If i'm not wrong, he is waiting infront of the bridge for you and you give him there the sticks / or the planks (if you refuse to collect the sticks). Not in the tavern self.

Why i cant edit the gold and skill

I remember gold being trick possibly named it something else. note down how much you currently have, exit game and load save to 1 or both these editors . sometimes one editor finds what the other missed. sometimes the gold amount number is listed twice and both may have to editor . its like their fail safe to screw you.
