In my opinion, your discussion here is wrong for 2 reasons:
1) as you said, "piracy always will exist", but you mustn't think that if you could stop piracy you could have more members for your website, because fast or not fast piracy post your works, the members will be the same anyway;
2) Just for respect for your members, you needn't speak about closing your site or stopping your works, because of piracy; you need to accept piracy and maybe studying any solution with a compromise (for example: piracy could post your works free only after one month since you published and concerning only works for that month, so that you could continue to publish your new works while piracy could post your old work for the previous month).
First I would hope with this statement you are a member or if not a member, then I hope you are not one of the ones who instead of supporting artists that you lurk around waiting to download things for free.
I'm sure the point of people creating work as such is for 1. People to enjoy & 2. If it is something that people will pay for why not make a profit?
The proof is in the thread as the work is already over the internet and people stick around daily in hopes of something new gets posted. So if you love an artist's work that much to go to such lengths to get it... My point would be why not support the work instead of waiting to download it for free (if you can afford it) ? Especially when it is $10.
Some have expressed they cannot afford it but I'm sure 90% of the people who come in here to download the comics for free can afford 10 bucks a month no problem. And that's just one side of the argument as sharing is the ultimate problem. I can't speak for moiarte3d, but if it were my work I would rather people not read it at all than enjoy it for free.
So let me get this correct... We all know pirating exist but that doesn't mean you have to accept it. Please ask yourselves if everyone just sat around and waited for things to get posted for free then what would be the point of an artist creating the work if it doesn't benefit them? Put yourself in some of these artist shoes... You spend hours of your day creating and perfecting your work... Time out of your life only for people think it's fair for you to share the work for free.
Regardless of whether you agree, at the end of the day it is a business, you can't go to a clothing store and say to the owners "stealing is what people do so you have to accept it" you can't go to a restaurant eat and walk out and when they stop you " stealing is what people do so I don't have to pay for the meal"... Or go to watch the new avengers movies and when they ask you to pay to enter "piracy is a thing so you just have to accept it"
That logic is flawed so yes ultimately sharing will happen but you can't tell that man he should just accept it and post the comics for free after a certain amount of time has passed. So you are telling me if it were you who were creating the content and people were sharing your work (sometimes not even a whole day hasn't gone by) and after you spent so many hours working on the work... Only to realize people will download for free no problem but refuse to support the product even though you made it affordable for the majority. I think that says more about the people who just want things for free moreso than the artist. Again some of you guys are delusional.
