I would really appreciate an option to switch to them as the main images. Based on the survey results (as of the time of this post) I think others would like that option as well.

I hear you on that, Tokenugget. In the end, I think it will be a combination of 'concept renders or sketches' to send AI in the right direction and then AI nailing the render you want to have. At the same time, I do feel for the people who spend night after night in 3D programs creating these wonderful fantasies for us. It gets really hard when the AI can just cook up whatever you can imagine.
