You listening Valentin? The people have spoken and all mods are cannon now! Make it so and my life yours!
Making all mods canon is definitely not going to be a thing, for reasons that have been gone over in a previous post.

But even if we're talking about just picking a select mod or two and implementing them into the game, it can lead to a lot of complications, like making sure that the mod fits MGD's setting, lore, and overall storytelling. And of course, there's also the issue of making sure said mod feels complete, and of how to add content to it: should that be the original author's doing? Or Threshold's? How to make it so that it fits the original mod's vision and voice without coming across as an oddity in the game?

Threshold has also expressed wanting to avoid a "gold rush" mentality where people would see this or that mod being implemented in the game, then pick up modding for the express purpose of their original content or character making it into the official game, which is definitely not a good mindset.

But overall, the feature creep is the biggest issue, as that kind of implementation can easily turn into a Whole Thing™ and end up taking a lot of time, effort, and stress for everyone involved.

Therefore, it should be taken as a given that mods will fundamentally remain fanmade endeavors. They will of course always have a place to be showcased on the wiki and on the Discord server (as long as their content isn't off-limits, obviously), but official implementation is not in the cards.

Can we please stop dickriding and pretending that there is some deep lore to this game or that any of it has any consistency? This is as barebones of a story as you will ever find anywhere, it is barely a story at all, there is no lore, stuff is made up as the developer goes, plenty of characters are abandoned waiting for more content, and you have primitive style fantasy setting for most of the early game, then technologically more advanced labyrinths with complicated mechanisms, and suddenly you stand in a freaking modern metropolis with electricity and modern technology.

Pretty much no matter what mod you put in there, it will not seem out of place or colliding with whats already there.

There is worldbuilding to the game, with a cohesive timeline, ideologies, mores, magic, and political organization. It's not a front-and-center part of the game (that's the lewds), but it's part of Lucidia's zeitgest, and it's distilled through the game's various dialogs and interactions that the player can have with characters.

If one is solely interested in the porn, that's fair, and getting invested in the game's story is by no means mandatory to enjoy it, but it's nowhere near as absent or as incoherent as you argue. The Capital and Labyrinth, for example, are not present in the game out of the blue, but as part of the setting's history, as several of the game's characters can explain, and the clash between classic fantasy and futurism is intended.

As for characters being abandoned... MGD is a big game, with plenty of characters, and with the game's development being mostly a two-man affair, there's no way all of them can get attention at the same time with each update. There is, however, a constant effort to give some spotlight to everyone, and even characters who have been around for a long time still get new content, such as Amber with the latest update, for example.

If that's not to your taste, that's entirely within your rights, but please don't make it sound like the whole game is written sloppily, without rhyme or reason.

Man you are dedicated to be a catamite for the developer I see. Yes, amazingly written story really. *Blank* goes to Lucidia. *Blank* gets chosen by the goddess even though he is a faceless nobody. Why did *Blank* get chosen? Cause *blank*. Why did *Blank* become a monster fucker instead of doing a normal job? Because *blank*. Even though *Blank* does not really know anything, and him normally having to deal with the massive debt first would make more sense in a kind of first big chapter arc as he gets to learn the ropes and finds sources of income while avoiding being fucked into jelly, that debt that by the way never gets to have any impact whatsoever despite being one of the very first features in this game all these years ago, *Blank* rather wants to ignore all that and just do the big cliche thing every hero wants to do in every monster girl game, beating the demon queen, terribly original. Well I guess it kinda is, because in these other games, even the cheap and shitty ones, the protagonist usually has SOME valid reason to want the demon queen dead. Why does he want to fight her even though he cannot kill her or knows anything about her? Cause *blank*. Who is the demon queen? Well *blank*. Why would anyone want to defeat the demon queen on an island where monster girls are basically peaceful, and with her being seemingly retired and inactive? Cause *blank*.
There is trying to leave some things unanswered, but leaving basically everything blank, and not making any real progress towards getting anything revealed, because snails pace, thats just lazy, even if it all were answered, it is still as basic and unoriginal of a story as can be, the game even seems to mock itself sometimes for how cobbled together and convenient written it is, and then there is people like you, trying to sell this as some deeply thought out world with heavy lore and massive story of factions and politics and ideologies being at play, just laughable.

Well whats the story going forward from the early stage while we are at it? *Blank* goes from location to location, fucking girls or getting fucked by girls, neither has any impact or consequences, cause magic convenient book always returns to church. Gotta gather thingies to progress, beating "commanders", another terribly original idea, should have just called them heavenly knights out of courtesy. Anything interesting happens on that entire journey to the capital? No, aside from cliche hooded secret organization and cliche masked stranger showing up a time or two for very little impact aside from turning slimy stalker into a proper challenge, which is the only fight in the game that has any impact. But why? Dunno, cause faceless evil hoddies do evil things or something. Anything I missed?

You speak of Ideologies in a game where the majority of characters just have the single purpose in life to fuck or get fucked, speak of politics in a game where there are no different kingdoms fighting wars, or conflicts between visible factions, not even a hint of it aside from cliche secret hoody organization doing something, sometimes, unseen. No conflict between rich or poor either because this is an island of plenty. There are not even real conflicts between races, because characters cannot hurt each other anyway, and well, they almost all pretty much just wanna fuck humans or get fucked by them (humans that are your colleagues, but who are conveniently left out pretty much always), mostly ignoring each other, so whats to fight about? Not to mention that all characters, aside from Perpetua, stay still, frozen in time, complacant, no big changes to their looks, power, or progress towards potential ambitions that they obviously do not have, because their onky ambition is to fuck, at most they become nicer in relationships, but that is just for you to have some more flavor in the fuck scenes that follow.

This is an unfinished sandbox with a mere skeletton of a "go there to battle, fuck, go there next to gather stone, fuck, go there to fuck, fuck more" "story". Thats all it is, and that is fine, no need to pretend that this is some super deep stuff that anyone would ever play because the story is so interesting. If this weren't a porn game, this thing would get laughed out of any building, while many porn game stories could somewhat stand on their own two feet even without the porn.

You are responding to one of the writers lol. He has a pretty big section in the credits and is listed as the "main editor" so I think he probably knows what he is talking about. But maybe you did know that and decided this was the time to vent, when someone that can do something about it is listening.
Also the "island of plenty" thing really stood out to me. Sleim vllge is poor as fuck compared the adventurer port town and the capital. They have mud houses except the mud is slime. The slimes are just too stupid and carefree to give a fuck, except Perpetua and Silver.

I go by what the game shows, not what some writer may have scribbled down on some paper somewhere in his cave that may or may not get implemented in a decade or so at the current rate. Perhaps he has a lord of the rings caliber lore and story pre planned in his notes, with many factions warring, deep and interesting conflicts and morals clashing, and intriguing story, but why should I care about that when none of it is in the game?
If they get their shit together and implement something thats consistent, interesting, deep and well thought out, I am the first to praise it, I love a good story, though one is not mandatory for a smut game to be enjoyable. Whats currently in the game is absolutely not what this fella claims however, and him being a writer is sadder than him just being a dev dickrider, because it means he is either delusional about his own work, or deliberately trying to bullshit people about what his work is.

The slimes are poor BECAUSE they are dumb btw, they do not live on barren wasteland, or are suppressed by the rich, they simply are utter airheads who sell worthless crap and live amongst other airheads, with no one there to lead, organize, or plan things. Their poverty is presented as funny, not as serious, a village of funny, sympathetic little idiots who are content with what little they have and are always cheerful anyway. No conflict potential, currently not more to it.

Bro...

You can be that reductive of literally any story.
"Kratos family got killed. Kratos got mad and went on a rampage to kill the gods that killed his family."
Obviously for the people paying attention there's more going on in the God of War games, but you can be reductive in that same manner.
Valentin wasn't saying the narrative isn't simple. They're just saying there's depth there for people who look for it.
I agree that the story is barebones and genuinely not that interesting.

But this isn't Monster Girl Quest, it's Monster Girl Dreams. The main plot being mostly a joke is the point. It's not meant to be serious. There aren't even any serious repercussions if you lose because of the fact that there's no stakes.

You're attacking the core identity of the game's narrative with these criticisms. That's like complaining that Animal Crossing doesn't have character deaths, heavy lore, and combat gameplay. It's not trying to do that.

___

If your main contention is the "depth there for people who look for it" line, then well... It's not really that interesting, but Aiko and Bed Chan do have clashing ideologies on how to find a mate. Kotone's relationship with Feng is a moral quandry. The concept of Soul Sucking, its regulation and how it's affecting succubi is interesting. Romantic pursuits between the genders and Elena, Kaia and Elly's disparate views on what should be acceptable in a relationship is an ideological clash.
And the way magic works with the enchantment and how people find ways around it, as well as its very existence is depth in that sense too.

Does the story do anything with any of these concepts to further enrich the plot with interesting and exciting stories?
No. Elena's monogamous desires will never be challenged. Kotone will most likely never reconcile with Feng. Cause you know... the game is supposed to be a lighthearted romp through the world, not an emotional or physical challenge. It's not a quest. Just a dream. Isn't it just fine for the game to be what it wants to be, and offer more on the side for the people who want to think more deeply about it?

I won't answer that in detail, because that would most likely turn into shooting essays at each other (and I don't think you have much of an interest in being convinced otherwise anyway), but I'll just say to take the game at face value and enjoy it for what it is, rather than dissect it in detail and find fault with everything that doesn't fit your idea of a good narrative.

Tropes and clichés exist for a reason, and they're entertaining to encounter, play with, and subvert. And yes, the game doesn't go into intricate detail about the how and why of many things (in particular related to the MC), for one because said MC is meant to be a sort of player stand-in and not a definite character, and also because the game explaining every little detail would easily turn into tedious information dumps.

Keeping a good balance between fun, accessible, novel, and erotic is not simple, and Threshold has been doing their best at that. If you'd rather play something that goes more into the weeds of plots and politics, I hear The Last Sovereign might deliver just that? But I don't believe directing irate rants at this game will achieve much.

At any rate, thank you for your attention toward the game (which you sure seem to have played a lot of for such an "unfinished sandbox"), and have a good day!

Just for the record, the game does feature change and character evolution to various degrees. Elly, Venefica, Kotone, Perpetua, Trisha, Tabitha, Mika, Sofia, and many more are all characters who are affected by their relationship with the main character, and who change in more or less noticeable, significant ways. After all, "lighthearted" doesn't mean vapid or inconsequential.

The game includes many worldbuilding elements and characters that players like to feel invested in. That's part of the pleasure of playing a game, and something that the writing endeavors to deliver on!

I mean, thats already more substance, even in this simplified version, Kratos had a family, Kratos killed his family, obviously he did not want to kill them, so there was trickery or betrayal, and as a result he goes on a revenge rampage. Even in this simplest of versions he has actual reasons for doing what he does, he does not go kill Zeus just to kill Zeus, way ahead of our blank protagonist.

I agree that the story is barebones and genuinely not that interesting.

We are in agreement then, barebones story, tons of placeholders, forgotten parts, all around meh, a classic smut game, the smut is the core, and it does that well. I am well aware that the story is not meant to be good, or the main point, hell the story does not even take itself seriously most of the time. You ought to tell that to the writer however who tries to bullshit people by making delusional claims to make it sound like this game has some deep lore, politics, factions, worldbuilding, "Zeitgeist", story and ideologies, that was the cause of me ranting and attacking it, because none of that is in the game.

Does the story do anything with any of these concepts to further enrich the plot with interesting and exciting stories?
No.
Exactly. And like I said before, if a game wants to be smut, and half arse everything else, I am okay with that, I just don't want people to pretend that this is some kind of deep story masterpiece with things being mentioned that are either not in it at all, or as you mentioned, are barely in the infant state before they starve in some dead end ditch.

I do enjoy the game for what it is, smut, a sandbox with plenty of nice, fuckable monster girls and decently written (mostly) and quite long fuck scenes, even a few somewhat interesting developing relationships that may one day lead to something other than a dead end. And by now, after many years, we even get CG's, at a complete snails pace, but still, I have time. I do not think the game is shit, I would not have bothered playing it if that was the case, I just think your claims about the "lore", worldbuilding, story etc were either delusional or straight up bs. Viewing it as the smut game it is however, it is way above average, it just is not what you claim it is.

After all, "lighthearted" doesn't mean vapid or inconsequential.
Never said or implied vapid. Inconsequential is debatable, as the story points don't matter to the overall narrative, but matter to those characters specifically.

No matter how much I like Jora, and her relationship troubles, as well the challenges she faces being a dragon and finding deep interpersonal relationships due to the power imbalance innate to any relationship she's in, her character's influence on the narrative of going to defeat the demon queen to bring peace to the world is non-existent.
You ought to tell that to the writer however who tries to bullshit people by making delusional claims to make it sound like this game has some deep lore, politics, factions, worldbuilding, "Zeitgeist", story and ideologies, that was the cause of me ranting and attacking it, because none of that is in the game.
I disagree tho?

I think the game does have lore. It does have politics. It does have factions, and worldbuilding. There is a zeitgeist (a predominant mode of thought that's so all encompassing the average person doesn't notice it.) And all that good stuff.

That is in the game. That's what I've been arguing.

I mean like... none of it really matters for the main story to be fair, but it is in the game for people who want to dig deep into it. Sophia's role in the monster wars as a tyrant soul eater doesn't change her role in the main story of being a flippant boss who tosses you a sigil cause she doesn't care to really do her job and is apathetic about life. You as the player's interactions with her to get her out of her shell and seemingly care about something... anything only affects her and your relationship with her, but that doesn't change the fact, that she does have lore.

I go by what the game shows,
Clearly not as you can fill in some of these blanks

Well I guess it kinda is, because in these other games, even the cheap and shitty ones, the protagonist usually has SOME valid reason to want the demon queen dead. Why does he want to fight her even though he cannot kill her or knows anything about her? Cause *blank*. Who is the demon queen? Well *blank*. Why would anyone want to defeat the demon queen on an island where monster girls are basically peaceful, and with her being seemingly retired and inactive? Cause *blank*.
if you paid attention. Ex the reason to defeat the demon queen is in the opening. The current demon queen doesn't like how monster girls are marrying into human families and seems to be doing something about it, which is prompting adventurers to travel to defeat because the last time a demon queen got pissed at humanity, it got bloody fast. It's only after arriving at the island the player learns of their debt and the apparent inactivity of the demon queen. Since they can't leave, might as well see the sights and take advantage of the situation. And apparently there is a system setup to get an audience with the demon queen so might as well confirm the original goal at the same time.

Two-man? Entirely understandable.
Hmm... suppose I have a favorite character that would love to get some attention and could commission a NSFW artist friend to help with the given character/scenes. How would that work? Any specific guidelines?

Guys I was just making a joke because I thought the mods were high quality. I don't know why so many of yall stick around if you dont think the characters grow or have enough drama when there are plenty of other monmusu games about world ending plots and life or death stakes. Im here to kiss the pretty girls and listen to them vent while in the comfort of their thigh headlock. Sre progress isnt the fastest but by patreon alone these two guys are making about $11 an hour to make extremely niche an imho quality stuff.

The growth we do get is the relationships built between the player and monster girls, and if youre here for anything other than that im just confused why because most other stories lack this games fundamental advantage of a very soft and lighthearted setting with low personal stakes. I dont need to see Trisha cry about losing the inn due to income disparity as the semen banks create a housing bubble or Mika try out for the analympics but irreversibly damage her legs in training arc and learn to rewalk. This can happen, but I really just want to hang out with fun and interesting personalities and designs and the game absolutely does that. Do I want more content for ever single girl in the game? Of course but I know it'll happen over time and If I really wanted to I could begin writing via mods myself.

Keep writing the fluff, its what Im here for. At most when I meet the Demon Queen Im gonna congratulate her on her successful peace policies, ask if she needs another member for her cabinet, and then return to the bar for work so I can afford enough wedding rings for all the girls one day.

Personally, I love going around and exausting dialogue options with each character and searching for different reactions to every skill in combat and it takes less time than what you might think it would, I've been playing this game for years and still think it's peak in most things it tries to do, the characters and enemies are what weights the most on that opinion and they would not be the same without the ever expanding world. For an erotic game with that amount and variety of characters, I can't relate to nor see any reason for such sizeable rants (again, that's what I came to;) in my experience with the game thus far, I don't want to invalidate yours nor tell you not to express it).

All of that is to say that I am enjoying the direction the story is going and the progress in the gameplay mechanics and, although I do want more content for the other girls, I understand that that cannot be done with the same quality at a fast pace and with the city content taking center stage.

Also, apologies for bad english, am not native speaker
