Dev just officially confirmed on Patreon it is cancelled, but the character will live on in a project by new devs. Very depressing, but not surprised.

While the game won't see its completion under MoDA Softworks, we're excited to inform you that the beloved characters from "Master of Dark Arts" will live on in a new story-driven PC game. This upcoming project will be undertaken by C.S.M.G. Softworks.
