Like, look at this poll for the planet.

View attachment 2681634

Three VERY interesting options, and then there's Akra, and Akra WINS???
"...we go back to Galiano..."
Now it all makes sense. They voted for MOAR Galiano content.

Even though he's my favorite, I'd rather propel the story forward with new planets than hang around Akra

I mentioned furry as a catch-all term for non-human sex. I didn't mean anything else by it.

I personally really like this game, I think it's a gem among gay-leaning projects.
A ton of movies, books and media set in space feature only humans or very human-looking aliens. I don't see it as a problem per se. Bigger and better in this case seems to be a matter of opinion. You think they're essencial, a lot of people don't.

Either way, you missed the point of my message, which wasn't about my personal opinion at all. I was just surprised that people continue to be shocked about patrons picking humans over non-humans when they have done that since that Patreon was set up.

I do agree that game design by committee is where creativity goes to die.
Well, about many human in space game
Good example is this...

Infinite star VN
In itch and this site.
They've alien yes but there's also many human which "Different type" like most of them you can romance but they are up to your choice.
They can be just friend and have good writing too.
Why i brought this up? Because there's new character aliens or always considered other thing not focus around only human or some character (some might but it's not like other don't get it)

In this game there was no anthro or specific furry, maybe it's about content writing.

There's many human yet at the same time, alien have their own role or content which doesn't cut out.
I think maybe... It's about time we stop focus on one character, there's time content on ryan and this time galiano which almost big amount content their got.
Sure ryan brother is interested in our relationship with ryan so i understand about his content.

Oops, I was one of the people who voted for the human-like Chip, sorry! It just sort of makes sense to me more than having him be a random alien species or having him be too mechanical. Iirc, story-wise, it's supposed to be a synthetic body that he picks out for himself, so I figure he would go for something that resembles something human and is familiar to the MC?

I can see why some people would be miffed about there being more human characters and content compared to the aliens, but, honestly, I find it kind of refreshing. I feel like most adult games that feature fantasy races have very little human characters, if at all, because I guess it would be too vanilla and every character must cater to a certain fetish. So I, personally, enjoy games like LO and LD that still have content that can appeal to those who don't particularly care for furry/non-human stuff.

Also, it's not like the human characters are the only popular ones. Non-human characters are still doing well in the polls, Bradley came in second this time, and Hakkon and Alastor also did OK.

I voted for Earth on that other poll and was pretty surprised that Akra ended up winning. I was fine with the result in the end because I wanted to see where the Garth plot would go, but Galiano also ended up winning the character poll and so the update was only focused on him, so I'm pretty annoyed about that.

Ugh, I got meta-human on patreon for one month to see the Chip poll, and these people have no taste in robot-fucking

<picture snipped>

Detroit androids, really? Why not just make him a normal flesh guy at that point.
Like, look at this poll for the planet.

<picture snipped>

Three VERY interesting options, and then there's Akra, and Akra WINS???
Imagine having the potential to fuck almost every alien race there is, and people choose to go back to the starting city. Also having robots as an option in an ALIEN/MONSTER-FUCKING GAME, and they continuously choose humans at every option.
"I DON'T LIKE CHANGE!" I can hear them screaming.

Meanwhile I just wanna fuck more things like Bradley, but hey that's just me. Don't really gaf about Chip, Rylan, etc. Anything that is "Human" or "Human-like", I just don't really care for. Humans are boring and uninteresting and there's thousands of games where I can fuck humans. I'm here for the weird stuff. I'm here for Bradley, Hakkon, Garth, etc. Hell, even Katari and Egon are really boring to me because they're just "Human with some variations".

or maybe finish all content at slitiya (note i forgot planet name).
*snrk* "SLIT"iya, I get it, because they're dragons and probably have slits? :sneaky:
Unironically, I find that really funny and the planet should be renamed to that.

Compared to what? The vast majority of games available are just human or furry (not that I mind the latter). It was cool to see a gay alien game for once, but yet still we have a ton of human/human-like options and it's just kinda weird. It'd be like making a World of Warcraft game and only focusing on the human-like races for awhi--- (*taking a potshot at LfA*).

You're free to like what you like and vote how you want to, but it's just odd to me after all these human games exist that people want more humans.

The games I had in mind are like Corruption of Champion/Tainted Space, which are pretty similar to Lustful Desires/Lust Odyssey, and probably inspired them, but have a very clear focus on furry/alien characters and the associated fetishes (like every other character having a giant horse cock for some reason). I found the initial settings/stories and character building/creation mechanics to be pretty interesting, but there is really nothing there for someone who doesn't enjoy furry content. This is why I like that there are alternatives to them that feature human characters and vanilla sex more prominently as an alternative

LO and LD are also intended primarily for a gay/bi male audience, which is also pretty rare, as far as adult games go. Or maybe not exactly rare, but there are a lot less of them compared to straight games and especially very few Bara games vs BL. The reason I had a look at CoC/Tainted Space in the first place was to see the gay content they offered, and there was annoyingly very little of it, and like 99% of it is also bottom content, which does not appeal to me at all.

This is just my perspective and what I am looking for when it comes to LO. I can definitely understand that, for someone who is interested in the alien content only, the human characters having so much prominence and getting so much content would be frustrating, especially with how new planets are still not becoming available. It will probably feel like there aren't enough aliens for a while because a lot of the locations are still in development and haven't been created yet. I think that, when the game starts to really expand, it would stop feeling like the human characters are getting too much attention.

I think most players like this game because of the hot setting and good writing, not because they want to fuck monsters / aliens / robots.
Then I guess I'm in the minority, because the latter are the reason why I play this game, and I'm not talking about "recolored humans pretending to be aliens". As a xenophile / teratophile, it's quite hard to find a decent game with proper monstrous and alien looking NPCs that aren't just your stereotypical cannon fodder, dumb enemies. Even more so a game that allows a female protag with a backbone, or dom position, and not just some vapid bimbo cum dump (even though you can play it that way).

I understand that actual monsters and aliens can be the opposite of "sexy" for some people, it's just that... the polls feel unfair IMO. If the majority of your player base only cares about one thing, then that's the option that is going to win most of the time. It's a perpetual cycle of making game for one particular crowd, which attracts more like-minded individuals, which means more like-minded votes. IMO, if a particular theme won on the previous polls, it should be temporarily locked out from the next one or two.

Alternatively, just be honest with the player base and say you are only interested in developing the kinks you are into and leave it at that. I guess it's better to specialize in something and do it well than adding content just for inclusivity's sake, and then make it shallow and boring because you don't like it...

I do agree that game design by committee is where creativity goes to die.
A big difference / niche this game has, is it actually has tons of very good alien designs, and you interact with them / actually having sex with them from get go - which is where the "huge potential" lies.
But then it's rolling downhill sorely due to Patreon votes - strictly stick to "Human contents".
  • Which I kinda don't understand, How a brilliant dev then be dedicated by the un-creative mass - maybe design aliens are too hard of the work for his liking? So he just stick to easy money?
  • I thought the Patreon vote was just for "Priority"(meaning we get "human contents" first, but the rest would follow), but it seems it's actually "Direction" and "Contents" (so we won't get the "rest" at all)
Essentially if this game started like one of those you mentioned (human focused), it will be a different story.
But right now it feels like a "direction shift".
Well, about many human in space game

Unfortunately for Infinite star VN:
  • Its background is actually not "space", but "Spaceship" - your are mainly interacting with your shipmates - which are only human
  • There's only one Alien race atm, which means "Alien" is not a focus.
  • It's mainly Female audience targeted (as a gay man, I find scenes sometimes are very awkward)

People like to shit on Pateons, you don't really need to justify your vote. Tho it's interesting to see the other side of the coin :p
I actually understand where you are coming from - your options / choices are way more limited:
Those who like alien / furry porn won't shut done good human porn (at worst find it boring);
On the contrary, people only interested in human contents most of the time hv sexual distastes towards non-human.
The situation is kinda resembles "Lust For Adventure" only that is "Straight" VS "Gay", but the dev come clean about shifted to gay focus cuz that's what he want his game to be.

That said, The quantity of "Human only/focused" gay porn game are way more than "Alien themed", only thing close is Furry VN (apparently gay furry artists love to create VN since it's work adjacent).

BTW, CoC/TiTs are actually a totally different genre from LO/LD: They are TF (Transformation) walking sim - which nets to highly customizable body parts, and it heavily focused on Futa. (A more gay weighted entry will be "Flexible Survival")
While LO/LD is more in line with VN with elements of RPG, and LO is / was very unique in what it offers.

Anyway, since it's still a WIP game, let's hope what you guys voted for is on for "Priority", and the rest is yet to come

What is Rylan's romance route like? I mean, can you sum up his attitude in a few words? Last time I played the game I chose to decline to have sex with him at the first opportunity and he was a very "neutral" crewmate after that point, so I still don't know what to expect from him in a more involved relationship.

I think the Patreon polls prove you're the minority indeed.

While I do understand wanting to cater to one's base audience, I think letting patrons choose almost every aspect of the game makes a project creatively backrupt. I wouldn't do it to my game if I had a Patreon.

It seems like the author has different ideas and wants to do a bit of everything, but the Patreon keeps railroading him into the same characters over and over. Personally, if I were him, I'd remove the always-winning-human choices from the options for a time and only give options that are different, in order to have the game go in an unexpected direction.
Or just stopping letting patrons decide as much as they do regarding content. However that can lead to people stopping their support, as a lot of peeps just support in order to try to cater to their own interests.

A big difference / niche this game has, is it actually has tons of very good alien designs, and you interact with them / actually having sex with them from get go - which is where the "huge potential" lies.

As far as I remember, from the beginning this was more human focused. Aliens were there by Rylan had the most content.
Still, as I said above, I agree that simply sticking to Patreon votes kills creativity in a project.
It does seem like we won't get "rest".

You can choose romancing him or being his slave/master (depending on attitude) as far as I can recall.
I've never played the romance route, but on the slave route, he's dominating, mean, aggressive and overall everything a slave can hope from a master in such a game.
