Good job, just patched it myself too. You just need to override one function, and that way it won't error.

Just place zz_patch.rpy in the game folder.

the version we all are playing is prepatched so we do not have to worry about it so you will not see it but if you download it else where you will see it pop up on you

But i can def see a problem even with what you're saying.

Scenario for future..
person X stops supporting at version 0.4.1, Allowed to play <= 0.4.1
person Y stops supporting at version 0.4.2, Allowed to play <= 0.4.2
person Z stops supporting at version 0.4.3, Allowed to play <= 0.4.3

So basically they need to keep track of "payment" from users over multiple versions.
This is going to be a nightmare.

Or lets say, person X stops supporting at version 0.4.1, plays half though the game.
goes off for 2 months of work or vacation.
comes back home and wants to continue where he left off.
Can he or can he not play the game now?.

I am not liking what i am seeing so far.

DRM I can understand, I hate them, they are anti-consumer and it will always lead to less supporters, but I understand the desire behind it.

Anti-cheat systems? WHO CARES IF SOMEONE CHEATS THE STATS ON YOUR VN, IS THERE A LEADERBOARD? WILL IT HURT YOUR VN SPEEDRUNS HUH?

All this wasted time in stupid measures and then converting a VN into a Sandbox mess... I wasn't familiar with incenton, but now I might have a grudge.

using the patreon api you can check the date of the last pledge and total amount pledged, this is usually how other games do it. It doesn't really cost them anything, they just need to keep track of the release dates of each version.

Yeah, I totally agree.
I can understand anti-piracy because they legitimately want their work to be paid.

But anti-cheating? Come on!!!

Cheats/mods ENHANCE user experience, and BROADEN the audience interested in a game!

Spending coding efforts just to piss off players (including those paying for the game!!!) is utterly dumb.

you can see that the "pirates" is the ones supporting the game

look at this poll results from their patreon . if it was not for sites like this they would not be as big as they are rn .

they may not want it but they cant deny that it was good for them .

i don't think this patreon verification will last long . its like the ad code all over again. years ago inceton made it so that if you dont input a code you got from patreon every 5-10 min the game would pause you would be forced to go to their website if you want to continue the game . that changed nothing pirates were still able to play ad free and many legit users were not happy with the system so they removed it .

Yeah, I saw that poll

They could think: about 300 of our patrons decided to support us because they played for free downloading from a pirate site and decided the game is worth paying, but thousands of people sitll play for free pirated games. If we implement anti-piracy at least a part of them will start paying.

This game is an embarrassment compared to the real games from incenton. No hints, no walkthrough, just wondering around a boring map. Their games just get worse and worse. I miss the real games from when they first started.

weird question i did like the 4 events from this update, but is that it? or am I somehow supposed to continue somewhere because I don't see it. usually you would get the standard " update ends here " but I'm still in free roam and I don't see any events left
