tutorial's borked lol. can't jump unless you restart. then you can't interact with the shower door. and if you skip the tutorial, you can't progress to get off the ship.

For me, content is all about the story. That is why I enjoy a pixel-animation h-game just as much as a visual novel with only CG. The story and the world need to have a good setup for the main focus of the game: which is the sex and corruption, lets be honest. The main thing everyone wants to see is the sex. The reason a good deal of people want good "gameplay" is that they do not want the sex to be effortless and happen too quickly (pacing).

Which is why gameplay can be anything from decision making and branching paths (lust stats, steering characters in a direction, like for example going down the "path" of a certain partner-character, or maybe going more for slutty vs going for a kinky route that is focused on a single partner or a select few, or that is doing it hesitantly but enjoying parts of it. There is lots that can be build in.

Other forms of "gameplay" can be decent combat (there is a few souls-esque horror-style h-games here like Sinistar(2) or Night of Revenge that have some decent gameplay aspects) or exploration (some RPG maker games make an OK job of that), or strategy-gameplay (conquering areas with your party or an army, depending on the game, by attacking enemy forces).

Menial tasks are part of the fun ofc, as long as they do not have to be grinded and as long as the "menial" aspect serves some story purpose or leads to h-scene progression or to help deepen the world lore or characters.

Example: You have to perform an exhausting, repetitive task each day. But each time something different happens. First time is new for you, so you are annoyed and complain, maybe you see new parts of the map. Second day you meet someone new. Third time you meet someone you know (the same person? someone else?), you talk to them. Maybe there is the option to let them help you. You do the task often and every few times something new happens. In a predictable way though so you dont have to guess when the "new things happening" are exhausted.

But yea. Each of these forms of gameplay can be fun. But obviously only if they are tied to the characters of interest, which are either tied to overall plot progression, characterization, worldbuilding or to sex-progression.

IIRC there was only ONE LoK game that was ever finished, and that was back when flash was still going strong

Man, what an excellent dev. From Dusty to R'Thoth to the Sakyubasu games... just absolutely brilliant. Hope he's well these days.

Funny thing is, the OG head of the project that got booted off already has a functioning game with way more content and which actually updates frequently.
You're surely not talking about Pizza Hot by Abelius, right...? He's been dragging his Patrons along for 4 years and that game doesn't even have a handjob in it yet afaik. There's a reason he's become infamous for it.

A game is not a game without score.
Pong, the simplest form I can think of, is a game.
Just two dudes scoring points.
Come to think of it I don't think you can really have a true game without some kind of score/scoring system.

Its... how we measure our abilities from a previous run.

That's how it used to be.

This is a different kind of game, and genres of all sorts have cropped up since the conception of remote controls.
I don't think a scoring system could really apply to this sort of game anymore, so my definition of a true game is just pretty much left in the dust.

What is important is what is fun, and that at its core is probably the best thing to go by honestly.

Does this feature make the game more fun?
Does this feature pose a challenge in some way?
Can I make this challenging feature interesting for the player?

Obstacles are cool, as long as they are implemented in a way that a player would just love to death.

Is it that bad? It seemed like it was getting content but I haven't played it. My bad. Maybe the whole dev team is now cursed.

The main dev is the same as the LoK 0.8, but it is actually quite eerie how similar the development of Pizza Hot is to it. I've been loosely following that project, because despite it's unfinished state i think 0.8 is quite fun, so i wanted to see how the next game went.
Basically PH got to 0.9 rather quickly, one update each month after the initial release with only a few days of delay here and there. Then the next 5 updates took a bit over 3 years.
Currently, the next 10 ( ! ) updates have been announced to focus on reworking the engine under the existing content and add new locations where the H-content starts from 0 again. The game is a "slow burn", which means, in 4 years of development FMC got to see a ponos twice and there seems to be no plan to progress the H-scenes further for the next 2-5 years.

complicated system and niche kink. :(

seeing their Krystal model knocked out and played with would be top tier.

Does anybody know why I can't interact with anything? It will occasionally let me open the door for the tutorial, but I can't interact with further/enter the door and it seems to be completely random as to when it will work.
