I know, thank you! :D
But I was more curious if there’s a tool made specifically for this game, since CE requires a lot of manual searching and it’s not always straightforward.

When creating a character, since the values keep changing, it’s easy to search and modify the attributes.

But once the character is created, it’s not that simple—you usually have to wait until resting at an inn to level up.
It’s also different from other games that pack character attributes together as a byte array.

Alignment is even more troublesome, and it doesn’t even seem to be related to numbers. :(

I'm a big fan of Leane 2 and have been anticipating this game for a very long time. I am immensely grateful for this community, too many shoutouts to do here at this point but CobraPL for his constant contributions and Xebit for the translation, making it possible for me to play this as I have zero Japanese language knowledge.

What I did not like about Leane 2 which seems to be a thing in this game as well is that the MC has a disappointingly limited potential for H - now don't get me wrong, I am fully aware this is an NTR focused game so this is on par for the course, but if anyone is asking for my opinions, a lot of CobraPL's insights in the original post in this thread is particularly compelling.

I've read a lot of the suggestions in this thread and they're all great ideas, I only want 2 things personally.

1. I would love for the MC to have more H content, ideally implemented by the dev but honestly I'll settle for a mod that just increases H stats for female heroines but done by the MC. From what I've read, there is some of this content once the MC marries. If marriage is a hard requirement for that then like CobraPL said, it should ideally happen sooner. I'm not at that point in the game yet so I have no idea what the extent of it is but judging by feedback I've been reading, it seems to be particularly underwhelming. Even just something as simple as what they did in Leane 2 where once you romanced a heroine, the MC talking to her would result in semen count increasing, was at least something, although afaik the MC was unable to make the heroines pregnant (only in endings), this leads me to my second whim:

2. More pregnancy content, particularly the ability for MC to make the female NPCs pregnant. Since there is pregnancy content in the game, even if it's limited, I am hoping that this is not impossible to do via mods. Again going back to what CobraPL said, leveling the playing field between MC and other male NPCs on terms of what they can respectively do to the female NPCs would improve this game immensely.

I don't think anything i've said here is new but thought I'd still echo some of your opinions here in my own way. Again, super grateful for this community for all the work that's been done and for making it possible for me to play this game. I really hope people with greatest knowledge and abilities than myself will be able to make some improvement

Alright... is it possible for a complete beginner to make a mod for this game beyond editing values?
What should I learn to at least know my way around?
From my experience:

Software needed:
1. GARbro, you will need it to extract and compress the .xp3 files. Download the release version on the right.

2. All the files (excluding images) can be opened by notepad. I suggest using Notepad++ since it allows multiple files to be open as tabs. Even when you close the software, the tabs will remain there.

3. Not needed: The actual game engine, KirikiriZ. The UI and documentation is in Japanese T_T

Tips:
a. Always use the translated ENG files as your base since you need to avoid bringing old bugs and conflicts with other mods.
b. 50% of the time at the start is you figuring out how the codes work and which files to edit :p
c. Since some of the coding is in japanese, I made an all-english file (toss it to Google translate) and use it as a guide.
d. The error control for the game engine sux. Code bit by bit, compress and test the code to see what error shows up. Lucky for us, the compressing took 1 sec. Errors from first.ks will be the usual one you see first. EDIT: You can check more of the error in detail by using the krkr.console.log file in the savedata folder.
e. Please pick a unique patch number. Not patch2 or patch3.

Good luck :)

I'll try to summarize my thoughts.

There's a lot of potential with his engine and I wish he continues to dabble with it in the upcoming years to refine this game. Here's some improvements that would be great for the game imo.

----------------

Story mode is fine. I don't mind if the general parts of the story doesn't change. Even the unavoidable NTR event. Instead, make use of the new game plus to rewrite a new story (avoidable NTR) that adds onto the game. Just make it easy for new players to access it without playing the main story.

Start the game with a vague question like.. "Do you remember what happen..?"
  • If you answer no, it just skips to the point where you're about to leave Bravetown. (QoL for people who keep restarting)
  • If you answer yes, have it where MC vaguely remembers that he traveled back to the past after activating his powers against murmur during the first fight when he falls into the pit with Max.

With it, plot points will drastically change.. MC would get precognition on when bad events might happen so you can choose to avoid them or not. Your MC will become more active in romance now and will be willing to engage with multiple girls if you choose to. This can open the door to targeting girls on Blue's side. The ending we came from in the original game could be subtly hinted at, based on your actions during gameplay.

Since we defeated Blue early to dodge the NTR event, a new antagonist will emerge to fill up the space for a threat. Later events might reveal that MC isn’t the only one who’s been transported to this timeline. Azure will appear here from a different timeline to cause havoc. I'll have to replay the story post Blue fight to understand it better now that the translation is complete to really hash my thoughts past this point.

We need at least one unique NPC for each race a playable character in the story too. Hopefully that's in the pipeline. Maria is the easiest add-on.

----------------

Free Mode should be rehauled into a sort of gauntlet/mini roguelike mode. It can be it's own contained mini story too. The Demon Lord has been slain, but its destruction came at a cost. The guild alliance has been fractured and many guild members have perished. The surviving members started creating their own guilds to rebuild. You start out with a static guild member crew with the basic classes but a randomized unique female npc every new game.

Bravetown will become the hub of the game and will be expanded. Shops will refill with randomized items after every quest and there will be a new seemingly endless new dungeon that will appear here. It will be the main story quest for the mode with 100 levels.

We can have side quests for our members through the guild that will allow us to meet and recruit new npcs to add to our party. The side quests can range from delivering messages to other towns, guard caravans, rescue civilians, defeat bandits, etc. We cannot create any new members with customization, but all female NPCs are recruitable. The author can easily pull a bunch of unique sprites from his old games and use them in this mode as unique NPC characters. He can just do generic H events for them or reuse a bit of their old ones.

Certain Male NPCs like Max will appear in this mode as temporary allies during quests if you meet them. Depending on their disposition, they may target your guild members. We can add more hotel mechanics in this mode. Use two floors for the hotel stay, but add more male npcs in the lodging to heighten the danger.

Guild/Team battles are more pronounced in this game and opposing guilds are more aggressive. They will always have a unique male NPC (they can even reuse old characters here) as the leader and at least one unique female NPC in the party that you can recruit if you win.

As the story progresses, we can slowly hint that this world is the one Azure (for the new game plus idea i had) belonged to before he made it into yours.

----------------

For minor QoL, it would be great if more equipment was usable across all classes. To balance this, characters will receive a debuff like if a mage decides to wield a greatsword or something to save storage space. (Please make consumables stack)

To make reclassing more viable, there should be more special powers added to let us reclass into more varied classes. The only one that's good (aside from saving stats) right now is Druid into Monk for Spells.

For customization, introducing an item like hair dye or hair comb would give us more hair customization. All it does is change your hair color or style for your regular sprite. For Event scenes, it will just use their natural color/style.

I agree with most points made about alignment affecting H scenes. Would be nice if it did more like maybe passively influencing your allies into your alignment too.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
In order to make a mod, I just need to find the files containing the lines I need to change. For example, to change a weapon's name, image, damage, weight, etc. I just need to edit item.tsv .
After editing that file, I just need to turn it into patchNUMBER.xp3 (except patch or patch2).

The game will use the edited file in place of the original file (over the ones in data.xp3, or patch.xp3, or patch2.xp3).

That is the simplest example, and I have already tested that it did change the value. Not just in the item status, but also in battle.

For more complex modding, I would have to follow the chain and make sure there's no conflict.

Now, I have several questions.
Is there any way to set the window size?
Also, why can't the patch2.xp from Xebit be extracted? I assume the translation is in there. Initially, I thought it was somewhere else, so I just edited the item.tsv from patch.xp3. However, the items' names and descriptions became untranslated. So, I used the one from CCmod.

P.S. It's the same error I got when I made a patch in the folder containing the edited files. The only method that wouldn't result in that error was having the edited files in and outside the folder. Select the folder containing the edited files, then create an archive.

Use to unpack, use kikiriki.exe -c -i infolder -o out.xp3 to repack

config.tjs line 51 might be the one? try that

Its the same with me. I too used ccmod's eng files. Too lazy to find a different extractor :p

1. make a folder and toss all the files you edited in it;
2. Ctrl-A to select all;
3. right click or F3 ( shortcut) to create archive.

That would cause a conflict with first.ks file, but that's only because of the resolution of the image files, so fixable but... it seems to be hardcoded in various files for various things placement. I managed to make it fit my screen when I changed my screen resolution, but when I ran the game again, it continued to go outside the screen in window mode. There's no problem with full screen.

I now use what CobraPL shared for unpacking and repacking. It's much more convenient.

Thoughts about game improvements:
First, I little background under a TL;DR spoiler tag:

The game needs more sex:

Lastly, can we talk about alignment? This is the real reason for my post.

Alignment is a worthless gimmick. The MC (in story mode) is neutral at his worst--and that's a bit of a stretch. Really, he's good alignment or nicer in all his dialogue. I mean, he falls for the goody-two-shoes, lovey-dovey, good-aligned mage girl (and not in a corruption/exploitation kind of way). Also, every 'bad guy' who did evil things is welcomed into the party to give them a second chance. Miredy? If I saw her sitting in the pub, I'd put a sword in her belly for helping rape my GF. Not the MC. He forgives her and blames Blue... Same goes for Linus.... An evil MC would murder everyone who stood against him after he defeated them. Our MC would never do something like that.

And what does alignment even do? You can only hire people close to your own alignment? Who cares? You can just make another generic character with the right alignment. Seemingly the only thing it affects is the class system, and it's seriously borked there.

No evil lords but you can have an evil druid? No good druids? No good sorcerers and no bad spellblades? (it should be pointed out that Blue's class is spellblade, and he's definitely evil) It's impossible to have a Holy character learn all three types of magic, but an Evil character can. There's no way for a Holy character to learn alchemy. Why? Is alchemy heretical? That's fine, but then why can Evil characters still learn holy magic? No good thieves or sorcerers?

I could make a case for just about any class/alignment combination, so a great way to make an easy, positive change to the game would be to remove the alignment locks on classes. That would help make sense of the randomness in the class-alignment combinations for the auto-generated NPCs. Let people roleplay whatever they want since alignment seems to have basically no other impact on the game in any way.

In light of this, if someone can give me a quick tutorial, I'm happy to extract the files and make a mod patch so that any alignment can be any class...

I can do the unlocking all alignment but it will cost something in the process
Alchemist was once called devil act in history by the Church. It is lore accurate

I appreciate that it's accurate to the lore, but they have Evil Bishops and Good Alchemists in the game already, so I still don't understand the decision for how they locked certain classes out of certain alignments. And then the pre-gen NPCs in the various guilds are randomized and don't follow class/alignment rules. Had an evil valkyrie once.... It just feels...arbitrary....

Full transparency, I'm just trying to live my dream of having a Lord (paladin) who can use all three types of magic. And I'm not huge on the 'holy' alignment, so I'd prefer to be good or neutral. I don't like kicking children and taking candy from old ladies, so I don't really see playing as bad or evil. Plus, the MC's dialogue would be immersion breaking if I chose a darker alignment....

Did it.

Mods, how do you want me to adjust my previous posts? Delete the old ones? Consolidate them somehow?

Here is a screenie of character creation with all job classes showing (except bard and valkyrie; I left them gender locked).
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Attached is my patch file. The only thing in it is the job.csv file, which I didn't see in the ccmod files or anywhere else. I haven't played through the game to see if doing this causes other problems down the line, so use at your own risk. I'll update after I play around a bit, but now you can have a Holy Assassin or Evil Monk....

Edited 399 images. Covers elf, dwarf, human, gnome, sylph and Riselle.

Changes:
Now as a patch instead of chara.xp3 replacer. Much smaller file size (28 MB instead of 300) and more importantly: much more likely to stay compatible with future versions. Just put into game directory. Enjoy!

Should you already have a file named 'patch14.xp3' in your game folder, just change the '14' to some other number.

Would it be possible to use the CGs you have created for a mod we are currently developing?
