How do you light up your character guys when I do these either my character wash out or body highlight are not show . Any tip for noob.
I've already been asked this question in private.

This is the most complicated step for me, and I spend a lot of time testing which hdri I'm going to use, a spotlight or a mesh light or ghost light.
Here's the answer I gave this person on the approach I used for one of my previous renders

1- I use an HDRI for global lighting (the base)
2- I use a cuteway camera (sometimes combined with a scene cuteway plane) to bring in more light from the hdri (interior). this also speeds up rendering.
3- then I place either a light rig (from paper tiger) or ghostlights to bring out the details (often 2 or 3 lights).
4- I add a distantlight if I want to reproduce the shading produced by the sun's rays (for example, to shade tree branches, plants, window blind, etc.)
5- setting the tonemap
6- I use matte fog to give more atmosphere
7- I set the dual lobe on the characters for wet or dry skin

Here's how I lit my last scene (effect of each light separately)
