I just ran into a funny bug where there is a slight chance that when you give growing potions to Yona's Daughter, It will spawn a friendly Male Native that has the same name as the Daughter, And a hostile Young Lady simply called Young Lady,

Here's a picture View attachment 5620922

This happened in V0.5.3 and I have no idea if it's in the new version as well, I tried to recreate it but it never showed up again, So it might be a rare bug
I had Yona get knocked up by a dlc male and when I tried to age up the son it just swapped to a dlc male, which would swap back to a son when I tried to age up again.

Actually, I'd never heard that before

And so, in that context, what are the letters supposed to mean?
They are all Artificial Intelligence.

Oversimplifying, AI is any automated system that controls something based on a set of parameters. Enemy behavior in game is controlled by an AI. PC gets close -> Attacks. PC runs away -> Chase. That kind of stuff.

What you are talking about is a kind of AI called Generative AI. Its purpose is to automate the creation of illustrations following a set of parameters. It's more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it.

One more thing. Games AI are (usually) programmed by hand. Someone sat on a computer and manually programmed all the conditions and outcomes that the AI follows.

Generative AI use a system that you feed it lots of data and the AI "programs" itself. The issue that many people have with Generative AI is that the data used to feed it usually belongs to other people.

Before LLMs hoarded the word and made it what it is today, "AI" in gaming was used to refer to automated behavior in general, in particular NPC actions and reactions. Party AI, enemy AI, that kind of stuff.
Pokemon had "AI", for instance, even in 1996 when it made the system that enemy trainers use when selecting a move against you - or when it made their fucking Elite 4 use their fucking Max Potion, making me waste yet another fucking turn.

AI is a very broad concept meaning , it doesn't mean AI art or the ai_cg tag here in F95.

AI is a very broad concept meaning Artificial Intelligence, ...
Not to forget that talk about "AI", when talking about "actual AI" it usually gets referred to as "true AI", something that is supposed to be able to Learn, think and act on it's own, without any specific data-feed from a specific "user", but rather by it's own means (camera, whatnot) even though it is supposed to be created by an intelligent being (hence artificial).

"True" and useful "AI" would just be too difficult to achieve without blowing up entirely - although in terms of closeness, the LLMs are a step further but still no "true" AI - to my understanding.

But yes, the term of AI has been used seemingly forever by now - specifically anything that has conditions to make a choice between actions, while getting the data for said conditions "on the fly". (Whether the actions are intelligent or not is a seperate matter) :HideThePain:

But why the hell is that the topic now anyway...

What is called Artificial "Intelligence" today is as far from the original means as it can be.
LLMs are databases that check it's entries for prompts and adds different words based on a priority matrix created by previously described learning method.
LLMs do not understand jack shit, they just evaluate prompts and create word strings based on highest fitting probabilities, which causes some of the most rediciolous results from time to time.

If you want to get an idea regardeing true AI you should watch Stark Trek.

I mean, IIRC true AI exists. Just not to the point of usability/usefulness - as the capacity is so limited - but essentially would fit the criteria for "true ai", just not really usable. (Which is also why they have considered/tried growing biological cells (some kinda net-weaving cells, not sure how to call in english) on circuits and have them "learn" - although difficult to maintain (not really sure if you can call that artificial intelligence or not, as it is essentially biological and getting stimulations through a circuit...?)) But anyway, there's been a lot of research, there will be a lot of research and we're still not at the real meaning of AI - so any discussion of "limiting what we call AI" should wait until (likely never in our lifetimes) humanity achieves true AI (Which I kinda doubt humanity will ever achieve, atleast in a scale that it's actually capable of something more than number crunching :HideThePain: )

I mean the whole Problem with AI is that in it's current form it's heavily dependant on human learning and contradiciional information as our race is sadly the biggest Enigma in our world duo to our contradictional behavior and value matrix.
But basically what we currently call AI is Artificial dumbness as it can't understand anything it learned and just recites previous inputs based on highest probability.
And sadly humans have proven to rather follow a deadend lead instead of correcting their falsy initiate assumption to actually progress research... makeing me think that the whole Artificial Intelligence stuff will create some library sorteing engine and than die rather than become the AIs from Star Trek... bt yeah hope dies last... to bad mine already did.

So you have to trigger the manxyona event first right to make it possible?
From what I've tested: Yes.
Before triggering the event, even with the pregnancy potion, after half an hour getting fucked by all kind of males, she didn't get pregnant.
After the event (If you do the love option, they can fuck up to three times in the event, not sure if hard coded but doing so always got my Yona pregnant.) even normal native can impregnate her.
So my guess is that the event unlocks it. Maybe to prevent you from creating an MC-alike army.

Thanks, that helps. is anyone aware of a way to change the “simulation distance” through tweaks?
...
Made a small bepinex plugin, haven't had a lot of time to test yet - anyone tried it let me know (especially on newer version(s))
It will add a new command /loadChunk <num> as well as /unloadChunk <num>
Essentially, it will start loading the chunk as well as prevent unloading (until unloadChunk command is done)
-- IT IS NOT SAVED! So after a restart, you'll have to type them again.
I assume you want(ed) it so certain locations continue producing while far/further away - I hope it works well and helps.
(Written for BepInEx 5.4.23.4 - short test on game version 0.4.5.6 beta)
If it works as intended, I might update it a bit for easier usage - or someone else will if they like/want it.
(Number for the command from /mapID)
Just extract into game folder after setting up BepInEx, or manually extract the plugin from the zip (the ChunkLoader.dll) into BepInEx/plugins/

I think it's more that the game just isn't built to have Yona pregnant in cutscenes as few as there is.
