How do you get the npcs to do the jobs assigned to them? I have al the required structures but the only thing I seem to be able to get them to do is fight, the lazy fucks won't work.

You need to move them close to their workplace and set their move range to include said place.

where is the blue flag ?? you mean inmap..that one just fast travel to beach??
after progressing some main quest, after you go back to the first beach itll trigger a scene and you able to make blue flag in the iron workbench.
and is there any other way to be a male character in the starting of the game? or it's the only one where you start as yona and switch the male at the campfire?
male and female mc come from different ship so yeah male MC basically already stranded before female MC.

Can anyone tell me where to find the items a large female native can equip? I'd rather have them wield something blunt so I can capture raiders
I captured some female tribal NPC's, put them in the cage and they became MAX but when I take them out they faint... I keep them on the floor just waiting and the message "a female tribal wakes up" appears but nobody wakes up.

Yes I mean of course... they're lying on the floor unresponsive. I mean what's with that? because I just let the game on the background running and the game's time progresses but they lie there forever.
If you use cheats, do not deploy npc's while having "not consume items" on. It'll bug out the npc
don't drag&drop them. rightclick them inside your hotbar
you can check every npc's equipment that they able to use in gallery.
Just press shift + P in main menu.
but yeah it basically spoiler you the whole game NPC, equipment list etc.
afaik large female native can only use their own axe. no other kind of weapon they can use.
