Author should wrap this up, this game wont be over until maybe 2035. Guess he just wants to milk that sweet Patreon money, he doesn't even write most of the scenes anyway lol.
You are correct that its likely about milking the game for money at this point by drip feeding content. The rate at which content comes out is a joke, not just in general but also compared to how fast it used to come out, gotta be intentional at this point especially since, like you said, most of what actually does get in is not even done by the developer himself. I don't really agree that the game should be wrapped up though, clearly there is a lot of potential there, and while the world building is bare bones the characters that are there are interesting, at least compared to most other games of the genre.

My hope is that the community will produce some good mods instead of relying on a scene or two per month being added. From what I have seen it is not all that hard to mod the game, yet there are very few decent mods out there. Something like the Beris mod that gives more interactions could, if more of these were to be done by people who are interested in more content for certain characters, make the game feel a lot more in depth than it actually is.

If it was written in my native language I probably would have long since made a mod or two for it, but me writing stuff tends to sound hella unnatural. I have seen some decent results using AI for story writing, perhaps soon these programs will be advanced enough to help with that.

The developer is paying people for art. They do their own writing, pass it off to a team of editors, and then when everything is put together, they give it to a team of testers who stress test the game for bugs and such that might cause problems for the consumer. Now, I'm no defender of devs who clearly want to milk their audience and reject all forms of criticism (Zion of Olympus being the most prominent), but Threshold does update their patrons frequently and does warn us ahead of time of any potential delays or issues that prolong the process.

Like, I'm not even going to point out that game development on its own is not a short process. Even someone capable of rigging and animations on their own is going to take a few years to finish their project, and that's assuming it's a simple game with a bare-bones story and maybe a handful of h-scenes. There is a process and while I would like to jump on the wagon of blindly accusing devs of laziness or exploiting their patrons, such is not the case here. That said, I also get why someone might lob the accusation at Threshold given they did go through a period where they focused more on a side content waifu than furthering the main story. I got no excuse for that, nor do they. Heck, they even made a couple patron posts where they confessed that they got stupidly side-tracked and apologized for it.

So, yeah, Threshold does get side-tracked and/or life happens, but it's not as if they're delaying the process to milk their patrons for money.
Completely missed my point, aren't you? I don't care much about how frequent the updates are. I think the person I replied before also think the same. I mainly rambling about how often this kind type of game stuck in the state of eternal updates with no real closure. Look at TiTS, CoC 2, LT, and now this. Sure the process takes a time but it's been 6 years, my dude. Author should really think about their vision ahead, was the project too ambitious? Or they just simply lacked of manpower? No matter what answer is, it leads to the same conclusion, it simply needs to end because it's been too long. Any good story needs a proper ending. Any good journey needs a proper closure. This story seems has no such thing or any indication that leads there. And that's what I care about.

I didn't even accuse him of milking Patreon money, btw. It's your own assumption and now after thinking it for a while, it's also author's fault because what and how he did to this project made it look like author was milking the patreon money.

I've been thinking and...

What kind of place is the Temple anyway?

Like when I think of a Temple, I think of a place of worship.
The Forest Dungeon makes sense contextually. It's Sophia's dungeon, and a place where the Demon Queen hid the sigil of allure.
The forest makes sense as it leads up to the forest dungeon.
The mountain and caves make sense contextually as well.

The Temple though... kind of doesn't? None of the girls in the Temple seem to have any connection with spirituality.

I can't even visually imagine it if that makes any sense, since the red and blue corridors are probably placeholders.
you are thinking too much in western terms

it's more of a shinto temple
place of meditation and training and stuff like that
body/mind
ying/yang
blue red
(blue red mostly because the 2 oni sisters are blue and red)
I mean shaolin monks train in temples, here you have the nija girls instead

Disagree. Why?

Not everything is about an overarching story. If something is just about wandering around, having adventures, why is it necessary to bring it to a close as long as people are still enjoying it? What's the point? So the dev can start another game from scratch, in which we'll probably wander around having random adventures?

Nah. If this was a game with a dramatic storyline that called for a conclusion, then sure, but this isn't that game.

just gonna chime in and say i like the side content and numerous people to talk to, different routes to try with different outcomes. it feels alive and theres a ton of content. no ending? like gta v online? big budget companiess dont end their stories either. genshin impact is said to have a 10+ year story planned, thats an asian studio. Your claims that it's a western problem are unfounded. what about people like me who enjoys this and hopes it continues on for awhile? the writings good, the world building is great, and i love the side content. Am I enjoying things wrong? Am i defective? Are you just a superior person for wanting endings? what about your life? your family? your job? they should end too for a narratively satisfying conclusion.

They aren't stories sure, but your complaints that a story is awful because it doesnt end is a terrible take. Berzerk didnt end since the author died, so just scrap the whole story huh. Great take buddy, it's free, you didn't spend money on it, go play something else and stop bitching.

With how much Thresh has struggled in the past few years I have no idea how he intends to tackle the capital.
The 5 characters that live in the main town barely have any content 6+ years into development, I don't know how he plans to make enough content for an entire city.

The difference between TiTS and CoC2 and this game is that unlike this game, those two have entire teams behind them who are clearly at odds with their supporters, at best. The fact that Savin is lead on both and Fenoxo has largely removed himself from both projects can be disregarded because, at the end of the day, the people working on those games are clearly using both as a vehicle for their own fetishes and will punch down at anyone who disagrees with their vision.

My dude it took Larian Studios six years to develop Baulder's Gate 3, and they have a full-sized studio complete with a full staff. Threshold is one guy paying artists and editors to help him make a good game. You have to take into consideration that outside of patreon, Threshold is probably working full-time to support himself and sustain the development of his game. Oh, and if your entitled ass didn't notice WE'RE IN A GLOBAL RECESSION. Now, sure, we weren't in a recession pre-2021. But, there was also that global pandemic that kind of screwed a lot of stuff up. Oh, and Threshold had to move and didn't want to risk anyone seeing the stuff they were doing in his private time, likely because of cultural reasons in their country. So, again, it's kind of hard not to empathize with the "long cycle" if we're not acting like entitled children demanding an extra cookie.

As for an ending, the story is maybe halfway finished, at best. Remember, there are at least five(?) bosses before the demon queen. I would give it maybe another 2-3 years before we see anything resembling a conclusion to the main story. If that is too long for you, I might advise getting a hobby, making friends, getting a job, etc. You know, stuff the rest of us do to pass the time and give our lives meaning rather than bitching incessantly online about how a single guy in a one-room apartment isn't making porn games for us fast enough.

I didn't even accuse him of milking Patreon money, btw. It's your own assumption and now after thinking it for a while, it's also author's fault because what and how he did to this project made it look like author was milking the patreon money.
The other guy did lob the accusation, if you had any reading comprehension. For someone who accuses others of "missing the point" you sure as heck failed to acquire context before replying. Or, much of anything else.

What are you talking about? You mean the priestess and guild lady? Cause the mage and hotel owner have tons of additional content (albeit, the mage has more content associated with a side quest and the character involved in that). Granted, the rogue isn't really fleshed-out, but I see that more as a result of her being standoff-ish and business-focused rather than conversational. I also don't know how you would develop those characters more since at least 4/5 are supporting your success (or, at the very least, your willingness to sustain their individual financial/spiritual interests), and only one seems to function to your detriment with less subtlety than a brick to the skull.

I don't know why people are looking this deep into a game that's just playable smut. Just get your rocks off and move on man lmao
This is like... the dumbest thing I've ever read.
"Why are y'all engaging with the work that you just played? Why not just fap and ignore everything else?"

Like bro, dev spent literally thousands of hours of his life making this thing. I'd think he'd be happy to see people thinking about and engaging with the thing he made.
