You dont even really need a tool for the UI. Just get an editor like vscode, import the game folder into it then just search the Japanese with an OCR tool. (Snipping Tool)

Ah... Pls translate the "crest" section, I can't understand japanese and I can't arrange what's the best I could use, but the skill tree can be left alone since it doesn't need arranging
There's plenty of programs you can use to translate from the image. If you've got an android phone you can use the lens app. You can just point your phone at the screen and it'll translate whatever's on the camera. Pretty sure there's also PC based OCR apps you can use for the same purpose, I just use Lens cause it's easy. Probably also plenty of equivalent options for iphone.

(edit: I guess I should clarify. I'm happy and capable to dive into code. But given how messy some of these generated files are, I'm assuming that people use tools to make that easier. Or... are ppl perhaps just using RPGMaker to directly edit the project?)

That's pretty typical, I directly edit the files with vscode but some people use Translator++. I recommend my way.
