Restarting the project, I switched completely over to Genesis 9 models, giving me much more realistic looking characters, which is amazing for a project like this. Here's a little preview of mom, everything still of course subject to change but personally I'm very happy with how she's turned out so far. (click to enlarge, it's a large image)

With genesis 9, it's also much easier to make people look more like each other, especially across genders. And being the sick fuck I am, I want the family members to look as much like each other as possible. Here's my progress so far with the faces of my characters.

They're all ugly AF. The proportions are totally off. The face should be divided into three equal sections - jaw, nose and forehead to the hairline. The ears are equal in length and position to the nose. Your models' foreheads are too small and they look like some kind of australopithecus.

Look, I just straightened out the proportions and the character began to look much more natural and attractive.

Not to mention that your models are absolutely bland. They have no charm or personality.

I love the character designs, they all have loads of personality. The voices I'm not so sure on. The sister's works well enough, but both parents sound robotic and inhuman in those clips. Cool idea, but for me personally the flaws that you get with AI voices would be a bit immersion breaking.
Thank you for the feedback! And yeah I agree the sister is definitely the most realistic of the bunch. It’s always difficult with randomly generated AI voices to make them sound lively (though not a problem when cloning an actual humans voice, but I’m not about to steal someone and insert them into my incest porn game).

I think I’ll tinker around with the concept and see if I can get some better results, if they’re good enough I might make the first release with voices and then going forward from there depending on the player feedback.

I appreciate the effort you went into here, but those are not the finalised models, they can be found on the post below that one. Though I think you’ll find that they still exhibit the problems that you’ve laid out in your post. But I don’t quite understand why you’re insinuating that every person on earth is perfectly proportionate in the way you’re describing? Or are you just describing perfect people? Nevertheless, these people are not meant to be perfect an they are relate, so of course their heads will be similar. But again, thank you for taking the time to give feedback!

You don't need to be so hostile about it. The models faces are "normal", normal is a range, not an exact measurement.

LOL! What makes you think that I'm hostile? I explained and showed what was wrong with the models. It's up to the author to decide what to do with this information.
And yes, there is variability, otherwise all people on earth would be the same. But variability is not expressed in basic proportions. It is expressed in the forms and masses of the face.

Tried out today just the render capabilities of my new setup, and was able to render this image in 4k (then downscaled to 1080p) in just about 15 minutes which is pretty crazy speed for a low light image, definitely not what I was used to. Rendering speed therefore will definitely not be a factor in making the game, since overnight I can render much more than I could ever set up scenes during the day so that's great!

The render itself is 100% non-canon to the story and won't be used for the game, just wanted to test out the characters I've made and see how they work together.

Hey, as an average mom-son enjoyer, I want to say a few things after seeing one of your render in the "MOM" thread while keeping in mind that you are doing this only for your pleasure.

1. I really like to see this project because you really have the same taste with me for nearly everything.
2. The new mom model looks ass-cellent ;)
3. Personally I prefer the old Emma model over the new one.
4. You can focus on psychological aspects of incest for "realism". I understand your concern about that topic, same!
5. Wise choice by using sprites for general conversations. Also I like sandbox stuffs if its well made, another good point.
6. It's good to have avoidable love interests. But personally, I don't like 100's of love interests. I don't know how many roots you will add but like a said, just my opinion.
7. Renders are really good. As a 2d/3d artist, I hate Daz3D which is you can relate I believe, but you create a really good job.

By the way, make mc's hair black and it's my identical twin, lol. When I first see him, I think my "mommy" dreams blind my eyes so I start to see myself in the render, lol :ROFLMAO:

Going to keep an eye on this one. I like the character designs, especially the mom looks very realistic for a curvy mature woman, not this ridiculous "30-year old mom with a 20-year old son" stuff we see all the time. The psychological aspects also sound interesting.

Are you planning on giving her some trimmed bush? Doesn't have to be a jungle, but clean-shaven MILFs look less realistic IMO.

character designs are good. its way to damn rare for an incest game to have family members that look alike. would you be wiling to post an uncensored version of the mom? since nipples and genitals are something that can make or break a game, you could get some feedback on that as well

I know her ass looks absolutely humongous in that dress, but I promise it doesn't look as disproportionate when she's naked (or in most other clothes, of which there will be many, characters will be dressed according to the situation)
I honestly think it looks fine. You don't see a lot of moms with junk in the trunk in these type of games either. If MC doesn't get a faceful of it at some point I will be sorely disappointed.

You sound like a person who knows some advance stuff, can you recommend some books/guide/resources where i can find more how to set right proportions?

Finally another update! I've gone so far away from the original post of this thread that it really bears some updating but I guess I'll get to that at one point or another.

I've been hard at work at the game and as you might see from this w.i.p banner/title screen, I've decided on the title Love Beyond Limits, and the character models have finally found their final form. Now onto some big changes to the game and thoughts behind it.

I've decided to shift gears and make the game more of a visual novel with interactive elements, instead of a full-blown sandbox. Why? As I worked on the story, I realized I got super invested in this very particular story of a mother-son relationship I wanted to tell. Building a sandbox with branching paths would have compromised that vision and made it much harder to create the authentic, grounded story I'm aiming for. So, Love Beyond Limits is all about the MC and his deepening relationship with the mother, no distractions.

On the other hand, I really enjoyed creating a sandbox world for the game, so in the background I slowly started groundwork on another game, a sandbox game set in a cyberpunk city with a lot of romantic options (a mom and other incest themes included most heavily of course). Something more "gamey" that doesn't have to have as grounded story as this one. But that one is in more of an embryo state right now, far far away, and I'll return to it once Love Beyond Limits is in a good spot in my opinion.

Now the important question: When is this fucking thing releasing already? First full episode is releasing this MARCH, featuring >200 4k Renders, few animations, and full SFX. In the upcoming weeks I'll start posting some preview renders so stay tuned! Thank you everyone for following and being interested in what I'm working on!

Very wise decision, as a hobby-dev you can be overwhelmed by amount of work for sandbox and abandon project very quick.

As I promised, I'll post some render samples on here leading up to the launch in march and here's the first few! Hopefully you can get a sense of the quality of the renderings the game will contain. These are all 4k so remember to click on them to open full screen to see all the detail!

1. The Family photo sits in the living room on a sidetable. The picture was taken four months ago and includes our MC's sister (who no longer lives at home), dad, mom, and the MC himself.

my god ... a VN that has characters that aren't plastic-y cookie-cutter clones made of pure blandness? With interestingly lit renders with some artistic intent behind them?? I am finally in the right timeline.

ZX69, I do not found your G9 characters ugly. It is very personal/individual taste. "Golden division" is statistic term, other way Angelina Jolie would be consider as ugly, especially with side view. Generally average is more "pretty" for most people, but imperfections are very important.
Anyway it is easy to recognize, that they are G9 (ref to 1st samples). I think it is better when characters looks unique, just like your second try. With G8 all milfs had face of Alexandra and teenagers Josie ;). Other hand it is good if you want to create relative persons.
Ref. to your realistic obsession. G9 is very well rigged. It bend realistic, moreover Golden Palace and Dictatator works correct with G9. Unfortunatelly there is one serious problem - hip/glute bending. I do not know if you are going to create sexual content. If yes sexual poses destroy reality. G8 had Zev0 bend morphs what was very helpful. G9 cannot spread and reduce depth of glutes when legs are bend. Most people do not care and there is plenty of renders with big butt women which looks very weird and proof that creators never seen naked glutes ;). The same with women laying back with gigantic saggy tits.
I hope that soon (before you start rendering naked scenes) there will be some bend morphs which make G9 "complete".

... and I REALLY like your style. Static view of scenes with sprites and accurate renders.
