I've been experiencing this bug as well. I don't think it has anything to do with the boombox, as I haven't even bought that yet.
The cursor is still visible, as is the "continue" box, but the continue box does not respond when clicked. It also appears to happen randomly; there will be times when I can click on the box and the scene progresses as normal, but other times when the box is unresponsive. It tends to happen most frequently when the "What the hell?" dialogue is displayed. Idk if that will help any.

I have fixed that annoying bug with the softlock. And I was also able to successfully kill that bug with the boombox.
