Lulzman1 Not really upset or "butthurt" friend, but if that how you want to imagine it. Sure, whatever floats your boat, bud.

I glad he is doing well for himself. All I saying is it's not really a tactic I would go with, but again, Not my game, not my call.

Anyways again the game is a great start and the art is pretty cool. I have very little to gripe about.

Honestly, you didn't have to be so aggressive to defend the dev. I'm not insulting you, him or either of your honor.

I am not talking about you in particular, rather about this entire thread in general. You gonna deny that 99% posts here is literally whining about them not being able to play things they for free? I love pirating games as much as the next guy, but this game is paywalled beyond imagining, you can't even pirate it at all to begin with. So reading this all nonsesne crying makes me question people's intellect.

I'm not defending him, I'm just gloating at people who are upset that things don't go their way.

Lulzman1 Just a case of bad timing, and my use of the word paywall. maybe a dash of me being on the ass end of long days of development. I am exhausted.

I formally retract my statements and wish you a good night friend.

The Audacity in greed in this blows my mind.

LOL locking saves behind a paywall. WOW, just wow. This is even worse than Last Man Standing and that shit of a game is known for predatory practices.
Note this lacks a way to skip text you have already read...
Very little content for an introduction.

This thing might as well be from EA or Activation. Seriously needs to to die in a fire.

I am looking at it from a consumer point of view. I do not trust deveopers, so I try their products and if I like it I then support it on Patreon. I did that with a few games on this site but specifically I learned about Good Girl Gone Bad and now I am donating to her game development. It's going to be months while her next game is being designed and I will still donate because she has created trust and good will. This greedy garbage does the exact opposite. It creates zero trust, and no good will.

While I am not entitled to this persons game for free. I sure can point out that I think this developer is going for short term profit at the expense of long term good will and thus hurting long term profit.

Hahah, god, I love reading people's butthurt at the morning. I mean isn't that clear the game is paywalled in the first place? Yes you gotta pay at least 5 bucks to get updates within a reasonable amount of time. And seeing you guys crying "bawww this will be his undoing" is just pathethic, but amusing at the same time. The dev had like 300-ish bucks/month in his prime before he launched this new Luna game. Now he's making more than 1200, I can tell that this paywall thing working just fine for him. I agree that this isn't a correct way to promote your game, but until it works - eh, whatever. Cope with it.
I wouldn't exactly say that the paywall is working for him.
The thing that changed significantly since he started making this game is his marketing. He actually started to actively advertise it. He's frequently communicating with patreons and other sites. Also he can churn out a new update pretty fast compared to WW, thanks to the change in genre.
This is the opposite of what he did during WW, where the progress updates were few and far between with short explanations, a couple of times he even vanished for a month. Also barely any marketing. The interest was there but I would wager most people didn't even know about the game.
Other than that his art has clearly improved and the game's VN format is a lot easier to present for the casual H enthusiast.

So no, I disagree that he only gained traction thanks to the paywalling. Sure he might have a few hundred bucks less without it, but these are mostly short term gains. Question is if it's worth the bad first impression and PR.

What happened to the 2nd WW game? Dead as well?

Okay, so it's a good start, and I like the art style. I look forward to future updates and expanded content. I just wish it wasn't locked away a paywall for some of its content, but its not my game so what do I know.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one and will come back to it for sure after a few updates.
As far as I know this is due to the way their game engine operates. One of the features is that your saves are stored in the cloud so you can save your game when playing on PC and continue to play on your phone. That means that the dev has to pay for the server. They plan to enable one save slot in the free version. Maybe they'll add a offline function later on.

But thats just what I gathered from their Patreon and im not involved in the development of the game in any way except being a Patron. I think its safe to say that this wasn't done to be malicious but rather to protect them from exorbitant server fees.

so how do i play this game it has a login ?
If you are a Patron you can log in. If not you play the free version (not logging in). You can't currently save your game in the free version but all unlocked scenes will be in your gallery and you'll be able to rewatch them.

Seems a bit weird to gloat about nasty anti consumer practices working out, but everyone has their weird kinks I guess. I wish I could read about a used car dealership scamming people in the newspaper, then pulling out my dick and go "oh yeah baby, that's it, scam those morons, just like that". Must make for an interesting life.

They're not as nasty as you pretend they are, people here are clearly overreacting. To start with the amount of content is too small to make it a big deal. Being a patron I completed the first version without any saves in probably hour and a half (because I just couldn't find the "save" button). And when I see these menchildren complain that they can't save and this is a total scam I can't help but laugh and gloat. And mostly I gloat at people who clearly have never ever supported anyone on patreon but whine about every thing possible. I mean there's absolutely nothing wrong with pirating, but if you pirate for life, why do you complain about stuff being "anti-consuming"? You weren't going to pay for that either way, and quit pretending that someone owes you something.

But I agree, in a long shot this a dumb practice of course, once the amount of content will be big enough this shit will totally get out of hand and in that sense you've all rights to complain, but I seriously doubt we will live to see that day, when this game will be big enough to take make it a big deal.

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

I think that it ultimately comes down to how patrons are treated.

Option1: Treat them like a customer and sell them a product/service. You provide a demo and hold back a few things to make 'em hungry for more. and hopefully, you get another customer.

Locking content with a confirmation of a Patreon account ensures that only the patrons can see that in-game content and try before you buy folks like us, only jet a small taste.

Option2: Treat them like semi Producers of film or stage. They are the Money backers that make these films and Plays possible. The money gathered frees the creatives to focus on making the product to the best of their ability.

More money doesn't always translate to more quality, but it can. The final product can be sold outside or in many cases, it seems they are offered up for free. the patrons-only get earlier access to builds and secondary content like peeks at shots of upcoming content and content that only they can see on the platform which they pay.

Yes, there are hybrids of this and have varying levels of success. but it comes down to are they Customers or are they, partners?

For this game, it's pretty freaking clear that Luna in the Tavern Dev sees it's patrons as Customers, and they are not wrong. It's honestly not all that anti-consumer.

Let's think about it a second. We're on a site where games are offered to us for free, and often full release of an otherwise commercial product. some of these offerings are even the full patron-only release versions of these titles.

if this was a game from Bioware, CD project Red, EA or any number of the Trip-A world, We would have our asses handed to us for piracy if they find us.

I am sure that many of the games listed here have their devs very aware that their hard work is being offered here for free and can do nothing about it. They simply don't have enough money to fight that battle.

But as a platform, this exposes people to these games and even near the top of the description bit show where you can goe to toss a coin or two to you pervert dev if you like what you got for free.

Luna's dev has found a way to sort of balance this while saving something back to get you to become a patron. My concern is what happens when you support them for one month but due to things outside of your control can't support it for a second or third month. What happens then?

I don't know, I'm just a perverted lurker trying to make his own game. and I've spent way too much time rambling on about this.

you can tough providing you have understanding of how the the engine works if there is something that enables these features its a question of finding that specific script and altering it its not different then other forms of cracking its likely just going to take time before someone founds a solution also piracy is a service issue provide me a good service i will easily give them money(not to mention that patreon is originally a donation site donations are voluntary)
give me a bad service and i wont right know i will just wait for someone to crack said features
and this being the internet the chance that someone somewhere finds a way is very likely
doing this does not make the author more money but rather tend to have the opposite effect just like denuvo games being cracked the fastest you give them a challenge and good enough coders will take it so yes you have to pay........for now

Top level art, cool and funny stories but without too much of text and without any bs pointless clicking or grinding, this is how you make a porn game folks. Watch and learn. Personally I would like to see some Lina or Windranger content here in a later versions. Cheers.

Wtf, 95% of the ppl here are pervs, who to hell wants log in porn game? I do not even use any porn sites ever where you need account. Wake up dev -_-

the writing in this game has some room for improvement grammatically, but other than that and the insane paywalls, it has a lot of potential and I look forward to its evolution in the future. Also if you need help touching up some sentences, I'd be more than happy to look through them and adjust them.

TitDang's games always seem to have a lot of potential but the developer/s have a habit of not finishing the game and quickly move to a new one. It's like the fear of patreons losing interest and slowly not support him so he instead moves on to another one to hype up their interest.
well fuck me, that reminded of bright sun Studios...

Thanks for that
