I'm kinda surprised my complaints about the story are what you took issue with - I was (for my story critique at least!) genuinely trying to be constructive in my criticism. I'm sure you noticed that I took the gloves off when it came to the game mechanics lol.
But RE: the story, it definitely made me feel the things I mentioned - sad, upset, depressed. I don't feel I was out line to point that out. That might be what the dev was going for, but if it is not what he intended I assume he'd like to know. I may not always be kind and helpful in my feedback, but I do try to offer my honest thoughts and offer criticism that I hope will provide at least some value to the dev.
In a few cases, there are games here that mimic movie plots. That's my point about not second-guessing the Complete Game when it's just started. Every movie, game, and book progresses for a reason; wait and see what that progress is. The MC's tribulations at the beginning are textbook movie troupes. And that is definitely what the dev was going for. We are not used to seeing that here. Most writers here are inexperienced. Nosey Gull did a great job, IMO.
Mechanics can be tweaked and improved fairly quickly by a competent coder.
And you're boasting. You "took the gloves off, lol," About the game mechanics even after you were told it WAS an RPGM game. Man, that's cold.
The irony is that games like this require a lot of preparation, hours spent constructing a narrative, planning shots, and creating the art. Then maybe redoing some of that and the many other tic-tacky things—months and months—just to have many here complain.
I saw that some words were misspelled, and the grammar and syntax were a bit off, so I fixed it because I appreciate the work that went into the game, and my help might make it a little better.
