Okay I have no idea on how to fix my issue no matter what I do whenever I boot up the game after it loads I just get a black screen I don't even get the main menu. Am I the only one who has this issue? Has something significant changed in the past fifteen months since I last played this game that is causing this issue? For some reason I can't load the cache/shaders.txt file does anyone know why this is happening and how I can remedy this?

I would start by trying a different link and downloading it again. It's happened to me before; sometimes the archives are corrupted.

Also, try starting a new game. Saves from one release to another don't always work.

It could also be an hardware issue after a device change, or outdated device drivers, especially for the graphics card, or outdated hardware.

I have tried downloading it three times and I get the same result. I can't even get to the main menu to load at all, I get past the first loading bar and then it's just a black screen.

I am on Renpy version Ren'Py 8.4.1.25072401 and I only have a laptop and no other Renpy game is giving me this issue at the moment.

For MikeMC, buy her the sexy dress. There's a special date you can get where she takes you to the club and gives you a lap dance. The conversation implies she's working there. After that (possibly before, but I only noticed after) her icon will appear at the club some evenings and you can find her there.

Now I can't even load older versions of the game as it is now saying "Failed to initialize steam: Exception('steamapi.InitFlat returned 1 (No appID found. Either launch the game from Steam, or put the file steam_appid.txt containing the correct appID in your game folder.)')" in my log for the last version I had which is from last year over a year ago. What the fuck is going on?

is any indication, your Steam app is the problem here.

Try this: Make your PC squeaky clean and do a fresh install of the Steam app (uninstall>Clean>Install).

Did you by any chance mix Patreon and Steam version? If so, you need to download the same version you were using previously. Otherwise, it doesn't matter whether this happened before or after, as your Steam application seems to be malfunctioning. Therefore, it's best to perform a clean install of Steam.
You can also try this: go to C:\Users\your_name\AppData\Roaming\RenPy and rename your folder "LoSe_20_1-1512630773" (or whatever it was in your last version) to "LoSe_20_1-1512630773B". A new folder will be created when you launch the game. If the problem is related to save files, this could be the solution.

The archive I downloaded is 1.47 GB, not 2 TB. I don't know which network you're using, but I downloaded it using a 4G mobile connection to my PC (maximum speed between 2 and 5 MB/s), and it took about 10 to 15 minutes. Your log file doesn't show anything unusual, except that the game initialization doesn't seem to finish. There's not much I can do remotely. It's possible your antivirus deleted or quarantined a file; it could also be due to a change between your previous version and this one (for example, an upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11), and the list goes on...

Try this: before launching the game, hold down the Shift key until a settings window opens (this can take a while with this game). When and if the window opens, you can then try different display settings.

The simplest solution is to use unren. Download it (you can find it here). Place it in the game's main folder, where the *.exe file is located, and then open it. In the window that opens, you will see several options. One of them is "Enable Console." If you are using Windows, once in the game, press "Shift" + "O."

You can also create a text file. Open Notepad, type these lines exactly as they appear here, without the quotation marks:

"init 999 python:
    config.developer = True
    config.console = True"

Save the file (whatever name.txt), then, rename it to console.rpy. Paste this file into the "game" folder. Launch the game. You should now be able to access the console by pressing "Shift + O".

When I progressed through Cassidy's route, I successfully turned Cassidy into a pet, but at the end, there were only two options: "We should move on from each other" and "You should be my girlfriend." The option "I want to keep you as my slave" didn't appear. Is there something wrong with this?
