Version 0.8.1.1 A3 Tier 3+ ($10) has been released!
In addition to Amelia's completed quest, The Space Marine (found in Hamah Bay) and a load of other smaller addons, this release also includes one big surprise.
Just because you're such an awesome community, I took an extra week off my work and coded what every open-world RPG should have:
a crafting system!
Crafting in MoR is a relatively advanced feature that'll fundamentally change the economy and how you can adapt your playstyle. You're now able to craft your own ammo, stimpacks, doctor's kits and weapons (armors will be added shortly).
There's an extensive in-game tutorial on crafting, but here are the basics.
New skill: Blacksmithing
Blacksmithing involves weapons and armor crafting. It's also used for crafting various hardware and other advanced crafting materials.
New skill: Artisan
Artisan often acts as a support skill to advanced crafting projects like rifles and machine guns. It's also vital when you craft jewelry, clothes and basic (H. leather or lower) armor.
Medical crafting
Medical crafting depends on the Medicine and Science skills. Crafting stimpacks is not something you do outside a tent in a water-infested grove in Marston Swamps. You'll need nanites and relatively sterile injectors. Building a Laboratory and a Nanite Tube at home is essential if you want to be completely independent from medical vendors.
Projects
You can have a total of three active crafting projects at the same time. A plasma rifle takes several days to finish, while a combat knife only demands a handful of hours. Keeping long-term projects going while spitting out stimpacks or crossbows just to pay your expenditures is therefore a viable survival strategy for a full-time crafter.
Non-project crafting
Simple crafting – which includes ammo and advanced crafting materials (like injectors) will never take up a project slot and can be done as long as you have enough stamina, enough skill and the required crafting modules.
Leveling Artisan and Blacksmith
The best way to level crafting skills is by using them. There's a certain percentage chance to increase either Artisan or Blacksmithing (depending on what object you're crafting) based on your current skill. It's relatively easy to level a low skill value, while it becomes increasingly difficult past 80.
Alpha aids and resources
