Sadly a story that doesn't know where it's goin is the definition of bad writting.
Every reader make a story his own. And when you drive your story to direction that have nothing to do with the story as it was before, you just spit on all the story your reader made for themselves.
And honestly, isn't it a tad too early anyway? Dick is litteraly telling a girl he knew for 3 day about his secret scheme? That makes for a very gullible character. And introducing such a ground breaking theme to the story without a single clue before hand... That make for gullible writting.
It just feel like it comes from nowhere and doesn't really belong in the world you've been building until now. I mean it was somewhat realist, but that theme is full on fictionnal. You introduce bigger than life characters. You make up an app that would be outright illegal in real life. And all that like it's nothing at all.
Let's put it this way: it's not that I don't know how the story will end—I have a general idea, a feeling, or emotion that I want to convey at the end of each story arc. But it's more of a direction rather than a precise understanding. This gives me room to maneuver along the way, taking into account what people say—whether they're interested in the story, whether they understand the characters, and so on.
During discussions, sometimes people suggest ideas that I find exciting, so I weave them into the plot. If I don’t like an idea, I ignore it. What I mean is, I'm not trying to please everyone; I'm creating a story that I personally enjoy. It moves in the direction that interests me. But I haven't mapped out every step in my head—I've tried to do that three times, but I keep changing it so often that I stopped. Instead, I just sketch out the main milestones I focus on.
As for Dick and his website, I'm not entirely sure what you mean. It's essentially like Tor Browser. As far as I know, using it isn't illegal in itself. There are illegal resources, sure, but there are also legal ones. To be honest, I initially had the idea of an underground society like in
John Wick, with coins of varying values and activities you could purchase with them. But the more I developed it, the more I realized that if I wanted to tell that kind of story, the universe would need to be a part of the narrative in every arc, not just one, otherwise, it would seem odd.
In our case, Dick has influential acquaintances because of his website. Similar sites exist in reality, so I don't see anything too far-fetched here. He doesn’t really have much to hide from Mila—he’s not giving her some big names or revealing any dark secrets. Essentially, I just wanted to create a virtual space where the girls could loosen up without fearing consequences. That's the function of the site and the community—a way to introduce anonymous characters for group events, without repercussions, so to speak. No "Red Sparrows" or revolutions here.
...why adding Mila's domme path, if she hasn't a single dominant bone in her body? It just doesn't make any sense. Should be choice between either full sub path and some neutral path.
But the art is great. Though I hope, for the future players, that author is going to revisit some art to make it more consistent. Especially those loli pictures at the beginning. You can't really add a 12 years old looking character and say "she's 30, everything is good, move on". But most importantly inconsistencies just hurts the game in general.
I’m not quite sure what dominant behavior without emotions is, to be honest. Wouldn't that just be aggression in such a case? The whole idea of dom-sub dynamics is about the transfer of control. The dominant can take only as much control as the sub can and wants to give. It’s a very delicate balance of power. There’s a saying in Russian, I’m not sure of the exact English equivalent, but it’s something like: "If you know how to obey, you know how to command."
If you take away from BDSM the silly options like hypnosis or blackmail, what remains are pure emotions. And if the dom pushes a little harder, the sub will just say the safe word. Or they’ll stop "playing." So, who really controls the situation then? This is exactly what I wanted to explore in the game, from different perspectives. Because without emotions, in my view, it all loses its meaning.
As for the art, yeah, my eyes bleed too when I replay certain scenes. So, I'll either start polishing and fixing the art after finishing all the story branches, or I'll reach a breaking point and take a break just to fix everything that bothers me.
Thanks!
