I'm whatever on paywalling content but the several times I've seen devs paywall content they tend to paywall main girls/cast content which sets people off, which I honestly understand. The only successful game that managed to pull off paywall content I can think of is Henteria Chronicles because they don't paywall content with the main cast and it's all side characters.

Genuine question. Do you do the whole T.I.T.S. thing where you release something paywalled as free in a later update or is it just hard paywalled. I feel like if thats clearly answered people uh....should? be less venomous about it.
Every update, what was paywalled last update becomes free
Literally the ONLY change is that the free version now has the updated mechanics at the same time and the changelog tells you what you can get early if you pay that month

This is definitely gonna sound like spoon feeding but I think" X scene (paid content v.1.1, free in 1.2)" in the changelog would stop a lot of misconceptions.

A lot of people on the site are too used to those scam ai slop games that essentially release a softcore product for free and have the hardcore stuff permanently paywalled.

I see nothing wrong with the paywall. Sounds like it's the same thing Academy 34 does. We're still getting free content and a free game, the people that pay just get to play the latest version sooner which is fair. As a regular internet pirate I'm self-aware enough to know the creators have a right to make money, even if I'm not the one coughing it up lol

That's.... not really paywalling. That's just Early Access. If that's the case then it's not a big deal but better phrasing would work better. In most cases anyway because many F95 users don't know how to read or have goldfish memory and will complain anyway.

Well, people are realizing now. I mean, if your making enough money then more power to you. Just hope you realize that alot of fence sitters that may have been willing to spend money on your project will be pushed away by doing this.
Yup, I'm one of them.

How you going to release an update. and then have it only be paid? Basically released nothing then.
Even someone like me whos like yeah fam get your dollar. like thats kind of shitty to do.

Yeah the "EA paid now, allreleased for free later" is a good model imo. gives incentive
but when its just listed as "paid" kinda throws that assumption off in the eyes of "if you just want it paid then make it a paid game bro"

yeah its the phrasing that threw me off. words are important.

So, there is not much point in downloading now if you played last update then?
Pretty much. which im still kind of upset about. but oh well.

Man, this game is dead to me and others who live in countries that don't have the dollar as their currency. The price you have to pay for exclusive content in these countries is almost equivalent to $50 (not literally speaking), with that money I can buy two full meals at McDonald's. Unfortunately, a game that had a lot of future ends up dying because it's filled with content that costs more than two Stardew Valleys. Pirating games allows people with less means to access the developers' work without compromising their daily income.
