Hey, everyone! I'm the developer of the game! Happy to see the game here, love the site, I think it's got a really enviable archival tradition.

Just to give a brief summary of the content that's currently in the game: right now it's a mix of FF, MFF, and MF - currently weighted more towards girl-girl but there's a little of everything.

As for what's planned, again, it's going to be a mix. In the update we're currently working on there's a female orc, a male fairy, and a harpy who kind of freestyles (I figured: harpies are monogendered, right, so they can probably hot-swap their junk). We kind of started with several of the more-humanoid monsters to make things a little more palatable for launch, but the monsters are, for the most part, going to get stranger as time goes on. We've got a take on an angel that I'm really excited for people to see. There's currently a total of 15 monsters planned in all - we'll be adding 3 per update.

On whether content is skippable: that's a no, I'm afraid. Since it's a sandbox structure you can go through each monster's story in whatever order you like, but the way the main story advances is predicated on "liberating" every monster in a given district. It's a LITTLE hard to get a feel for the flow since there's only one district currently, but here's how it's intended:

1. Prologue
2. Player does whatever they like until they've liberated every monster in a certain district
3. Main story advances
4. Player goes back to doing whatever they like until they've fully-liberated another district
5. Main story advances again
6. And so on until all of the monsters are liberated and we reach the end of the main story

To be clear, this isn't a branching paths/different endings situation. The game will be lightly-reactive in that the order in which you're clearing districts will affect certain things about the main story sections, and you might find that monsters from one district that you've liberated might make brief appearances in the stories of monsters from another district. Everyone will get the same ending, however.

Thanks to everyone for checking out the game! Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for the answer to the question, definitely gonna give this a pass then.

Bigg_Dev Just a few comments on packaging (I haven't played much of the game yet, just installed and started it, so no idea if I will like this or not):
  • Thanks a lot for including the Linux version too in the "pc" package. Despite Ren'Py making doing this very easy and foolproof, so many devs don't even bother, or create themselves pointless hassle by packaging a separate Linux-only version.
  • It would be a lot easier to install and update if this was packaged as a single top-folder (say, called Monstrous_Liberation-v0.3-pc). Most Ren'Py games are packaged that way, because that allows easy management of updates (saves under game/saves might be version-incompatible, so it's better to separate them).
  • Setting the starting main volume at 50% would make for a more gentle first experience: the title music is nice, but seems mixed much louder than most of my other games, and it was really loud at first start...
Though this seems very linear, and thus probably not my cuppa, both the visual and sound design are quite nice so far...

Will be possible to snipe for content we want in all districts without liberating a single one/advancing the story? that'll be fine too. I'm only here for the futa content.

Thanks for the tips, definitely gonna have a look at various quality-of-life/file structure tweaks for the next update. The launch has gone decently-well so far, so we ought to be able to afford some art upgrades too (most notably, we can now afford to replace the BGs that are just royalty-free photos with a Gaussian blur filter with actual bespoke art).

Honestly if you were JUST seeking out the content where women have penises you MIGHT be able to manage it, lmao. Right now we've got it set up so that once a district has been fully-liberated, Nadia will pop up and tell you to return to the Hideout, and when you do the main story sequence automatically plays. Since I don't believe any of our planned districts are exclusively any one kind of content, you'd probably be able to only see the stuff you're interested in without triggering the conditions for the main story to advance.

Is the MC trans? The first screenshot has the line "Now, I haven't been a guy for a WHILE, but maybe my T-levels are still high enough for me to digest one of the free sample bottles they sent me".
She is, yes - this is something that's established in her first appearance in Opportunity (our previous title), and I wanted to make sure to include something to indicate that that aspect of her character hadn't been forgotten. Although it will come up in certain parts of the narrative, I'd really hesitate to call this a story that's in any way "about" her being trans. It's just part of her character.

Just finished playing through it. Good stuff. Sasha is hilariously adorable (when she isn't being a slut [I approve!]) and I like all the personalities that the starting monsters come with.

Drizzle was the most fun (for obvious tentacle related reasons) while Diogenes' lore and character were the most interesting. I absolutely loved how he was attempting to cope while under the Threads. Senza was kinda cool, about as much as a bitchy character can be, but I was mostly disappointed that she didn't do some futa stuff. The tail was a decent replacement, at least. Dommy mommy Nadia is also very excellent, though personally I'm not a fan of her body type (it's easy enough to not focus on, though).

I won't go into detail on what fetishes I personally would prefer, lol, it's your game and I'll either approve or bitch about it as it comes. If I could suggest anything I'd hope for more multi-monster content in the hideout, not just with people interacting with one another but with using Sasha as well. And I very much enjoyed when she gets full horny so more of that would be a lot of fun!

Great art, too. Kudos to your artist.

Thanks very much for the kind words! We've been grinding away at this for a long time so it's really rewarding to finally get to see reactions to it.

The tragedy of having a content plan that focuses on representing a very broad cross-section of monster archetypes is that you unfortunately have to make peace with only getting to go so deep with any one of them - the way things are planned at the moment, each monster gets about 10,000 words in their storyline, which is enough to tell a complete short story but "short" is the operative word. As it stands, the wordcount of the final product will be about a quarter of a million when all's said and done, so committing any more resources per monster would only balloon that - just know that I ALSO would love it if we could spend more time getting to know everybody. I think the Hideout scenes are a nice compromise - I've always been a huge fan of "home base" content in games like Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Mass Effect, and it's a huge relief to be able to just bonk action figures together for a tight little scene without a ton of set-up.

The other thing I'll mention is that for every monster's sex scenes, I'm making a conscious effort to employ their unique monstrous features. This is partly out of wanting each scene to have its own unique impact, and part borne from frustration with other monsterfucking media that's simply boring with it (what's the POINT of having a demon character if it fucks just like a regular human, after all?) To that end, I'm trying to be at least SOMEWHAT conservative with yanking the "and this female monster has a PENIS" cord. Not because I don't like it (I do) but because it would be very easy to overuse it and have it become boring, since it's technically-justifiable in all cases due to this being a fantasy setting. Forcing myself to go without sometimes ultimately makes for a more interesting suite of scenes, I think.

Now that I have finished playing through the current content, I can offer some sort of opinion, even though much of what I feel has al;ready been expressed by others.

This is a VERY solid offering for a first cut:
  • there is a decently fleshed out intro (perhaps a bit too much of intro, to my taste)
  • the first area is consistent, with a decent mix of "lore" and environment flavor as well as character-related context
  • the starting characters are well fleshed-out, with original story lines that feel both quite unique and yet a good fit for each character's unique traits from mythology
More generally, the writing is really mighty fine: loquacious without pedantry, sensual without being salacious, and with just enough tongue-in-cheek to sand the edges of both the sluttiness and the bleakness of the respective story elements.

Albeit an objectively very good start and likely good game in the future, like I predicted, this is probably not going to be too much my cuppa going forward. It's very linear (with is to be expected of a pure VN, after all, it's right there in the name). For me, it's hard to get drawn in if there aren't at least significantly different paths that can be taken, or diversified development of the main character that affect the story.

Given that, I won't be leaving a review, as it couldn't be a fair one... but I wish Bigg_Dev all the best for this project, I am sure it will be a success!

This is a nice game so far.
The art is nice,
the characters are nice
and the story is nice.

None of this really pushes my buttons but I like seeing the little interactions and stories so far.
Also this game is technically about scissoring people to relieve them which is amusing to me ;)

Good job so far dev.

Loved the demo and wanted to buy on Steam to leave a review but noticed the android version wasn't uploaded here yet, so got it on itchio instead. Hoping that Opportunity gets Android version too

Well she has a vagina, but that is weird.

Gender bender (again) maybe?

EDIT: looks like it was answered already as "yes"
