I'm upgrading from version 44.3, which is the only one that has worked for me. I'm not using any other mods, and I'm running the JP version.

Funny that.....cause I see files that is from CCMOD. You need to get a FRESH copy and copy the files for Free Ero into that.

where do I get the jp version?

What's the best MTL option if I wanted to play the JP mods, though? I hope someone translated the mods someday, but it seems unlikely.

This is probably the only game so far where I'll recommend not using mtool.
It works well for dialog but it causes a bug where profile pictures don't show, will eventually cause a script error crashing the game so you have to save often (which you should be doing anyway), and works terribly on the status menu (I don't even know how it screws it up that much).

You are trying to open the game from inside the zip file. That will not work. Unzip it and retry.
Also use game64 and maybe locale emulator if there are problems with the japanese symbols. For some games you even need specific unicode settings to unzip but as far as I remember, this was not one of these games.

Any tip to change to Japanese locale in 2026?
