Anyone help me understand why milkers aren’t producing anything? I have 4 milkers set up with preg female natives, 2 tamed, two not, and an Elder sister on livestock duty. Still haven’t had any production for days now.
Ah, I’ll try set the tame ones to livestock when i get the time. Welp, kinda sucks i can’t milk freshly preg captures, but ill just head cannon it.
Only natives that have successfully given birth at least once can lactate. Miscarriages and abortions don't count. Since non-tamed natives can't give birth (even though they can get pregnant), you can't get any milk from them.
The rate of milk you get slowly goes up over time the more an NPC gives milk. Breast size and number of pregnancies/births (beyond the first birth you need to even get milk in the first place) don't affect the amount of milk they give.
Natives being milked don't need any job role set to give milk. The Livestock role is for other followers to take care of the ones being milked (and actual animal livestock). Natives being milked will slowly lose food and water over time and they'll stop giving milk if those drop too far. They can't replenish food and water normally so they need other NPCs with the Livestock job to give them food and water.
One NPC on livestock duty can take care of a lot of milkees. I haven't tested how many they can cover, but from personal experience one NPC taking care of 3~4 others has enough free time to even do other livestock duties, including milking the, well,
actual cows.
