I actually liked Kotone more before i've read her story. I liked the way she was this mischievous kitsune (i mean most kitsune in games are like this in some form or another) and she was always one of my favorite characters, but when i read her full story and played it myself.. damn that shit got depressive really fast..

Rape and murder? well that kinda ruined the character for me.. and killed my mood.. xD Sofia stole a lot of souls too, meaning she also killed people, but somehow i found her story less depressing

I gotta say i would like the game more if it would stay light hearted .. i mean having deep story and all is something i wish for, but for my own prefference i just don't like tragic backstorys for semi-nice characters that makes them appear evil
Heard about "Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy"? He was explaining to the player during the gameplay about how inflicting pain to the player makes the "treat" or a "prize" for finishing the game more satisfying. Kotone's situation is the same - her story makes player sad, her "treatment" makes him even more sad, but that makes the "First Lovey-Dovey Sex" scene just Adorable...

It's also a semi-typical visual novel cliche character type too. The one that seems completely unlikeable, but then you delve further into their story and find out more about them, and understand why they are the way they are.

I personally like that Kotone isn’t a good person tbh it makes her more interesting to me. In fact I’d like more girls who are like that. The Capital seems like a good chance to do that we’ll see.
I mean, you can only see so many upfront good, and sweet characters before you start to get a bit tired of them, seeing different personalities and traits is really cool when they deviate from the norm.

Developers then start to do that a bit too much too. Usually they have an assorted tray of selection for visual novels though.

To me, that scene was just a bit weird. I mean, she basically treated you like a piece of shit all the time, manipulated you, but then fell in love with you because you "proved your worth" or something. I mean sure, the scene is cute, but this transition just didn't work for me.

I like Kotone's seductive mastermind persona, I think it's pretty hot. Plus the MC probably knows what he's getting into.

I'm excited if we get to meet more ladies like that in the Capital.

I kind of excuse her on this one. In my opinion the challenge was just an excuse for her to boost her ego, and I can understand that since she has been hurt in the past and thus has trouble trusting people

Def more so just the insecurity issues with trust. When you get mentally broken like that, you go to desperate lengths to keep things close to you. Messed up, but somewhat understandable.

Yeah, the whole psycho slave thing definitely feels like a way to make sure nobody hurts her again. Sort of a coping mechanism that developed into a kink. Like they say, children engage in play to cope, adults engage in "play" (kinks) to cope.
Plus, I don't think she did anything worse than the average monster girl you encounter? Like, she even offered you the possibility to back out of the hypno thing at any time.
She feels less like an evil master mind and more like a person with severe trauma.

Her background makes it kinda rough (and it's way darker than anything else in the game) but it seems violence like that was just way more frequent? I mean, Feng and her just got attacked by a group of adventurers that killed Feng with no second thought so...yeah. But probably best not to get into that part too much. Don't wanna start a discussion about monster girl war morality.

Beris' CG seems to break and go back to a text description after the first scene and then stays that way forever. Sorry if necro, didn't find a fix in search.

Also, is there a sandbox mode or mod? I'd like to be able to fight any number of any enemies I want, without 1 shotting them due to my late game build.
