Steam and Patreon are tightening their restrictions so the devs decided to make the changes now instead of risking getting blocked outright.

yeah, and if they are smart enough, they should just remove all that "adult" part from (A)VNs (as that will be banned soon enough there) and go with simple kid/family stuff such as mass murdering, people butchering, drug trafficking, stealing and all other fun activities for players.
