False equivalency. Grinding with a purpose, with progress, towards a goal? There's a payoff. That effort is rewarded. Endlessly repeating menial tasks just because they're more realistic? The game needs to be built around that concept for it to work. Survival games are like that, and even they need to include a payoff--the menial tasks are a prelude to end-game content or come with bonuses for doing them properly, like being able to build or explore more efficiently, and usually get easier over time or as the player gets better tools or something. And all that fighting and leveling should be optional in Diablo
This? This is a porn game. The "immersion" that these pointless requirements might be intended to create actually detracts from what the game's intended features should be: porn, dialogue, and character development. As it stands, they're really just there to get in the way and give players something to waste time on when nothing else is happening.
Making these requirements optional would be an improvement, in my opinion, but they hardly make the game unplayable. Just...unnecessarily tedious. Plenty of people just cheat their way around them anyway.
