Ren'Py - Completed - Long Live the Princess [v1.0.1] [Belle]

Content: Roughly 7 - 10 hours of gameplay, depending if you want to get everything or not.

Writing: Pretty good. A lot of comedy.

Characters: Hot. Though tbh Belle looks a little creepy sometimes, as intended, I'm sure(?). Some characters' hair also looks a little unnatural, like Primrose's L'Oréal sponsorship or MC's sister looks like two hairstyles were pieced together.

Animation: OK. Some are better than others, but they're a little mechanical for the most parts but not terrible.

Most importantly you can impregnate most characters in the game which is amazing.

Guess I expected something more?

Artwork is meh. Renders look old and dated which is no surprise since the game has aged since 2017. Animation is just the usual bare necessity 1 second loop™.

Gameplay consists of acting like an independent attorney, collecting gossip and calling people out on their bullshit. It was the first time I saw this mechanic in a game and it was pretty cool until I took a few days break and forgot whatever drama was going on. A guide would've made this game more enjoyable but the dev seems very reticent about walkthroughs for some reason. Maybe he wants players to use this thread for advice to generate traffic.

Story is ok, there were some twists and predictable reveals here and there, but it wasn't that engaging and neither were the characters. MC was especially annoying, as if a highschool kid was teleported in that world. Also, there was too much useless dialog with Belle and him. I know it was supposed to be comedic but it was just lame, as if the dev was using that pixie to add his "witty" input.

very fun game with multiple endings and you can chose your path that you want to pursue, like if you want to go for a harem route or doing a no lover run which made it fun to chose which route i wanted to go and follow

I like the game very well. Solid 5/5 stars for me.

Characters 5/5 star : I like the characters specially Belle best wingman/wingpixie, best friend with benefits and her dialogue and rebuttals were the one always keep me laugh and entertain.

Graphics 5/5 star : Descent enough deserving a solid 5

Sex 5/5 star : Animation on sex is good enough. Even though I'm not that critical on sex about rating because for me as long as narrative is good it is good enough for me.

Models 5/5 star: Female models looks good and beautiful perfect enough for me.

Story 5/5 star: I like the story and also it was fun finding clues and solving mystery for each characters.

Short version: Yeah, it's pretty great.

The renders and animations are solid, and the character models excellent, with lots of beautiful girls with realistic proportions. (And unlike many of these games, the male models are equally high-quality.) The sex scenes are well done—though a little samey, and very heavy on molesting girls while they sleep (optional, but a big part of the lewd content). There's an epic fantasy story full of mysteries and plot twists that is actually quite engaging in its own right, and that does a good job justifying the MC's perverted actions, allowing him to be a "good guy" despite everything.

The gameplay is a well-balanced mix of adventure game and sandbox, with a cool clue/contradiction mechanic similar to the Phoenix Wright games. The game is challenging enough that it will probably take a couple of playthroughs to reach a good ending, at least unless you turn off the time limit.

And it's funny, too. Not to mention finished!

But I find myself most impressed by all the little details. Every aspect of the game oozes quality, from the fonts to the tutorial to the way achievements pop up. Even from the title screen (with gorgeous animation and a rousing sound track), it's obvious that this isn't your average Ren'Py VN. There's hardly a typo or English mistake in the whole game (except for consistently writing "fey" for "fay," but the ship has probably sailed on keeping up the distinction between those two words anyway).

This is a very professional production indeed. I almost feel bad for pirating it.

I think most of what I'd say about Long Live the Princess has been said already, so I'll avoid being my usual long-winded self. The writing is fun, the art is decent, and the game loop was certainly better than a lot of the other stuff out there.

Beyond that, I'll make one other comment - the incest tag on this game is real. It's not really my thing but it's a game and I had fun playing anyway. If that's a hard no for you, you'll probably want to pass on this.

This ero-game is definitely one of the best ero-games of this genre.
That said, because triggers are not always that clear (relationship triggers, perversity +1), maybe it's better to keep things not to wide optionwise. Thankfully the hint system does the job most of the time, and the new game plus system makes ``failing" inconsequential. The options not being too wide also helps with the writing being consistent and not all over the place. Here the story and the gameplay makes it worthwhile ero-aside.

An amazing game start to finish. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I dont usually play games without a guide but this one was absoluetly best played without one. The new game + features are great and make wrong choices soooo much less punishing.

Really well made game. Takes a bit of time and logical thinking to progress through the game. But when you do solve each part, its very rewarding and gives a sense of achievement.
I made the mistake of avoiding Leanan Sidhe after the first visit there that took me a while to figure out a crucial bit of information. All because I completely forgot that a to-do list exists on top of the screen. Make sure to check it from time to time.
Graphics and animations are good, but the lighting is a bit too dark at times. Not a big problem though. The content may be a turn-off for some people so I highly recommend re-reading the tags.

This game gave me a nice thrill from the beginning to the end.

The story and design are awesome and well written. Each character is memorable due to their personal stories. Most of their problems are connected with those of other characters, which makes everything dynamic and gives life to this game.

The puzzles and solutions made sense, and connecting the pieces was a lot of fun. I'm impressed that the developer did everything herself / himself.

I'm glad they decided to add an option to disable the time limit because not everyone is a fan of this feature, me included. There is a new game plus, which opens up more possibilities and content, which is an awesome addition and gives replayability.

I loved all the endings. Thank you for creating such an enjoyable game, and best wishes for your future work.

Version 1.0

With its completion, this game is about as close to a perfect AVN as you can get. Immersive story in which you build genuine relationships with each of the women. Lots of varied LI's to have fun with. Original and unique gameplay elements. Fitting and fun music. There's literally nothing I dislike about this game.

Really looking forward to Dev's next game.

This is truly one of a kind experience. I played a lot of games and I personally consider this one as one of the best of all time.

One of the rare games, that is simply good on every level.

Music, UI, story, renders, pacing, sex scenes, the investigative gameplay; nothing drags it down or is used to cover for bad parts. [insert rant about 5 star reviews based solely on art and ~potential~]

I also liked the options you get to tailor the experience for you, like making the time limit optional and leaving your degree of dickishness almost completely up to you.

Bad parts? I am honestly struggling to think of any, that wouldnt be purely subjective. I encountered a single non game breaking bug. During the end game a certain character had no reason, that i could discern, not to kill someone. Thats it.

A sandbox WEG with a lot of Phoenix Wright-style clue hunting / evidence gathering mechanics that actually work pretty well. The core game is pretty solid but a few small things annoyingly detract from the experience:

- The ways that romances evolve is unclear, and it's easy to get locked out of various pathways for the entire run or just not have any clear ways to progress. There are hints sometimes about how to advance romances but oftentimes they're absent, which can be frustrated especially when you have a limited number of actions to figure it out. eg. with Evelyn I got stuck because apparently I needed to kiss her with tongue to unlock the ability to give her a massage, but there was no quest hint about this.

- Relatedly, the overall time pressure is pretty high at times in the game, if you're not in New Game Plus mode and are actually trying to pursue all the activities available. In particular it seems very easy to get unintentionally locked out of the Primrose romance unless one really prioritizes her plotline at a key point in time. Yes, you can always try again in NG+ mode but this is not trivial.

- I did like that there's a pretty wide variety of endings to the game depending on how much progress you make on the main story - out of curiosity I tried a run where I just did nothing for 50 days and it went pretty much as expected (though shouldn't Primrose have stayed in jail?) One thing I'm not a fan of is that the harem end is basically a bad end, and apparently you can only have one girl flagged as your "girlfriend" or something... but despite this you still get to choose between a lot of girls on the "good ending". But only one at a time, gotta reload to see the others. Ultimately the game is pretty inconsistent with you being able to prioritize a single romance, but also you need to fuck all the girls to get the good ending, oh but also harems are bad so you have to just choose one or two at the end.

- I hate saying it, but the game deals somewhat callously with "problematic" content... I guess I'm used to WEG where there's mind control shenanigans or some flavor of perviness, but the fact that you are given the option to literally molest the girls in their sleep (up to and including fucking them right from the beginning of a NG+) is.. somewhat off-putting. And the "Morph Sexuality" spell is... yeah. The game sorta suffers from the "dirtbag niceguy protagonist" problem.

Overall the story/dialogue is nice and the girls are compelling enough. But I'm surprised that basic UX stuff like a more-explicit relationship tracker showing each girl's status wasn't included - would've made things much easier.

Story is okayish, 4/5. That is the only redeeming quality of game, sex scenes are very monotonous, you certainly would want to just skip through it, without proper walkthrough game is very messy and may confuse you from time to time.
Expected a better ending kinda disappointed.

Excellent game. All the characters have unique personalities, the girls are attractive, the sex scenes are good. The plot is good and actions have consequences. It's a solid length, and there are few, if any, significant bugs.

Got hooked with the story in the first 20 min of gameplay. Loved the character development and the writing was top notch. The graphics are also very good, especially the girls design.
