing instead. Of course that isn't a certain road to financial success but I'm talking about what's acceptable for me.

As of technical aspects:
Writing, didn't see any crucial mistakes or something,just a few minor typos,like here

Doesn't really matter,but I would replace all "pupil" with student instead in profiles and some lines.
Regarding visuals,not the best ones I've ever seen,but they are fine.Also,it seems like posing and scenes get a bit better every new chapter.

Animations are custom,but look weak so far,moves need to be a bit smoother,otherwise,they look too plastic. And about smoothness ,I think it's the same for transitions between scenes.For example,let's take a scene with Layla's shopping,the mc says go,you got black screen with a caption,and in a next render they both already stand in the shop.You could show the shop for example first,and then characters entering it. Sometimes,it really useful to skip unnecessary parts,but I think it happens too often here
About the plot,at first,you actually got a wimp mc who annoys you with every line he says.And as it was said here before,didn't like a thing that there is always someone to solve his problems

-Don't know what to do with your magic? - Suddenly,all the girls surrounding him know everything about magic or are the scions/mages themselves
Introduction of Layla's family was a bit too fairy,all these "sweetheart",etc,like they are talking to 10 y.o. kid,not 21 y.o. girl.I see how dev wanted to show how sweet they are,but I think it's a bit too much.
Sadly,I can't see affection points for Rayne,does it mean she's a side girl? And still yet,I don't really get what made her open to mc,all they had are 2 sparring sessions that showed he's stronger than her,was it enough?

As of good sides,you actually got an explanation why mc was like that and he actually shows his growth. Mc from the beginning and mc from the ending are 2 different people.Now he actuallly uses his brain

Btw,it took me 4 hours to finish it and the first chapter is mostly about world building.
So,overall,if you didn't play it yet,I would recommend to wait till episode 2,because this is where we will get an action. However,if you want to find out about the plot,go ahead

Same as much i value a good story but if it hasnt lewd in i'm gonna pass, good example for me is Summer Gone, very beautiful renders, story seems deep but it stays at romance level, so i never played it.
And ive learned its very rare to have it all like Eternum, Ripples or PC, there's only a few of this kind

Hey, I'll take a B! Thanks for sharing your thoughts about it.

Just wanted to say Chapter 1 was 100% about world building, character introductions, and the beginnings of the overall plot. I don't want to throw people into this world that's pretty different from ours without giving them at least some understanding of how it all works.

Everything has been noted and I'll be trying to improve on almost all of the aspects you touched on, even the minor ones like transitions to new scenes. Some things were done the way they were intentionally, though. Like Layla's family dynamic (typical family with an only child that they don't want to let grow up) and Rayne being the way she is with MC (the cliche must have MC's dick and doing anything to get it syndrome). Also, those animations were my first 3D animations ever and I've already improved since then. Hopefully the ones coming in chapter 2 will be a lot better.

Oh, almost forgot, Rayne is indeed a side girl, that's why her writing is a bit weaker overall, but she is already in high demand to be a main LI. So, I'm considering it.

Ah gotcha, you’re after the comfy stuff. Most of them are like that, no tears, no trauma, just smiles, love, and maybe a few accidental harems along the way. Even the dark ones have alternative routes.

And here's a small tip,you probably already encountered a bug on latest updates tab when you can't find a game even if the title is correct.So,to fix it remove all words with 3 or less letters and it will be fine.
