I moved far from my childhood home at 13 and years later in my mid 20s I went back to visit some old friends that I'd stayed in touch with. They threw me a party and invited a ton of old friends that I hadn't seen or heard from since I'd moved. I didn't recognize any of them. I also hadn't seen a few cousins for over 8 years and when we had a family reunion I didn't recognize some of them either. There is nothing unbelievable about this situation in the game.

Just downloaded v0.4 having not played this since v0.2 and just reached the bit where it's been changed to Sandbox.

Inceton use to release a bunch of special render for Halloween and other holidays.
Sometimes they get leaked here, sometimes not.

In this particular case, the leaker seems to have leaked just those three and just there.

I don't know the technicalities, but basically when you run a Ren'Py game you run an .exe, that loads the Ren'Py scripts.
You can unren the scripts, but the authentication 99.99% is in the .exe, so unless someone is skilled enough to decompile the .exe, and reading the assembly code find the login procedure and bypass it...
...extracting and decompiling the Ren'Py scripts is useless, because if the login fails it's the .exe itself that automatically quits.

I guess that there's someone that can do it somewhere out there, but while bypassing a Ren'Py check is something 80% of us can do, tampering with an executable requires high skills.
And after it's done, well... It's not the original executable anymore: who knows if the cracker only cracked the login routine or also put some malware in it?
In the Nineties cracked executables were used as baits to spread malware.
Old timers like me will remember how many times we had to format the hard drive after visiting astalavista.box.sk

LMAO . depending on how they have implemented it all that will really change is the update being delayed posted here for security reasons or the time of someone who is good at programming and reverse engineering . at best all that has to be done is edit the script file to remove the patreon check or at worst having to emulate whatever type of restriction/DRM they have put (can't be worse than a session key)
If the login were implemented in Ren'Py or Python, it would be relatively easy to bypass it.
But couldn't they have embedded in the executable we launch to launch the game?
If so, the only way to bypass it would be to disassemble the executable and make changes in the assembly code, am I right?
But while reverse engineering a Ren'Py or Python source code is relatively easy... Reverse engineering an assembly is quite hard.

I do not have a lot of experience with Ren'Py, but I am a developer and I am pretty sure that even if the login code is in the exe, you could just take the Ren'Py scripts and assets, copy them into a new Ren'Py project and just compile/package it again without the restrictions.
But I currently do not have a download for the restricted version so I can't test my theories. If anyone has a link so I can try some stuff please write me.
Edit: unless they encrypt the whole game of course but I have never seen someone do this with a Ren'Py game

This forum is pirate yes, but it certainly gives a lot of exposure and visibility for a game to be supported on Patreon, SB, etc. I'm sure if it wasn't for this site many of us would never have discovered our favorite games, because who uses Patreon to explore new games... if not just to support the creators?

If that's what the developers actually want, I'll agree with you.

Take the Inceton Games Team, for example they clearly don't want that, which is why they've implemented security measures to prevent piracy.
Your argument just sounds like self-justification for playing the game for free, doesn't it?
