Can somebody explain to me why I can't equip certain weapons? I want to use a ranged weapon like the bow and fire wand, but the game refuses to let me equip them. What am i doing wrong?
I'll check it out and see if it's a viable method, did a similar thing with explosive barrels but that didn't work too well. If it's viable, I'll add it as an option to quest in the guide.ZedTed About Quest 666:
An other very easy way to kill the rabbit is to snipe it with the longbow.
It will still run after you, but if you run around, you can unaggro it.
Hell most of the time it's dead easy to bring it to the mercenaries and it'll take care of them for you.
Then, go back and snipe it again. Rinse, Repeat.
1) Blue potions refill ~60 (or was it ~80) stamina but damages your HP a bit and can be bought from the clinic or crafted with 2 White Dragon Weeds in a dark cauldron; White Dragon Weeds restore 10 stamina upon consumption. You can also rest (not sleep) on the floor when not in combat to replenish 20 stamina and Health for 10 satiety.This is a pretty damn impressive game. I'm loving the complexity and challenge. I've been trying to get forward through trial and error with mixed results.
Could someone who's a bit more experienced perhaps make a beginner's guide video or a written guide? There are just so many gameplay mechanics that are difficult to understand without a guide.
I have a couple of pressing questions regarding just basic survival:
1) I seem to constantly run out of stamina. Are there any cost-effective and safe ways to refill stamina? Resting at the in is very expensive and resting outside almost always result in an ambush. What are the most safe (free) places to rest?
2) How does prostitution and sex combat work? If I prostitute myself and give a handjob, do I just have to keep pressing the F button during the sex scene? If I'm being raped during combat, do I just need to press any random directional buttons? This is all very confusing to me.
3) Are there any permanent companions / NPCs in the game? I've only found mercenaries who come along for a day or two.
This is such a phenomenal game! I can't wait to learn more about it!
Uhhhh... You did a big oopsie. There are only a few ways to raise morality (how 'good' you are and how the law sees you): through random events like beggars needing food, doing quests (I think completing any quests give 1 morality but still need to check that), or by donating to the 'Saints Order Monetary' to the North (outside of Noer, North of the 'North pass Whistle Tower').i accidentally attack and kill the guard in Noer town and now they dont let me out so anyone know how to fix this?? i know we can sneak out but sometime is fail and they will attack me lol
Prostitute build? Hmmm... A pure prostitute build is the hardest build in the game due to the fact that you can only take the 'succubus' trait as your attacking skill, and the juicing ability is a difficult one to use. You would need to take the 'Nymphomaniac' trait because you would loose too much mood otherwise. The issue with this build is the inability to deal with non-juice-able enemies like animals and some infestation variety. The build I personally use is not 100% prostitute but more 95% prostitute.Hi. New here and just started playing LonaRPG. Anyone have any advice for a prostitute build? I'm still trying to wrap my head around the mechanics of the game, and I have some unspent Trait points right now.
Just wondering what the best build is for someone who's not really interested in combat and is playing the game more for the sex/prostitution/rape content, but who also still wants to be able to survive.
Thanks!
edit: related to my previous questions, is it possible/advisable to take the Timid trait if I want to play as a prostitute, or should I really be taking the Nymphomaniac trait instead? I'd rather take the Timid trait for roleplaying reasons, but I'm fearful that it'll make an already difficult game even more difficult.
Thanks for the response, that was really informative.Prostitute build? Hmmm... A pure prostitute build is the hardest build in the game due to the fact that you can only take the 'succubus' trait as your attacking skill, and the juicing ability is a difficult one to use. The issue with this build is the inability to deal with non-juice-able enemies like animals and some infestation variety. The build I personally use is not 100% prostitute but more 95% prostitute.
The build has the following:
the 'Nymphomaniac' trait (For mood and unlocking traits);
the 'Omnivores' trait (to eat raw food);
the 'Cannibal' trait (to get more raw food);
the 'Prostitute' trait (self explanatory);
the 'exhibitionist' trait (you are gonna be naked a lot);
and the 'Masochist' trait (not necessary but really helpful);
3 scoutcraft (for sneaking);
The rest of your points is invested into Constitution (for STA & sex ATK).
BUT you don't need that super-prostitute build. Going for the prostitute ability is available to all 3 personality traits. So a Timid-Magic build with prostitution is a really good build because the magic build is wisdom focused and that helps with foraging (the best money maker and surviving start in game). The only issue is that you lose SPD so you move slower, which is annoying, and that it's an expensive build for your weapons ('Rescue the man's Partner' quest is early on and has a good pay-out so you should do that).
You can always just do whatever you want in the end anyways, it's an RPG game. The only thing you should NOT do is distribute your stats evenly, that just makes your character bad at everything.
If you need more help, check a guide written by yours truly or ask for more help and the people here will be happy to help.
i m not a Gamepad player at all.I have only one critique about this game so far:
The Gamepad controls make no sense to me. It uses Select/Back as Activate. Y/Triangle is just left unused. A is Attack. I initially thought it was a bug.
I can't count the number of times I've accidentally hit guards and other NPCs because I pressed the wrong effing button.
Sure, I could use the keyboard & mouse but sometimes a Gamepad just FEELS better - especially for someone whose childhood had the Atari 2600 (then called the Atari VCS) and NES.
Otherwise, I have no major problems with it.
After sleeping off my original displeasure with this game, I deleted my original comment, and will try to present my case more amicably.
Within 5 minutes of playing, I immediately found the control layout to be - in my opinion - poorly considered. I am going to use the PlayStation layout to present my point, everyone knows X, □, O, △. In the present form, what these are is subject to how you hotkey them. Their default settings is X to attack, then □ and O pretty much don't matter. The Select button is your interaction button, and rest is nowhere to be seen, but it's hot-keyed to the Q key. R2 turns off your lantern and lets you run faster. What L1, L2, and R1 do, I'm still not sure. And the left thumb stick turns my character without moving, and off centers the camera. The control layout was tucked away under Notes, and it was not very helpful at all.
To summarize how I feel about this layout, I would say if this were my game I would be ashamed of this presentation, even if this is a Beta. I can't count how many times I've accidentally pressed X and hit a random person in town instead of the Select button. The standards of game design and controller layout are there because they've been discovered to be the most efficient. As the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
This is how I think it would be better:
- X should be your interaction button. Japanese games are weird in that they use O to confirm selection, but this isn't a Japanese game. Everyone else in the world uses X.
- The □ button should be your basic attack button.
- The O button should be your cancel/back out button, and serve no other function.
- △ can be throwing rocks, rest, or cast magic? I guess? It should be another kind of action that is frequently used.
- The L1 and R1 buttons can be your extra hotkey sub zones if you really need eight of them, with the L1+□ and R1+□ your dodge and heavy attack by default. Resting should be within those hotkeys as well if it's not set to the △ button. The rest of L1/R1 + X, O, △ can be whatever.
- L2 should be "hold-to-look," so Lona stands still and looks in a direction instead of move. Switching between Switching between the d-pad and the thumb stick gets confusing (I frequently play shooters, which typically uses the left stick for moving). I'd also remove the off-center camera feature too. It's disorienting.
- The R2 button is fine being the sprint button.
- The Start button should be the game menu, for adjusting volume, turning on/off fetishes, saving and reloading, show the default controls and other similar functions.
- The Select button should be your Character Menu, where you can check Lona's status, put points into your abilities, check your current quests - a staple feature that seems to be absent in this game, equip gear, eat food, etc.
Other issues are related to the game balance. I think the game balance is severely busted. It's not even an issue of the game being "too hard," it's a matter of the game making sense. Why does it take 20 hits to kill a rat? A hungry child could kill a rat irl with two or three swipes of a stick. It's a rat.
- The use of stamina and passing of time while walking across the map makes sense, but it's too high to make sense. How big is this city? Is each block a square mile? That would be beyond enormous even for a sword and sorcery setting. Walking just one block eats up more stamina than fighting, which makes absolutely no sense. The use of stamina across the map could easily be taken down to anywhere from 50% to 75% of its current consumption.
- The passing of time suffers from a similar issue. I don't understand why sleeping at the Inn doesn't take me straight to the next morning. Bypassing the nighttime, when outside more dangerous, is usually the point of staying at an inn. Almost every time, it's still night time after resting. If I do leave town in the morning, it's already dark by the time I get to the nearest forest. Time doesn't pass that quickly. The average person can go about 20-25 miles before sundown.
- I am not too fond the encounters within the city, but I understand why they're there. I don't know why we care about the guard patrols though.
- Speaking of the encounters... I'm still not even sure what triggers them, but that aside, I think they force the player to fail too often. Almost every time, I am forced to use the "Kyaa!" option. It's usually the only way to get away, but even then, you can't get away half the time because you're crawling. An analogy of my point, it makes sense of combat is hard because the player is in control. It is up to them to overcome the challenge. In menu encounters like these, it's solitaire. You either win or you don't because the algorithm said so. That's what is called fake difficulty. The game isn't challenging if I lost because it decided to say so.
- I think the trading mechanics of the game are over engineered. I get that it's supposed to represent haggling, but still.
And that's my opinion, for whatever it's worth.
Honestly, no. It allows you to set traps who's damage is based off item weight (you can pick up rocks for that) but it's not super big. Essentially, you consume an item to lay down a trap but you are better off buying a mine from Lisa in the Noer market at night.Is the Hunter Training any good? Does taking it prevent you from taking Weapon Expert or some other skills? How does Setting Traps work? Is Pickup Rocks useful? Is it only used for setting up traps?
I have 10 survival skill. How much damage does a trap do then? Does it kill most enemies?
I'd personally switch attack over to Y/Triangle and make A the Action button.i m not a Gamepad player at all.
i make it works because i can?
and yes, i can make gamepad able to binding by end user.
and i m kinda bored from writeing shitty story, i can do this now.
but whats the default key should i mapping?
"and make A the Action button"?I'd personally switch attack over to Y/Triangle and make A the Attack button.
just attack the traps. also, isn't it Scoutcraft that deals with the chance to disarm traps?Trap removal difficulty: in the quest with Grey Rat, removing the traps, even with survival of 20 is an auto fail. I think you need a minimum of 30 (?) and some traps (bombs) seem to need much more.
Does anyone know where this could be edited?
Yes, that's what I meant. Whoops. Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out."and make A the Action button"?
I don't think that's what he wanted to say. because if so I made a table with good info here. It's "only" up to level 60 but hey.the max lvl is 99 i'm lazy to do the table thing but you can try this " def xxx; $game_player.actor.level_up ; end " then in the console press xxx for level up each time until the lvl you wan to know, example from lvl1 up to lvl50 it show the exp bar -12345/23456... so the -12345 is the exp you need to hit lvl50.
Ill have a snoop around the game files.just saw a treatment at clinic aid(wound) have the effect of cure all kinds of wounds, and dragon root too, if you can figure it out, you don have to loop the sleep.
like this?I'd personally switch attack over to Y/Triangle and make A the Action button.
The keyboard controls are fine; I have no problems with those.
But the decision is ultimately yours to make.

A non-combat approach is viable as long as you have stealth and companions. Most quests can be done with the companions Cecily and Grey Rat, and they are hired for free; you only need to complete a stealth-based quest ('Rescue the Man's Partner') which you can read about in a guide written by yours truly.Thanks for the response, that was really informative.
So I guess combat is a pretty major part of the game and can't really be avoided? I was hoping that when it comes to dealing with enemies I could just sneak around, throw rocks to distract them, and occasionally be forced into combat and lose (since losing and being raped seems to be a part of the gameplay loop). But I guess if I want to be able to complete quests, a non-combat approach isn't going to be viable most of the time?
Even though my main focus is the sexual content, I'd ideally like to avoid taking the Nymphomaniac trait because I don't like the way it changes Lona's personality, so I guess I should just go with a Timid-Magic build.

Thanks again to Zedted for the help. Managed to change starting stats of the PC to buff her a little and make combat less of a slog.
Attacking the traps work but can be very detrimental to your health when it comes to explosive traps, it's best to just throw a rock on them to disarm them: it also reveals nearby traps so that's a plus.just attack the traps. also, isn't it Scoutcraft that deals with the chance to disarm traps?
A blue potion is 2 White Dragon Weeds, as long as you have the 'Dark Cauldron' ability you can make whatever you want even without the recipe book. The recipes you are talking about is on the counter of the clinic to the West, next to the scrolls, not Elise's room. That book contains Elise's secrets.So how do you learn to make Stamina Potions?
Is the recipe to make the potions in the clinic back room? How do you get there when Elise always stops you from entering the room? Even when you get him to your party during the Orc quest, the door remains locked.
