Can someone explain to me why there an angry horde chasing me?
To add what flannan said:
These raids happen if your MC gets discovered by the 3 men patrols around the island. You may have noticed them. (You can also start the manually by using a horn made at the meat bench)
Then in the notifications there will be a message ala: "MC (Man/Yona) has been discovered." This will trigger a raid after a certain amount of time.
The raid focuses on your unit if you have no natives tamed, otherwise they can be focused and kidnapped if not saved beforehand. (Then a 20 minute timer will appear, in which you have to save the NPC before they'll be killed for good. WArning tho: Female NPC will get raped after 10 mins passed)
You can channel these raids on a certain NPC by giving them the "Decoy" charm, which you can get from killing the main guard at one of the camps your NPC got kidnapped to.

To further add to this, main names NPCs won’t be targeted and can’t be kidnapped currently.

This is a "raid". They happen occasionally, and they randomly choose a target. You're supposed to kill them all, but you can also let them "kill" you and respawn.

Uh, guys? 256 enemies is highly unusual for people who don't intentionally farm raids (with totem and dummy boosts). Under normal circumstances that would require a combined level of around 5020 for both Man and Yona, without dummies or Chaos Totem boosting enemy numbers.

Looks like someone been cheating XP. Known issue especially on older versions, with /xp sometimes glitching and boosting the enemy count far beyond the usual character level scaling. 0.4.5.x fixed this somewhat by putting a cap on the number of raiders without dummy/totem boosts.

Anyways this needs Leaf Mascots (craft from Plant Workbench) to fix at this point. Or start a new save without using /xp. Or some way to disable raids like putting a Decoy Charm'd NPC indoors or in a building over 2m high or over the ocean or some similar invalid location... until they are ready to face these many enemies or can craft enough Leaf Mascots to bring the numbers down to a more manaeagable level.

Or use the /creative cheat in version 0.4.5.x to disable raid scouts.

first time playing this game, can someone help me with tips on what to do for starting?
Pick up stones and branches, pick the sapling-looking "bushes" for fiber, craft an axe (hammer icon on lower left), PUNCH WOOD chop trees, craft a wooden workbench, craft rope (4 fiber, scroll down until you're midway), put wood and the rope and a stone inside the wooden workbench, craft a wooden spear (+8 attack). This should be enough to give you a headstart.

Equip the wooden spear. Sneak up on deer (and pigs and rabbits) from their back (just run, no need to walk). Heavy attack (press "F") to kill them in one hit. This will give you animal hide, which you will need to craft flags (fast travel points) and waterskins. You also get meat. Cook this at the starting campfire. Or make another campfire if you want.

Remember to pick berry bushes you see for easy food and water. Also chop more wood. Oh and place down flags as you go so you can fast travel to them later. Especially if you find a point of interest.

If you're spotted by native scouts, you can hide in caves to avoid the later raid that will come. Alternatively you can hunker down near the starting campfire with wooden spikes (6 Wood to craft). Place them around the campfire while leaving a small entrance facing south.

Follow roads (easier to see with "M" map) to reach places with quests to progress the story line and unlock more crafting options. And hostile villages to pillage, if you're up for it.

Iron can be found in sparingly on the surface in grey rocks with minerals jutting out of it. Iron ingots can be smelted with 10 iron (ore) per, using the furnace (craft this by hand using 50 Stone). Iron is important to progress beyond the "Wood" tech level.

More reliable sources of iron can be found in the Spider Cave to the northwest (no direct roads from the starting beach), or the South Mine to the northeast (follow the road north to a small village, then further NE to a massive settlement, then cross the river east to reach the cave). These respawn whenever the "cave" map is reloaded so you can plonk a flag next to 3~5 iron nodes and spam fast travel to refresh them after you finished mining those.

If you wait until there is less than 10min left on the timer before entering the rescue area then she will be and you have to kill the guard to rescue her.
only native females and native girls though, and not if they are pregnant.
