Maybe I am not playing it as intended. Well, to be frank, I've downloaded this game since I saw it as one of the favourites in the anal-only list games. Yeah, I'm dead serious. But very well, it's still summer for me (uni starts in ~3 weeks), I guess I've got time. Then how is the game intended to be played? I've invested my skill points into a stronger attack (costs 4 stars, but deals 3 times more dmg) and increased defense.

The first fight I lost was a tournament one, on day 11 or so? I even savescummed a few times, but to no avail. Are you saying that first fight is supposed to be a loss? If so, very well, then can you tell me what the "meta" is? I tried to farm all skills equally, got most to D, but I had more intelligence than other skills, mostly due to the fact reading books is cheap in terms of energy and I did it daily.

Sure, I can understand and even usually appreciate a slow burn. But then help me progress the actual game, since I've gotten stuck on it as well.

It is also possible to win every single fight in the game without the extra stats from new game+ but you need to -really- be focused on building your stats for that and also be lucky with guarding etc so i do not recommend my way xD, main focus your stats btw being attack (And then defence i'd say, that's at least what i've had the best runs with personally). I mean i have managed such myself, even on hard difficulty so.. but it's by all means not a requirement to win that

Also one thing i tend to do when i start a new playthrough is savescumming til part of the brothers"title" has reckless in it as that gives me a skill rightfrom the get go that makes me regen some hp almost every turn in combat which can be a massive boon. The choices i do is like the attached images and in order i pick

"A battlefield is unfolding"

"Break Through"

"Carve my own path"

I savescum for these because you're not guaranteed to get the 2nd option and worst part is that you're not guaranteed to get the reckless title when picking these options but the chance is there. It also seems i get the strongest attack power start when i pick these combinations

The adventure books as Shmurfer mentioned above is great too, another thing i personally tend to do if i want to get more stats (But not only in attack) is save before i sleep every night just to make sure i get the community work option (And if i see it i make sure to save yet again before i use it, you can save at the guild by the way by right clicking and then just press the save button at the bottom) and then i keep trying til i get the version where you go to the fields as that always ends up in you getting into a fight and winning that seems to always give you +2 in every stat.

All in all i do savescum a lot for these things but i do not recommend it if you feel it'll ruin your fun, (I've already completed the game a few times so i personally do not mind it now).

How does Shadesishere's translated version compare to the official Kagura/Steam one ?

Fan translators have my gratitude and respect, so I'm not trying to start an argument here. Just trying to figure out what version I should play.

Atm I'm leaning towards the Kagura/Steam one. I'm aware of the other fan translated version, but it doesn't seem compatible with the FFFox mod which I want to keep.

Would I miss anything ?

I use the fan translated version of the game here (With FFFoxmod and deason color mod) and personally i think it's good but i am no expert in translating at all, neither have i used the kagura/steam version so i can't really say much about that.

That's what I did when playing the game before the Steam release as well. At first glance there is no reason (technical or "quality" of the translation) to keep this fan-translated version except for historical reasons. Again not trying to start an argument, I was really grateful I could discover the game in English thanks to the original translator.

Waiting for some more feedback, but since the other fan-translated is not compatible with the FFFox mod, I think I'll be going with the Steam version for my next run. Gives me a reason to buy the game and support the dev as well.

Thank you for your reply.

If you're interested in reading a good translation, try this one.

That's the "other" fan translation I had mentioned (and I have it bookmarked). Since I'm really partial to the FFFox mod however it'll have to take the backseat for now, but I'll certainly give it a try in a second run.

Thanks also for your reply.
Do you put any stock in "You don't hate localizers enough"? If you do the Kagura translation will piss you off.

Maybe.

I last played with the FFFox mod, really enjoyed it, and wouldn't mind some familiar sights before diving into the DLC content which didn't exist at the time.

As I said, I intend to explore both versions, some diversity can't hurt. I'm also secretly hoping that the best of two worlds (as I see it) could be merged in the future. Some modders can be outright amazing.

I don't mind being patient.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, you were supposed to lose it before the DLC, and a new path was added with it, but you're intended to have new game plus stat boosts to go down that path. Otherwise you lose that battle, then the guild falls into harder times and you have to figure out how to make the guild survive, you buy the cooking skill and then you just keep training.

As for training, other than that first sorta scripted loss as long as you keep training every day, and when your teammates ask for help after the guild activity you accept, which levels them up and maybe teaches them new skills. Otherwise training everything is alright. Adventure books and reading week are great uses of money and time, and a guildmate you recruit is found at the library over time so visit it every visit to town.

Subjugations are your best paying missions.

Having your sister be in a loving mood gives you some love per day so I'd try to apologise and cheer up until it stops working, then give a gift of candy, buy more in the village on weekends, try to save some money and then buy a stockpile of them all at once.

With more love, she loses less affection when you wrong her. Try to avoid starting anything before 100 love to avoid most headaches, above 150 love and interest you should have the keys to the kingdom.

Great adventure and super great adventure are required before you can start the DLC, you can finish before day 100 but you don't need to start it before day 100 either, leave it at your own discretion. As long as you didn't pick hard you should be able to fumble to victory. If you can't kill your opponent, having more hp percentage at the time of tie break. Do not take the blitzkrieg skill without having the skill that increases turn amount per battle, you lose more matches at 5 rounds than at 10.
I see. Okay, okay, good, maybe I panicked too early then.

So, keep training. I've read somewhere that I should have high energy every day, as additional events unlock then.

I was on just a single mission, but I'll keep subjegations in mind.

I see, good, good. Again, I got impatient then.

Thanks for the tips so far, I'll give the game another shot then.

Honestly I followed your advice and won the first fight. Lol. I guess just putting all eggs into one basket, that is attack, was that OP.

If I'm not mistaken, and you plan to play with the FFFox mod, then there's no real reason to use the Kagura version (aside from supporting it financially), since the translation will be almost completely overwritten by the mod anyway, as mentioned in the FAQ:

Q. Will this mod work with the Official Steam Kagura English version of the game?
A. Yes, though almost all of the translation will be overwritten by this mod. The mod is now a simple copy and paste installation, but you will need to also copy over the contents of the 'Kagura Compatibility Ver'.

I played a little bit of the fan translated, a week in game maybe, then bought the Steam version and honestly prefer that.

Another tiny hint to help winning battles:
In most fights you do not actually need to defeat the enemy. It is enough to have more hp than them at the end of fight (when the last round ends).

So one tactic i used in my run was to stack defense stats and spam block until you can do the expensive 3x dmg attack, also get counterattack skill asap.
Basically, outsustain the dmg and win by hp difference.

I employ such strategy in most strategy games, but so far I've managed to blitz through the fights in 3-4 turns. Either just always attacking with MC for 1 star, or three times the other girl fighter for 0 stars, then the big MC attack for 7 stars. I'm on day 75, weirdly enjoying the simplistic system (to be fair, I am sick as hell and on antibiotics, I do not have the brain power to play complicated games), an hour a day or so when I'm stuck at my house anyway is doable.

Actually, to summarize my strategy. Early game I put all my efforts into attack to end the fights ASAP (again, credit to TieFoon). When I got to 300+, so S in attack, I had enough money from guild activities (like 8-10k every time we got a summary) to start buying adventure books in a bulk. I know I probably should have visited the city earlier to buy training equipment, that's one thing I could have done more optimally. I'm only lagging in inteligence at 200, the rest is 260+. Nowadays I mostly do hunts, adventures with the sister and read adventure books. Any tips how to improve further?

On another note, does anyone have some tips to start stacking sister's interest some more? I got stuck at 100 for a long time. At least I get to have her be awake during the late night activities and she doesn't object, but from what I've read in guides, I need 150 or even 200 to get more. And well, I do want anal first, I don't see any mentions of lube in-game, so uh, any tips to achieve what I want? There's also her lust, but it flactuates a lot and is usually connected to activities that give interest anyway.

EDIT: I forgot to mention I made almost no progress with any other girls. I met Kasumi (the girl with glasses), didn't get an option to invite her to the team, did like one event with the healer and two with the other fighter girl. Well, tips for that, how to progress these routes?

for Kasumi, you need to visit the bookstore on the weekend and meet her in there. I forget the exact timing, but I think it has to be after you mention in the guild that you're looking for a new member.
As for making progress with them and leveling their skills, it's all up to RNG, just make sure you have enough energy after work/training so you can train alongside them. You can have an interaction with at least 5 ppl (party, imouto,Yukari, and A rank boy) before going home.

To raise affection, just keep cooking for and talking with her daily, eventually you can bathe with her, do it every single time, and save scum when cheering her up so she's always max happiness. It just adds up, same with fingering her ass until you can do anal. Anal dildo can be found in town to help with training.
Stamina regen items in the store are the best, you need better sleep to do more each day.
