The dev is banned on most social media, forums, and imageboards (including here on f95), so I doubt he's much of a frequenter of anything.
But he apparently was associated with 4chan some 10~15 years ago, digging though what's left of his online presence back then shows he was drawing Warhammer 40k memes and some Skullgirls stuff. Maybe it's just my imagination but the way he used to draw Feng (one of Skullgirls side-characters) may be faintly reflected in how Lona looks.
The caricature is certainly jarring, but I would not say it's necessarily out of place, in the sense that Noer includes whole bunch of other caricatures and references to pop culture, media, and real life groups or events, the merchant just happens to be the one most people come across first, but the full scale of it is pretty wide and indiscriminate.
why is the dev banned everywhere? is he this toxic? or his art always triggers bots?

By the way Kenny567 do you know on what stats exactly does this 'Deceive' option depend? This option is unlocked after assigning 5 trait points to Wisdom and used after interacting to the door of some houses inside Noer. From what I tested so far, it seems to depend on WIS (the higher the better), on Dirty (the lower the better) and on Weak (the lower the better).

It's because this Lona's race has a mix of Moot on top of being an Abomination. Moot race specializes in stealth mechanics and has +5 SCU by default. In comparison to other races, Moot Lona doesn't need any trait points assigned into Scoutcraft to be stealthy. Most of the time, Moot Lona can cast skill and walk through many passages undetected, as seen in the video. Not to say that spending trait points into Scoutcraft and selecting 'Into the Darkness' is useless, what I'm trying to say is that, by default, Moot Lona is already stealthy enough to the point where going with the usual 4 Scoutcraft and unlocking stealth mode isn't mandatory.
Is 5 points in Scoutcraft equivalent for a non-moot Lona to be as stealthy? Or is it just some hidden stat exclusive to moot Lona?
Is moot Lona always like in stealth mode by default?

Ahh shucks lol.
Okay I've done a search of the code, and here's how the Deceive option works:
  1. Determine success criteria: temp_tar = 15 + rand(80)
  2. Determine success chance: temp_vs = $game_player.actor.wisdom + rand(100)
  3. If chance greater than or equal to criteria: success, else fail if temp_vs >= temp_tar
From this, we can see that:
  • Minimum WIS to always successfully deceive is: 95 [via spending trait points or equipping anything that boosts WIS enough]
  • There is a small chance of succeeding even at zero wisdom, though the option doesn't show up unless WIS Trait is at minimum 5
Notable Notes:
  1. The Deceive option won't show if Lona is exhausted ie: Stamina <= 0
  2. Each Deception attempt (using the Deceive option) costs 3 Stamina
  3. Regardless of option used, success or fail, only 1 attempt allowed per house per map visit

Moot Lona may have a hidden mechanics that works in the same way as stealth mode. Although stealth mode itself is just a way for Lona to be less prone to detection as SCU also increases Lona's stealth effect.

Just did some tests and yes having 95 WIS ensure the success. It's kinda weird though that it doesn't mention Weak stat anywhere (or I may have missed it) since having too high Weak will severely decrease the chance of success down to a negative even at 95 WIS. The Dirty stat doesn't seem to have that much of an effect apparently.

Because of content. Let me list a few:

Lona actually looks like a starveling waif which she is.
Lona is not some ultimate life-form straight out of the gate and can easily be overwhlemed
Lona can be inescapably enslaved
Lona can be severely abused, not limited to being impregnated then punched in the gut
The greedy merchant is a blatant stereotype

He loves verbally abusing anybody that does not fall in line with his way of thinking and even some that do.

I know for a fact that his Patreon was shut down. I think all his other pages are still running.
Somebody convinced him to submit the game to Steam for certified release.
He got one of those reviewers that is not okay with any of this game.
So now he hates Valve as well, being Murrican and whatnot.

^Before any of that, define toxic. Inb4 it's the fetish of calling anyone that don't share one's opinion a nazi.
From my observation of Eccma behavior before he was falsely evicted/deliberately quitted here, he seems a decent and approachable dude.

I would suspect the getter function for $game_player.actor.wisdom as a good place to start checking where Weak affects Wisdom, and after that the update functions for the HUD.
Scratch that, Weak is affected by Wisdom in all the search hits for "wisdom" I could see in the scripts...

As for the Beg/Deceive/Steal options, only Beg checks the Weak stat (the formula for which includes 1 of those search hits mentioned earlier in this post)

Could also be wearing something that boosts Weak and silently greatly reduces Wisdom.

Something else to note: The check to show the Deceive option specifically uses wisdom_trait [which is the amount of trait_points put into WIS], whereas the other wisdom checks specifically use wisdom [which is displayed everywhere else in the pause menu]

Can confirm that as most of the WIS related choice posted in

use wisdom_trait instead of total Wis combined (equipments), there's 1 or 2 exceptions, can't remember which.

That's a crock of shit, no offense. I remember certain itchio rants he would go on. He acts VERY unapproachable. He's either got some personal issues or he's just being edgy because he thinks it's cool. But yes, there's lots and lots of reasons a lot of people don't like him. It's not because people don't share his "opinion". It's because of his negativity.
