I hadn't paid much attention to this game previously but after spending a rather long time playing through it, I was surprised by the sheer amount of content. There are so many characters to interact with and the sex scenes are very well written. Every time I play, I seem to find a new piece of content that I didn't know was there and it keeps me hooked. My only complaint is the romances can feel a bit grindy, given there's no easy way for the player to tell whether they're doing progress until a new dialog option happens to shows up.
Regardless, I look forward to more of this game! Good games that let you both dom or sub with monster girls instead of the same old "monster rapes u when u lose and that's all u get" are a precious few.
Yes, there is a fairly simple way as long as you play on a platform where you can enable and use the console. Just open the console and use player.name = "X" and replace the X with whatever you want your name to be. Just note that the quotation marks must remain as this is a string.
If you do not know how to enable the console, there is now a detailed page on using the console in MGD, including how to enable it as well as various codes and examples you can use to alter your character, on the wiki that you can find

. I believe I have covered virtually every use case for the console with regards to MGD as things currently stand, so it should be quite a useful resource.

In the wiki, under inventory alteration you write:
player.inventory.give("Good Luck Charm", 1) will remove 3 Calming Potions from your inventory. This code will likely not need to be used unless an error has caused something like a key item duplication.
player.inventory.give("Calming Potion", 1) will add 1 Good Luck Charm to your inventory. This is useful in the event a bug causes your key items to disappear, but it can also be used to give more copies of consumables or equipment.
I presume you meant some kind of remove command and mixed up the strings and amounts?
Wondering if someone might help me. I have trouble using my old save files. I haven't played for a while because I've been crazy busy, but wanted to dig this out again. I have a lot of progress, and I can load and update old saves to version 21.8a (and I can update the save in the options menu, and everything works). But when I try to update the game to a newer version (I have tried from v.22c all the way through the most recent 22.3b, I get an error message. The funny thing is that after this error message, I get another exception, and suddenly I am asked to type my name and the game starts a new game. It doesn't load the save at all.
Here's the first error message when loading the save file in v22.3b (that was updated in v21.8c):
Now, on the second attempt, it ignores loading and skips directly to the intro screen. Can anyone help? I would hate to lose many hours of building a character... Thanks!

When you load the save in 21.8a, do you leave town, return and overwrite the save? We've had a few massive updates where doing so updated variables that otherwise caused crashes. If that does not help, you might want to consider leveling a new character with the console.

Thank you for your suggestion. I tried this now, by downgrading to 21.8a, leaving town, returning, saving and reloading that save in v22.3c. The outcome is the same.
Any other suggestions, or is my progress completely lost?

Do you use any mods? If so, try removing them (just cut them out of the mod folder and place them somewhere else) and see if the game runs without them. If that works you have to download the latest versions of the mods.

Thanks again. I found v22c (from March 3rd, ie. before v22.1) in my trashcan, so I loaded this (after saving in v21.8). This also resulted in an error (copied below).
Would it be possible to get the download links for v22 or v22a? I am trying to rescue my save files (see above - they work on v21.8a, not on later releases). Thank you very much!
Since it sounds like V23 is going to be a balance update, I might as well offer some of my personal insights and thoughts.
I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but Willpower is more or less the single most important stat. Not only is it used in the ever present stat checks *COUGH* Sofia *COUGH* but is also gives access to magic, which is also OP, but I'll get that later.
Technique seems fairly useful, since it has good coverage among skills, gives initiative, and also shows up in a lot of stat checks *COUGH* Sofia *COUGH*
Luck is...whatever...probably will see usage at the Casino. I never tried a Power build, but even that seems more useful than Allure, which seems like a glass cannon that can't deal with stat checks.
Onto skills, namely Magic. Setting aside skills such as Cleanse Lust and Meditation, which are bread and butter that everyone probably needs anyway, Magic skills also include buffs, Teleport—which immediately breaks out of all stances and binds at once—and Arousara—which hits multiple targets. These are incredibly important, since multi-foe encounters tend to be difficult and easy to lose if you let your guard down.
I wouldn't suggest nerfing Magic/Willpower, as much as making other builds viable. Maybe a multi-target skill that draws on Power or Allure would help.
This is just my take, having run a Will-Tech build and finding it extremely capable in almost every fight by level 45. Power checks were the only real issue, and Allure never became a problem at all. Luck is take-it-or-leave it for getting money.
I have some additional thoughts regarding Sensitivities/Fetishes, and a few nit-picks for AI like how you can cheese poor Ancilla by making out with her but I'll leave it at this for now.

Yeah I have a list of issues I want to address in that update, willpower is one of them.
Tech less so, I think the other stats just nee to be brought up a bit, like power, which is, atm, hot garbage.
Allure is meant to be a damage stat
and luck is intended to be utilty, not something you build around on its own.
Ancilla is the first real bossfight, so I don't really mind there being was to cheese her.
If I may post a suggestion, I remember playing Touhou Labyrinth 2 and on a hard mode it had a level cap to challenge bosses. Of course, it also had a way to easily downlevel your characters while retaining the experience so you could level them again after the fight.
Could you see yourself adding a challenge mode to areas exploration where your level would be reduced to X until return?

Thanks for letting me know, wasn't able to really respond earlier but I corrected this the day you reported it. The code for giving items can be used to both give and remove items, just need to use a negative number like -3 in the case of that Calming Potions example.
So thank you again for passing this along, ccccccccccc.
Power is absolutely terrible right now. Allure may have no real defenses and only a handful of event checks, but it can put out several thousand points of damage, which used to be hundreds of thousand points of damage before a nerf, when built correctly and with a little setup. It can also potentially defeat enemies through recoil damage, causing them to break themselves upon you instead. I'll put a few images in the following spoiler to show the pre-nerf and post-nerf Allure damage. Do note that this character only had 60 Allure and was not fully maxed out nor optimized.
Just wanted to share this in order to provide a little more insight into the title and the current mechanics. But thank you very much for the feedback and you are correct in that Willpower and Technique are the two unquestionably best stats and that Will-Tech is the currently strongest build.
Would it be possible to get the download links for v22 or v22a? I am trying to rescue my save files (see above - they work on v21.8a, not on later releases). Thank you very much!
Hey, Sage, long time no see. I'm sorry to see that you are having difficulties retaining your save between versions. That error unfortunately is particularly thorny, so it is possible that it may be able to be recovered. I can't promise anything, but I could take a look at the save as well. If you load it up on a version where it still works, you could save it in Town as per usual for a save transfer to a new version and just place the save on Page 2 or Page 3. Then just attach it to a post replying to this one.
In the event that your save is irrecoverable, the wiki now has a more in-depth

on using the console that could be useful in recreating your old save. I still need to touch up the section about using the console to examine or alter progress with characters, but this could be a useful resource for a last resort.
Apologies that this is not more helpful and not necessarily what you were hoping for. But I do hope that you find this at least a little helpful, Sage Fjusk.
Good is rather subjective depending on one's taste, but I do find this title to be quite enjoyable personally. If you enjoy Monster Girl and M/F content, then this title may appeal to you. The writing is quite well done and is one of the strongest points of this title. Do be warned that the text is rather involved as one may surmise from the text-based roots of this title, so if you find lengthy paragraphs off-putting, this title may not be for you.
Many of the characters now have quality art assets for their appearance, although some still use their text-based description while they await the creation or implementation of their art. The erotic scenes themselves do not have actual CGs yet, but the art assets usually do change to reflect the scene in what ways they can, such as becoming nude, blushing, and having changing facial expressions. So if you do not mind the current lack of CGs, this title may appeal to you.
As for content, while this game is still in alpha, there is a great deal to enjoy already and enough that could last you for several hours or more depending on reading speed and how many characters you decide to pursue and romance. While we are not even at the half-way point in the story and the story locations, The Mystic Forest, the Forest Dungeon, the Mountain, the Temple of Will-Power, and The Caverns can be explored and conquered rather quickly. Each region is rather rich with various types of Monster Girls you can potentially romance and a number of characters that appeal to a variety of fetishes. If you are an aficionado of Monster Girls, there will be a number of commonly expected types such as a Catgirl, a Kitsune, Alraunes, a Drider, Succubi, Imps, a Manticore, a Hellhound, and even a few unique creations of the developer like the Voltlin and a certain Eldritch "Abomination" and atypical offerings such as a Bat Girl, Sheep Girl and Lava Girl. There are even a few humans in Town you can pursue if you don't fancy Monster Girls as much and take your role as an adventurer out to defeat the Demon Queen in a very literal and earnest fashion.
As for fetishes with regards to the lewd content, you'll find femdom, largely of a softer and nicer nature, equal, and even maledom content, should you prefer to be dominant rather than submissive. As for other fetishes, there are characters who are well-endowed and those with more modest assets, receiving relatively light BDSM enabled by one Arch-succubus in particular, giving out a little light BDSM enabled by two more characters, hypnosis, lactation, aphrodisiac fueled romps, black out drunk sex, student-teacher roleplay, giving or receiving petplay, kissing, head patting, various types of sex whether vaginal, anal, oral, titfuck, intercrural, or even tail-pussies for certain characters like a Manticore. There's even one character currently who will give a perineum massage while including sparks of arousing magic in their touch if that appeals to you. So there's a wide range of content that could potentially match up with a number of fetishes you may have and indulge in as well as content that could serve as an introduction to new fetishes you may find yourself enjoying.
I do hope that you find this find this informative and decide to try this title as I heartily recommend it, Stardust435.

It may be possible to emulate this process to a degree if such a function is not added. There is a character planned for the future that will offer Level Drain services. If they are able to return the Level, and thus the Experience, they take, then this could enable such Challenge Runs.
While this is not much, I do hope that you find this information serviceable, qwerqwer1Q.
Now for a little update news. For the upcoming mystery event, there has been a little development known and shared. Elly was decided upon as the quest giver, so we'll have something more involved and a true quest to introduce this new location and character as opposed to the Vivian fetch quest option. Elly's intro for this quest came in at roughly 900 words, the description for the new character is at roughly 400 words, the introduction to the new location is also roughly 400 words in length, the new location has a name, and finally the conversation topics have been planned out.
As usual, I'll provide more concrete details when I know more and I hope that everyone interested in this update news finds it at least a little useful.

Also, dang those are some big numbers for the Allure build. Guess I'm a bit biased towards old-school RPG stuff, so I never payed much attention to allure.
