UPDATE 2025-07-12: Made a new post

I did my thing again, I kept the videos I think are worth keeping, interpolated and reencoded (AV1, 1080p, 60FPS) and normalized and renamed them all.
This results in 10 video files of about 190 MiB.

I'm not a fan of handbrake as it does stuff you don't want. I use ffmpeg with the great

. For the conversion I change the input depending on the quality of the video, usually "-c:a copy -c:v libsvtav1 -crf 28 -preset 1" for video with higher detail.

But for the interpolation I use Topaz Video AI first. And in the end I use

to normalize the audio. That usually works, but if it fails i correct it normally using ffmpeg, for example "ffmpeg -vcodec copy -filter:a "volume=1.2" ZZZ.mp4 -i [video]" for 20% higher audio levels.

You can use whatever you want, pal. It mostly depens on your goal and how you plan to achieve that. I guess that combination is great for rendering your own videos for let's say uploading them on youtube.

I use it to render and edit my personal collection of 3d and 2d, by using optical flow it smoothens the frames to 60FPS and it achieves the desired result.

Well sure, that is just another frame interpolation method. Be warned though: Some videos don't actually have the framerate the file claims. For example a video that has a framerate of 30 FPS might in reality only have 24 and some frames are just exact copies of the ones before. If you don't do anything about it before interpolation the video will look very stuttery.

Also there is the compression process. If you don't care about disk space you can just use a high quality profile. If you want to reduce the size while maintaining some quality it's much harder.
